Junior is on his last legs. The elderly Maltese is holding on to say a final goodbye to his owner.
Dr Nicholas Woo is working the late shift. As things get hectic, a late-night emergency has the whole team pitching in to revive a stray cat.
Life and death are part and parcel of being an animal doctor. But for our vets, losing an animal is never easy.

That auntie with the dying Maltese tore my heart to pieces, especially when she cried... It reminded me of the times that I had to make the most difficult decision of putting my pets down when there's absolutely nothing else that could be done ... 😢 And also how my dad who is 70+ now, took great care of his 21 yo cat and had to eventually let him go just recently... It wasn't easy as my dad had very little sleep as his cat couldn't move well and was blind... It's how much these pets mean to us and no one can understand except normal lovers...

Interesting to see how people react to their pets in Singapore. I see that vet care is advanced there and pet owners are willing to spend money on their fur babies.

This was an excellent docuseries, very insightful and I enjoyed every episode. Was very painful to watch some of the animals die and it reminded me dearly of my pet whom I’d lost a few months back. Agree with the closing message, vets can’t walk on water. But I’m so Glad to have had a vet who tried to walk on water for us. Thanks for all the good and hard work, vets of Singapore! :)

20years ago, I visited ARC run by Dr Lye. He is a very good doctor. There was a Dr sulini, also very good... Never see her for many many years.

I used to aspire and look up to vets. Until I worked at one local clinic, and the vets were heartless. Whenever there’s an emergency case who comes in, all of them will shrink responsibilities, push the case to one another and claim they are ‘busy’. (Well, who isnt busy?) It changed my perception of vets. Many joined veterinary for the love of animals, but many also lose passion and compassion along the way, and they eventually lose themselves. Thats all I can say.

My condolences. That’s why my wife and I aren’t really keen on procedures needing GA for our dog unless it’s absolutely necessary, especially if your pet has poor health or of older age. So we would clean his teeth quite regularly despite his protestation and eating of toothpaste. 😃 In your dog’s case, I would think tooth extraction due to tooth decay doesn’t really leave any alternatives other than performed under GA. Unfortunately it is still rolling a dice, much like us humans do when we need to go for an invasive operation. I am sure the good boy/girl was taken good care by you and there were many wonderful memories created. Until we meet again at the rainbow bridge….as they say owners and their pets will meet.

If one can put their pets down, we should be allowed to put down humans too.

Hi, hope anyone can answer this important question. Do all veterinary staffs in singapore receive rabies vaccination ? what are the criteria for vaccination?
@ayu1978
@ayu1978 2 жыл бұрын
Singapore is rabies free. Most vet and staff do not need the jab unless their job scope requires them to handle foreign animals imported into Singapore, say at the AVA quarantine centre. Most pets imported will require a rabies test before the airlines will ship them.
