I lived many years in Rivers state. The fact is that the camera affects their answers. For example: if you go alone and buy a bottle of beer and keep charting with people around you there, 95% will tell you they're Ibos. But with Camera "they don't want to sell their land" . 1,they see Rivers state as land flowing with milk and honey. The land has what Ibo land doesn't have. 2, They see Ibo land as a people marked for elimination by Fed. Govt. 3, They see Rivers citizens as people raptured from Ibo domination. Therefore, claiming Ibo will make you stranger, or remnants of the oppressors. Am telling you here that even the non Ibo speakers in Rivers state see them as Ibos

This is really "deep" like the interviewer said. In as much as we laugh at their ignorance and foolishness, this is more than serious as it is the seed already planted for the now and future generations to come to deny they are igbos. And there seems to be a strong passion whenever the say they are not Igbos. The question is: How did Gowon and the Fulanis Abokis achieve this divide and conquer of the Igbos in 1967?
@edwardo2052

It wasn't hard. As an Ngwa man from Abia state, I've been called an "ala-bu-otu" by an anambra man. I've been told by my own parents not to marry from certain Igbo tribes...fragmenting the Igbos is too easy because within ourselves we discriminate. The creation of states was meant to fragment the Igbo race right from time. First they separated us from our cousins in Akwa Ibom and Cross river. Then they went further by cutting off those Igbo communities that are in proximity to the Atlantic ocean as a means of isolating the larger Igbo population. Till today, the Nigerian govt meets with the heads of the riverine Igbo communities in Rivers state reminding them of their agreement to never identify with the larger Igbo population as a means of benefiting from the oil exploration in their territory and also, doing so would put them at risk of military decimation. Buhari has said it many times. Infact, buhari was more than willing to allow the Igbo states separate as long as Rivers and Northern part of Delta stayed within nigeria, because he understands the strategy very well. If Igbos are allowed to have complete control of their own international trade and commerce, the entire south east would become a paradise...

The height of confusionism. Thank God there are still people like the old man you conversed with in Igbo. I was waiting for him to say he is not Igbo. I really pity some of them that keep denying their ancestors for milk and honey that can become worthless sooner or later. I wonder the kind of history they'll bequeath to their children children. This is some serious high level identity crisis going on here and they are not even ready to get it right anytime soon. The Etche language is a very identifiable Igbo dialect. I am from Abiriba in Ohafia L.G.A. of Abia State. The closest *trekkable* villages to us like Igbere, Mkporo, Ohafia, Umuhu, etc all have uniquely different dialects from us. Some of them even more complicated to undertand than this Etche dialect, yet here they are denying their Igboness just because they were seperated by invisible man-made State lines meant to subjugate and rule. The first time I ever visited Abua community in Ahoada L.G.A of rivers State that is far down south from Etche and Ikwere conglomeration, I was shocked that I was able to pick few lines or words from their language, and in Church, almost every local song either during worship or praise were same Igbo songs we sang in Church in Aba, and they weren't singing like people singing in a strange language. Whatever Juju they used on y'all must be so generationally potent. I am sure that if Igbere had been mistakenly carved into Rivers State, they too probably by now could have been denying their roots like some Etche and Ikwere people. I rest my case. *(It's not like I stand to gain anything from their boldy clearing all these falacies and confusions that only seeks to deform the history of a very resourceful people, but I don't just feel comfortable when truth is toyed with)*

It baffles whenever i see someone from rivers Igbo example etche, ikwere's,omuma,etc speaking Igbo and when ask what are you speaking he/she says he or she is not Igbo. When I school,our Igbo teacher let me to know that we have two types of Igbo (1)Igbo izugbe (2) and olu MBA but all still Igbo language ,Igbo izugbe is general Igbo while olu mba is dailet but rooted in Igbo language.

Who did this to us, I am still wondering why we Igbo's are so daft, how can someone who speaks Igbo language is still claiming he's not Igbo. 🤔🙆
