@@michaelnoronha1383 Merle and Bonnie didn't have any children together. I saw two separate interviews one with Merle where he said he and Bonnie realized they were better off together as friends and not married. That they loved each other but were not in love. Bonnie said the same thing. She toured with him for years after they divorced. And was maid of honor at Merle and Leona Williams wedding. They remained best friends right up until she passed away.

Theresa was a God send for Merle and I feel that was probably the right woman for him, she came along at the right time....I feel if she had not, Merle may not have lived as long as he did. But, Bonnie was very special and I know he loved her just as deeply. What a beautiful life she had; I always felt she took so much pride in what Merle became, to her she probably felt that's why she was here. Merle always gave us what was inside of him, through song and in interviews....I miss him so much!

I Don't think he was in love with Bonnie all his life, but instead this friendship was it & the sharing of their music. I was listening to Daddy Frank the guitarman & have decided l am going to do a sketch of what my impression of what the family looked like. This is one of most moving songs love ever heard. Merle was my favorite country music singers. I told one of the caregivers at nursing home about it & she said "Now that is a good song." By just her talking about this, we have converted a lot of people to country music. The also said that he was a great singer too. They are going to get some of his ads. I did not know till l read a comment of one of his songs from a guy that said that he had met Merle was a huge,Elvis fan. Merle wrote "The Gates of Graceland "

I was lucky enough to see him live, in concert several times, always in small intimate settings like old movie theaters with 400 to 800 people in attendance. Merle always gave you your money's worth and more. He was the ultimate country musician and gentleman. The best show I saw was at the Ventura Theater in Ventura, California in the 1990s. Merle and Bonnie were on fire when they sang together. Such incredible harmonies and back up. RIP Merle Haggard and Bonnie Owens

I totally understand what you are saying. I'm glad I got to see Merle in concert 2 different times, and like you, when I heard Merle passed away, I cried my eyes out! His singing voice is pure country and the best I've ever heard. The lyrics to his songs are so deep. They really let you know how good his songwriting was! I have the same birthday as Merle on April 6th, and as a kid, I always thought that was really special. I remember as a teenager, I would sing at my grandparents' church, and people would say you sound like Merle and a little like Randy Travis, too. I always thought that's the highest compliment that I could have ever received.! Merle was my favorite!

In 1963 disc jockey Tommy McDonald wrote and recorded a song called "Missing On A Mountain" about the plane crash that killed Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Cowboy Copas. McDonald narrated the song and Bonnie Owens sang the chorus. "Missing on a mountain. Coming home from a show". 3 of our greatest singers, gosh we'll miss them so "

Saw merle live on his “If I could only fly” tour and Bonnie was there. Took my boys and their mother. I’m divorced from her now and I’m still learning how to live without her almost twenty years later. I know how Merle felt.

You can't be married to someone from 1965 til 1978 (as they were) and not be in love. Read his books "Sing me back home" & my house of memories, some very revealing things they both said about each other. He married Leona Williams in 1978 that's when all hell broke loose, she was jealous of Bonnie, even tho she was Brides Maid at their wedding,(which i just don't get it would be a cold day in hell when I would ever do that) This shows what a big hearted person Bonnie was. Merle ask her to be in the wedding. Leona moved in with her two kids, Merle had his 4 kids they just didn't get along. After Leona left that's when she wrote the song "You Take Me Forgranted", He wrote the song "A place to fall apart". Merle had a problem deciding who he wanted to be with.

Leona, I worked for a gay couple and the husband stood up as best man for his ex-wife. He must have loved her enough to let her go to another woman because they have 3 kids together. They are all very close as a family and always spend holidays together. He is in a relationship now and their kids are all grown up and on their own. Love works in mysterious ways sometimes.

They should have never been divorced. They were great together as singers and Bonnie was a great lady for Merle. I would like to know the picture that was on the wall.

My guess it was Merle but Bonnie didn't recognize him. She took him by the arm and showed him the picture and I think that it was Merle's picture that is why he was so close to tears.
