Jack needs to play in a smaller US market. In Toronto he was the "toast of the town" first half of 2021, and was for sure going to win the Vezina. At the end of the season it was "screw this guy get rid of him". Edmonton being a smaller market yet the still bright spotlight shines. Personally I think Edmonton has a glaring defensive system problem, and less of a goalie problem.

NO hes not. Hes terrible positionally, it caught up to him and it shows whats really going on with his goaltending. Unless he relearns how to move around, his techniques all have to be addressed. So many holes literally in his gameplay and why he cant play at a high level. Look at all these goals hes letting in. Hes terrible. His confidence is shot, bc he sucks and he knows it now. The 3rd goal last night was terrible, but the other three were a 2-0 rush, a 1-0 rush, and two guys left to stand in the crease and whack at the puck until it went in. Sure, you'd like to see him make a big time save on at least one of those at the AHL level, but like the Oilers, his team hung him out to dry.

A TON of that looked to me at least the Oilers have given up in front of him. It's been absolute open season but when everyone is dejected the GOALIE can't be the one responsible for making the team wake up. Feel so bad for Soup, we loved him in Toronto and he was so good most of the time. Sadly it always felt to me personally that he can’t cope mentally. If it’s going good he’s a brick wall but as soon as he has a bad game he get’s into his own head and everything goes to sh*t. Really hope he can turn it around but I can’t see him getting out of this downturn for the forseeable, I think a break from hockey might do him the world of good, though with that contract size I can’t see that being allowed to happen

I really REALLY liked Soup back when he was with Toronto. For a time there I was getting some serious Potvin vibes from him the way he went from goal post to goal post in defending the net and his consecutive game record and for awhile there thought he was going to replace Andersen as their starting netminder, but obviously injury put the kibosh on that. I'm a huge Leafs fan and live in Windsor, Ontario where Jack Campbell played for the Windsor Spitfires. The team was not strong but he was lights out every night. When the Leafs got him I was ecstatic and couldn't believe how well he played and he actually stole Anderson's job who got traded. So did the Maple Leafs reward him by playing awesome. Well they traded him and picked up 2 guys who were always hurt. Another career ruined by the Toronto Make Me Laughs. Until the Leafs decide to solve their goaltending and defensive problems, they will never win a Stanley Cup!! 🥺😭

I want to be optimistic he can bounce back but it's hard to say. 1 AHL game isn't quite enough to say his career is over. It's a team sport and he needs chemistry with the teammates in front of him, next game could be an improvement. If after a few games you can put a slow moving beach ball behind him then the talk of him being done could be brought up.

Confidence is a fragile thing for a goalie. I'm saying this as a beer league goalie but when you're on top of the world, you think you can stop everything and when you question yourself then you are just afraid to land in the goal and you don't do things that are innately natural to you. He's got to get the f*** out of his own head that just takes time and repetition. The Oilers team defense also doesn't help when it makes you look bad every chance it gets.

The Condors other two goalies have the best save % in the AHL this season, so it's obviously not the defence that is the problem. Campbell is a great guy, but is a mediocre goalie. Had 1 good season in the NHL before the Leafs had enough of him. I honestly feel bad for the guy, but the Oilers need a proven starter to carry this team and Campbell is definitely not him. Holland has a ton of work to do and it needs to be done ASAP while the season is still early.

As a Bruins fan. I laugh watching the Oilers fall as they have. I feel bad for the goalies, especially Campbell. He was never good, but. Seeing him as he is now. I’m embarrassed for him. Seeing these highlights, doesn’t make it easier. He’s easily at rock bottom now. I hope his mental health isn’t taking too much of a hit right now. Goalies take too much abuse from fans when things happen like this. Defense needs to be better, as with the offense. If those two work seemlessly, the goalie has an easier job. Jack deserves better.

There’s an unfortunate amount of people telling us to not feel bad for Jack due to how much he makes…he’s only making that money if he plays. Unless they buy him out. UNLESS RULES HAVE CHANGED (please let me know). Dude is still human, show remorse. Should we not feel bad for a man who’s down on his luck? Even if he has but pennies to his name? A multi-millionaire who puts his life on the line every night to try entertaining people? Sports are incredibly dangerous, you’d think that after Lauko and Adam, we would understand this. Kane a few years back. Having his wrist cut open by a skate. Love or hate guys ability on ice. He is still a human. Show love and respect to all, judge them not. For only people who are perfect, are free to judge. No mortal is perfect.

I said when the Oilers signed him, when he's confident he's the best goaltender on the planet. When he's not he's not even AHL worthy. To sign a guy like Jack you have to be able to pump up his confidence and help him keep it there. The oilers don't have the atmosphere to do that.

I’m unhappy with the result of jack Campbell… however I still love, and still like Jack Campbell.

Really sucks for Campbell. Lets not pretend like Edmontons defence is doing him any favors. I loved him when he was on the Kings (Even though the kings weren't contenders at the time).

I still like Jack and to be honest he's been the better of the two goalies in Edmonton but his cap hit

1 of 4 is on him. Each of other goals, where were his teammates? Standing / gliding and watching like everyone else in the crowd. I agree he isn’t playing well but for Pete sake, help the guy out when he’s struggling. Condors look to be playing the same system as the Oilers. How’s that going for them????? The Oilers system seems to be based on once the opposition gets past the defence, the goalie is to rebound the puck up the ice to his defence, 🤞🏼creating an Oilers odd man rush. Seriously though, the Oilers and Condors look SLOOOWWW to most of their opponents. The new system they’re using doesn’t seem to fit their skills.

the team has NO choice but to fire the coach... any GM that wants to go up to the cap before the season starts should be fired. they should go into a season with 5 mill to play with if they are going on a cup run, OR to make a trade to shake things up the only thing they can afford is a coach move. how many will lose their jobs based on GM mistakes

Being a “nice guy” should be an after attribute to being a high calibre NHL goaltender. Jack, he’s just a nice guy.

When the goalie is doing their darnest to keep the game from being a 10-3 game instead of a 7-3 game, there needs to be some blame on the defence, yea, both goalies can be better, but when the goalie has to second guess every shot that is coming to them, because they have no idea if their defence is stopping the cross crease, or leaving a guy wide open in the slot, they start to second guess, and not play naturally. The team needs to figure out how to give them the clear shots, and cover the higher danger chances, like that first goal from the sharks, how is buddy that open in the slot....in the NHL

How about a guy that wears an Oilers jersey to a Sharks game and brings a paper bag with eye holes cut out. Highly doubt you can get a paper bag at the arena once the game was going badly.

The same paper bag the liquor store cashier put the alcohol in. He definitely brought the bag to the game with him 🤣

It’s more than confidence he takes things to hard on himself. I’m Toronto he was amazing until he would have a few losses in a row even when he played amazing and the team infront wasn’t good he put all the blame on himself every time. And when he’s in that state of mind he’s unplayable. He need a serious mental evaluation because the level of blame and mental stress he puts on himself is unhealthy for anyone to handle. When he gets himself figured out then the confidence will naturally come back

This is not his fault. I just wish I could shake him and tell him to stop blaming himself. He was the only player I felt was playing good.

Campbell will be traded when the next big play goalie goes down to injury. The OILERS play in general is what cost Campbell his spot and he needs a new home anyway . While he's in a funk now , and who would not be, he's not done .
