Why are you surprised? Doctors here in the US will spend 8 years between pre-med and med-school to graduate with an average debt of $200k, then would spend 3 to 5 years in a residency program followed by 2 to 3 years of fellowship during which they put in 80+ hours a week, earning 60 to 75k$ something other can earn from driving Uber. To finally becoming an attending with a salary, that although high, is comparable to a low level corporate executive or someone who has taken the path of consultancy. That's without getting into the details of international medical graduates, who after completing their fellowship have to either return to their home country for 2 years (instead of applying the knowledge and expertise in the US) or need to go into a hardship waivers process.

No it will not. America will import doctors from abroad. Same happened in 1950 and then they offered special 5 visa with green card pathway to worldwide doctors. Even dr oz father came from Turkey on that program
