Thank you, very helpful video. Trying to revive my old laptop to use with a lightweight Linux distro, added 16gb (2x8gb), a 500gb ssd, and replaced the battery. This video made the install very easy. @@uFixTek Liked and subbed the first time I watched your vid :D Please could you let me know the flex ribbon cable type/model of the one over the hdd/ssd (how many pins etc) I think I broke it (the transparent blue plastic on the tip of it missing) and as a result my usb port doesn't work

Wow! This is intense. I'm pretty confident about taking a computer apart if I know what lies ahead. Thank you for this video. It has been a while - without taking the whole computer apart how do I know if there is an 8 gig in one slot or 2 - 4 gigs (I noticed 2 slots and wasn't sure how ASUS has theirs). Does the RAM need to be paired up in each slot? 8 and 8? Thank you for your help

Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: you can download cpuz: www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.98-en.zip and in the tab "SPD" it will show the ram information for each ram installed. eg: imgur.com/a/h03A12P the combination of the ram has no effect on the performance you can have 2gb and 8gb or anything alike.

@@uFixTek Ah Thank you again! I did like and subscribe - I had forgotten about that tool...used it a long time ago on one of my desktops...that was my first time replacing RAM ever and back then you had 4 slots and they had to be paired....so glad you cleared up the combination.

its my pleasure and thank you for the support. yes back then with 4 dim you needed to have AA and BB slots , but not they dont have 4 dims anymore.

Hi,Thank you for ur video. I follow the step but my keyboard most of the keys are not working after I update the SSD and Ram. I checked the graphics card temperature go up to 60-70degree. Would you recommend to replace the thermal paste?

Thanks ✌ for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your issue the, the keyboard has nothing to do with ram nor ssds, you may have place the flex cable of the keyboard wrong. remove the flex cable and re-insert it. if you gpu is at 60-70 that fine but if it goes over 90 then yes worry.

Regarding your question, swipe the locations of the ram place the new ram on the bottom and old ram on top. if that doesn't work let me know plz. and when you power on wait up to max 15sec also i hope you placed a SDRAM DDR3L (L=Low voltage) it is very important.

Nice video! Im planning to upgrade the ram and ssd of my x550z laptop, id like to ask if is it okay if any brand of ram i use as long as it is ddr3? My laptop is currently 4gb hence i want to buy another 4gb to save money rather than buying 2 4gb new ram..thanks!

Heyy bro. RAM slots can be installed with 2 pieces of ram right? Because I doubt whether 2 pieces ram can be installed or only 1 pieces ram can be installed

i mean, is it can be DDR3 1600mhz? or 1866mhz? my friend told me that i need 1866mhz, but im in doubt bcz i didnt rlly have enough knowledge about this🙏

Can you upgrade the wifi in this laptop? Cuz mine is really bad that i have to use external wifi receiver

Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: i would recommend you to invert the wifi and Bluetooth cable (plug the black cable in the white cable jack and the white to black cable jack), sometime (mostly the connectors get a bad connection) right @6:08 is where i remove the cables, just remove them and invert them.
