Can you please explain why at 6:58 you say "because its an AMD chip, you have to be running 2 channels". Is it important to add another Ram card? Thank you for your informative videos. Marios

Regardless of manufacturer, its always good to have dual channel memory. But in AMD's case, you get a lot more performance with having dual channel ram. Note, the RAM should also be at a high clock speed to get even more performance. Sometimes you get between 10-20% more performance over single channel. The technical reason is complicated. Just know that dual channel is better than single channel

Running your RAM in Dual Channel means that more memory bandwidth is available to the CPU. In case of Ryzen - which supports really fast DDR4 Ram speeds - these chipsets have more CPU cores and more threads and love to have more memory bandwidth to work with. You'll see a great improvement in framerates with dual channel ram.

@@willgagner8302 Go to Task Manager -> Performance -> Memory and note the Speed and Slots used. Make sure there is 1 unused slot (used 1 of 2). I'd recommend installing HWiNFO -> go to Memory and note the tCAS latency or timing (first number in the hyphenated sequence). On the G14 it is 22 for me. Now all you need to do is buy another SODIMM RAM Chip of the same speed, same size and same cas latency (or lesser/lower but not higher) as your first one and install it. Boot it up and your laptop should be running in dual-channel .(verifiable by going to HWiNFO -> Memory and the memory speed should read half of what the original memory speed was). Let me know if that helped.

As we all know, a student pursuing a major or a degree in Computer Science just cannot get by without a good laptop. can you use the oculus rift s with the g14? im asking because it got a USB-C Displayport Alt Mode... so with an adapter it should be working, right? asus says the laptop is VR Ready but Oculus states USB-C Adapters aren't supported.

coming from the Google pixelbook, after buying and returning about four or five different laptops in a 60-day span, this thing is my absolute favorite. if you can get over the bad key backlights then you will absolutely love everything about this little beast of a machine

Quick tip for new owners. The laptop can get way too hot in Performance and Turbo mode even with all your drivers that are updated including bios and the NVIDIA card ETC. Even with all that updated it will still run hot so to prevent this I recommend turning off the boost and you'll see a significant drop in temps the highest it will go is about 80 or even 84 depending where you live with ambient temperature especially in this summer weather. This will clock the CPU at about 3000mhz while gaming and you'll see a solid stability in FPS and performance it will run hot but the keyboard won't burn you anymore. I highly recommend this.

I recently bought a gaming mouse for my zephyrus g14 and whenever I use it the cursor freezes for 1-2 seconds and starts working again and after 30 seconds it does it again. I tried using the gaming mouse on my Mac desktop and it works perfectly fine. Do you think somethings up with the drives on the g14? I tried fixing it by reinstalling drives but is not working

i have an issue where my display adapter says its the cpus integrated graphics and i cant switch it to the gtx 1650, i also got a 120hz one yet on windows it cant see the 120hz, please help me if anyone knows anything

@@ConfyScenty sure there is competition between Nvidia and AMD but I wouldn't call it hard time. Nvidia is still destroying the market and their driver and technology department is just better. I'm waiting for AMD to drop something good, but I don't see a reason to skip on that sweet Raytracing

Hi Dave, have a question, this device have 8gb RAM soldered in all presentations... so... the scales in ram from 16gb (8gb external + 8gb on board), 24 gb (16gb external + 8gb on board) etc... having more than 16 gb affect the dual channel configuration in those cases, and, its commonly know that AMD chips benefits more from dual channel RAM... is it this key in the performance for gaming too hard?

exactly... honestly I don't believe there will be a better 14 inch gaming laptop for the price(this is a light 1.6kg 14 inch laptop),of course the fact that it doesn't have page up and down keys itself will be a big deal breaker for people like me

hey @dave Lee you may not see this but I was wondering, would plugging the G14 laptop to a 144hz monitor fix the ghosting/response time problem? Also, would I be able to still get 120hz or 144 hz out of the laptop? Thanks a lot!
