Asus Zenbook Pro 16X: Seriously Crazy Good!

Are you CEO material? There is something about powerful laptops that have an understated profile and don’t draw much attention to themselves. Discrete, reserved, thoughtful, classy, sleek, smooth - you get it!. Usually powerful laptops or gaming laptops are over styled just to reflect what is inside; sometimes devices like the Zenbook Pro 16X come along and show how infantile the others are for trying so hard!
From the moment, I read about the Asus Zenbook Pro 16X, I knew this laptop would be the one for me. Surely nothing is perfect and there are a few things about it that are certainly compromises but the Pro 16X still manages to stand out as my chosen laptop of the year 2023 ( best gaming laptop 2023 ); I absolutely love it despite its imperfections. I think a great note to enter 2024.
For the asking price on this though, there are A LOT of options out there. Good ones too like the Alienware X16, Razer Blade, MSI stealth, Legion 9 and even the ROG or the Zephyrus series; but none of those quite compare in terms of the intelligent design here. This was quite a difference from my last review of the Asus ROG G18.
Considering the hefty price tag, I have tried to detail out the key aspects of the device to help with your purchasing decision. Hardware details of the Asus Zenbook Pro 16x ( UX7602 ) as as follows:

I honestly thought I would find a low powered RTX 4080 here but I was hugely surprised by the performance out of this; this device really can properly game. It may not have the crazy endurance as that of the purpose built quad fan Alienware X16 or of the specialized ROG Strix series, but as an overall portable powerhouse, it kind of does a little bit of everything, It may be a jack of all and a master of none but that is what made it so charming!

Heyy thank you Charlie. Glad you enjoyed my content. It should be able to house a double sided 2280 m.2 so yes a 4tb is certainly possible. Though those can be quite expensive. :) especially if youre looking for ome than can have speeds over 7000.

Oh yeah. I had forgotten about the S17! Would have been nice to have had it on hand for a comparison to the ROG variant. I have to also check out the Zenbook Pro Duo and find out if that screen really is useful or is it just for show

Thank you for watching my video; glad you found it useful. I use to keep a cooler pad a long time ago, a few years ago I had a laptop stand to give the device more space to pull in cool air (this actually made a good difference) but now I am not using anything as the newer generation of laptops have become quite efficient in cooling themselves. Perhaps in non air conditioned environments where ambient temps are between 30-35 C, ill probably have to use a laptop stand again but a cooler, still probably not :)

Hmm, well on igpu you should get between 3.5 to 4 hours. Might not sound like much but for a performance machine. It is pretty good

oh wow really? I remember in Canada I could not find anything less than a 4080. I think the top vent design is especially helpful to get with a 4080 atleast since this device has the thermal headroom to deal with the extra wattage. Hope you can find a 4080 variant soon. I actually decided to keep the Pro 16X; it is a masterpiece in the laptop space honestly.

I know I have felt the same way far too many times. Getting excited about stuff I don't have the budget for. But that is okay. Spoiled children of CEO's lol. Glad you kept the X16 dude. BTW Just saw the Unveiling of the X16 R2 and they still aren't upgrading to a MINI LED or OLED display! Such a lost opportunity on a great machine. Because 2024 is going to have the same graphics cards you'd think it would have been a no brainer!

Oh noowayy! Did not realize the x16 r2 is close to release. Damn that is a shame. Using these 3.2K displays makes me feel they may be better suited for 18 inch displays. I am still hopeful that 2024 seems some kind of baseline performance bump. Atleast we should get Ti variants like we did with the 30 series. Happy with the R1 so far. @@kazmiee yea I agree but the fact Alienware is basically doing nothing with the 2024 display is a real bummer. I’m thinking it’s going to be the same 240hz 300 nit display as last year. I personally enjoy mini led for the 16 inch laptops. You get the great color pop and don’t have to worry about burn in. Going to be interesting to see how all these new laptops with oled fair with burn-in. Absolutely! Look forward to some of your 2024 laptop content as those machines become available.

Faaaaaaaaaaack, was hoping for that screen upgrade. On another note: This zenpro really seems like a great buy, however...that circular mouse thing below the keyboard..I hate it. I dont see ANY use with it. Argh, why must laptop buys be so goddamn hard today!

@@joffy9373 haha, yeah I tried introducing it to my day to day but really.. I gave up. Interesting idea but maybe the execution can use a bit more polish. BUT... Regardless, I am glad atleast one of the manufacturers are trying to be innovative and trying to bring something new to us. You can also just disable the dial. My most desperate use of it was to use it as the aircraft throttle on flight simulator. :P
