F for my 2011 rig with this board that I'm disassembling tonight to pilfer parts for my first new build in 9 years. This board was rock-solid - my favorite build ever (I've been building pc's since 1996). This thing saw me through grad school, independent contracting work, hundreds of hours of SWTOR and 5 moves. RIP. Not sure what component finally died (it tries to boot but shuts off 3-5 seconds after I press the power button), but man what a run! With this board, a GTX 460, Athlon X4 640 and 16g of Corsair Vengeance, this rig was playing Warthunder on high settings right to the end. Also, Linus you were so young!!

@migoffspring yea shouldn't be any problem, though having 4 gigs of ram will improve performance alot

But, Linus, the SATA cables will get in the way of the GPU fan in the second slot if you put the SATA cable on the top row of the 4 blue ones.

@Ponten09 yes but the pci xpress will be downed at x8 instead of x16 look at asus website specs for this board you can read that there so not the ideal performance crossfire board i think

would this motherboard be good for gaming? i don't plan on overclocking or using crossfire though the cpu i was thinking of is AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 970 Black Edition that is unless this board cannot support 140w cpu's

How does it support quad crossfire with only 2 slots? Also, what is the chasis intrusion detector thingy?

How can I download the latest drivers off the website if I don't have any drivers in the first place to get my computer working?

@dunno199 There are no "i9" comming out, the code name for it was gulftown and it is out, BUT it's called i7 -9xx 'something' dont remember but, no i9 comming out atm.

should I get Asus M4A79XTD or the Asus M4A89TD Pro/USB 3.0.. and Im thinking of putting 2 Sapphire 5770(Jupiter XT). The M4A79XTD is $100 but the M4A89TD is $175. Please someone answer!!

you still have to consider that intel is using the 32nm and amd is still using 45nm personally I'm waiting a year or two to upgrade, I'm expecting 18nm by then from both companies.
