I really enjoy your videos. I follow your journey every day. It’s great that you enjoy the little things in nature, like butterflies, flowers and flowing water. I can’t help but say that you remind me of your mother, who always captures the small wonders of nature on her camera. It takes us Finns a long time to get used to the heat. But you get used to it. It’s good to wake up early in the morning and get going. It’s not that hot in the morning yet. You can go at your pace and also see wildlife more easily. Happy trails! Enjoy! ”Tärkeintä ei ole päämäärä vaan matka.” ❤

Thank you so much Marja! 🩷 I’m sure I learned the love of nature and it’s beautiful details from my mom 🥰 And you’re right about the heat, it’s an obstacle but I’ll get over it 💪🏼 Also that last sentence is so true and important to remember, thanks for sharing ☺️

I have really enjoyed following your journey. I like your narration. You keep it simple and let the video speak for itself. If you don't mind me asking, what has been your biggest surprise hiking in America - either good or bad.
@thruhikerintraining586724 күн бұрын
Thank you so much, it makes me so happy to hear that ☺️☺️ The biggest surprise.. that’s a good question! Well the hiking has been even more difficult than I imagined, but also this has been more fun than I imagined. And the social aspect/side to the trail really surprised me in the good way. And how friendly and helpful and supportive people have been 🩷

Love that you showed your routine. The hair tangles are a real struggle on trail 😂 I admire that you know what day it is. I gave up on that after the 1st week. Sorry about the bruising!! Say Hi 👋 to Nimble and NY and give the fur baby a hug for me. Take care of you!!

Yeah always problems with the hair 😅 It is really hard to keep up with the day numbers 😁 I’ll definitely tell them hi 🩷

You've adjusted to the woods. Get up with the sun and go to bed when it sets. Walking alone will give you more opportunities to see wildlife. Buying the small packets of food is expensive. A packet of tuna is about the same price of a can of tuna(when on sale). The can is twice the amount. I hope that you are packing things like grinders for your first meal or two when you leave town. If you don't get enough sleep, try taking a nap after lunch. This was a very good video, probably your best so far. Trail Days is this weekend in Damascus, VA. Are you going? Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Thanks, I really put more effort and time to filming and editing this so I’m happy to hear you liked it ☺️ I think I’ll see trail days for one of the days but I don’t think I’ll stay the whole time 👍🏼

@@thruhikerintraining5867 You should be recording for future you. I camped from the Atlantic to the Pacific in 1975. I took lots of pics(35mm) but now wish that I had taken many more. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Just a suggestion but you might want to consider getting rid of those ankle boots and getting Trail Runners which will allow your ankles to move freely over rocks and things. You might want to watch Wandering with Wilson and add fresh food to your diet. Helps with energy. I enjoy your videos and thank you for taking the extra time to make them. Good luck!

Thanks so much 😊 Yes I always crave fresh food when I’m on trail and in towns I want to buy fruits and berries. Thanks for the tip about wandering with Wilson, I haven’t heard of him before! And the boots, I actually have some problems with my arch in my left foot and was specifically told by a physiotherapist and podiatrist to wear boots that will give my feet good support and not to hike in trail runners like I always used to in the past. So that’s why I have them and I’ve liked them so far, and not had too many foot problem (knock on wood!) But once it’s time to buy new shoes I’ll see what I’ll do then.

Your personality is so delightful! At what age did you know you’d seek adventures through hiking.?
@thruhikerintraining586723 күн бұрын
Oh thank you so much 🩷 I’ve been introduced to the outdoors from a young age and always liked it, but what really got me into hiking was when I learned of the PCT about 10 years ago, that’s when I started dreaming about doing a long distance hike one day.

What foot wear are you using for your hike?

I wear Keen boots, the model is Ridge flex mid. And I have Birkenstock sandals for camp shoes.

That was really interesting - thanks for showing the little things about your day. I've got to say, I could never survive without coffee!
@thruhikerintraining586723 күн бұрын
Thank you! ☺️ Oh and I know people out here who make coffee for themselves in the morning. I myself was never a big coffee drinker so I find it easier to not make it. But I do drink coffee when in towns 😊
