The ASUS AI Noise-Cancelling Mic Adapter has hit local Philippine shores and I managed to get my hands on before launch for a quick test. Here're some scenarios where the ASUS Noise-Cancelling Mic Adapter goes up against some familiar noise source.

A little bit of clarification since I get a lot of feedback in Facebook that they're AI MIC doesn't work: You need to have the headset stationary or fixed to maximize vocal recognition. Free-hanging headsets like those for mobile will have sucky performance because your voice is part of the background noise due to the distance of your mouth from the mouth-piece. Same goes for noise that is just too powerful that it is overwhelming your voice due to the sound pressure being just much powerful like construction equipment. In these cases again, have the mic as close to your mouth as possible. The AI MIC or your mic does not work if the sound pressure doesn't reach the microphone.

I tried but since its quarantine, none of the neighbors had their dogs out. That was specifically my plan but the dogs werent cooperative that day.

1:49, while he was testing without the asus ai mic, I was testing NVIDIA BROADCAST noise removal and oh boi its good, i can clearly hear him and understand him, it really works, and on the drill part, oh boy, NVIDIA BROADCAST totally eliminate any background noise

Looks like it is working fine, but audio quality goes down the drain if you are using a dedicated external microphone.

Did u use the Asus software to enable the Ai microphone or not. This is just because I saw one review where he had to use the software to turn it on and off

The ASUS AI Mic does not have software. If the one you saw had AI noise toggle in Armoury Crate, that could be another ASUS product like the ROG Strix GO headset with AI mic.

How is your wireless microphone connected to the ASUS mic adapter? I'm trying to figure out if I can use my wireless headset with the adapter.

The Saramonic wireless receiver outputs to the mic input of the AI Mic and the Saramonic receiver output gets fed to a host computer (or my phone, forgot what I used in this video) that's recording the audio. Normally its plugged in to my Zoom H6 recorder but since its a USB-only device, it had to go into a USB host.

It supports Mac OS natively. What's your setup ba? Is it detected when you plug it in? There's at least 2 other people here in the comments who have Macs and can confirm it works.

You're the second person that has this same situation and we've done extensive tests with the other person and the've concluded that this combination doesn't work but I actually am not sure why that is the case. We've ruled out that everything works except for that mic so I'm assuming it could just be the Seyfert itself> can you confirm if your aimic works with other headsets?

It is active noise cancellation as input can only passthrough the device and there's no software or switch to toggle the device activation.

@@reirah1551 ah i was hoping you could use RTX voice if you had an RTX GPU. Anyway, Krisp.ai is usable free for 2 hours of noise cancellation weekly, if you need more than that. Kindly check with your USB headset if they have noise cancellation software.

I tried this on my macbook pro, it doesn’t work :(. But I used it on my pc and it works! But I installed the app/driver maybe that’s why it worked. The driver is only available for Windows 10 sadly.

i actually am not sure. since its tuned for human voice, i would assume it would have a bias for speech. that said, if you're doing recordings, i highly suggesting getting a better mic or recordding setup, as this will add a "wet" effect on noise-reduced audio which i dont think is great for music

digital to analog converter kasi toh so using bluetooth, ang iniisip ko lang na possible sya is kung ung BT headset is received to as analog via dongle and then passed thru this which is kind complicated and i doubt you'll find it practical. if you need noise removal from your BT audio, if you're on PC, an RTX graphics card would be the easiest option. Otherwise, a service like Krisp.ai would be an option

You can check if your voice communication software has built-in noise removal. If you use Teams or Zoom, I know it has those but other you'll have to look for a functionality like Noise Removal / Noise Reduction / or Noise Cancellation. There are paid software for noise removal, Krisp is a highly reviewed option but I don't have experience with it.

Sadly no. It only works with headsets with a TRRS 3.5mm jack.

It's a shame you didn't know it has a bit of a gain to the signal, so that you could have spoken a little more softly to compensate. I think that is the source of the comments about it distorting...

kuya, I actually purchased one pero bakit parang hindi naman sya effective sakin? yung kahol ng aso tsaka yung mga takbo at boses ng mga bata na naglalaro rinig at hindi naman na filter-out ni ASUS AI Noise-cancelling mic adapter dinownload ko din yung software pero hindi perin kaya ifilter-out yung ibang noises.

masyado wet ung audio so kung client production di ko marerecommend na gamiitn as interface pero kung sa streams over personal voiceovers, pede naman although kung sa PC mo gagamitin or laptop na may RTX gpu, suggest ko RTX Broadcast na lang gamitin.

@@roseann763 Should be able to remove baby cries and other things. Are you using a DJ-style headset or an in-ear headset? Usually if you speak softly, the AI doesn't know what to filter out and this is usually the case from everyone I heard problems from. Since they think it removes noise, they speak softly but your voice is not powerful enough to register as the dominant audio and the AI disregards everything and just lets sounds through.

Can't confirm but it does support certain phones. You'd need a Type-C cable to Micro-USB converter. I don't have that phone so I can't test so if you can ask in an Oppo group, that would be best

The secret is 'OTG' (On The Go). If you buy an OTG adapter, it should work. Some phones you have to enable OTG in USB settings. Might not work, but probably will. Usually USB lets a PC control data flow to/from the phone. OTG reverses this, so a phone controls data to/from a peripheral.

kung nasa punto kayo nagsasalita habang tumilaok tapos malapit mic sa bunganga nyo feel ko kaya naman overpower ng mic pero pag freehanging or malayo baka di mahuli and marinig pa rin.

You will need a USB-C to Lightning adapter and your headset has to be 3.5mm but if you got all that covered, it shouild work no problems

Can't confirm but depends. Close-range shots would probably not get cancelled but then again that'd be weird, but background ambient shots would probably get knocked out WHILE you're talking on the mic. In dead air instances, it probably will go through. I will confirm this with a colleague who runs a range.

Sadly no, due to the pandemic most of the dogs in my area are locked up indoors. From what people tell me, there's varying degree of success but for the most part, are favorable and positive when it comes to animal noises like dogs barking, rooster crowing, etc

you need the headset to be a 3.5mm audio jack *WIRED* device, it will not work with bluetooth devices (there is a way but its expensive and involves another device)

I think my full script did say it really overprocesses your voice with that wet sound, but considering you're only inputting from a tiny mic its the best that you can get although digital AI processing has progressed further from what it was 2 years ago :D

Do you really need to talk while testing? will it not work if you stay quiet? I want to hear the actual background noise not your voice.

If you keep quiet, the mic will amplify background noise. it cannot determine what is noise and what is not if it does not hear your voice. Anything louder than your voice will also overpower the device. This is why its recommended to keep the mic used by this device very close to your mouth.

@@Back2gaming I see. But still, eventually you'll need to stop and listen to the other person who you are speaking with. So the device is only good when your talking and when the other person start talking the bg noise will start again? That is what I want know.
