Not sure if somebody commented this yet, but you can put a filter in a filter, and even put that in a filter and it remembers all the contents. So you just lose 1 slot, to add many more on top of it.

You can fix the problem with constantly having to update the filter and running out of space by using an attribute filter with “can be washed” blacklisted, then it will work on anything that can be washed

You can change the filter to deny certain blocks instead of allowing blocks, if it runs out of slots

I know you record these in advance, but just in case you haven't committed to your automated leather setup yet, have you considered using perpendicular Gantry Shafts to move a set of deployers *across* the leather like a 3D printer? An efficient use of that concept would likely require some logic, but I feel you would enjoy trying that approach! Loving the videos, by the way! Keep it up!

With the new update of 1.18.2 of ATFC you can do this by just running a hide across a saw. Its cheaper and simpler. Not sure if your server wants to update or not but it makes this a great deal easier.

Kinda reminds me of being a CS student, as in I can spend 1 hour doing homework or I can spend 10 hours writing code to do it and another hour babysitting the program to make sure nothing goes wrong

you should use atttribute filters and set them to "not washable" so everything gets washed with the water fan and pikced up only after that, that way you don't need to set up the filter for every item, same for funnel at your smelting set up

Spinning is an interesting way to go about this. I would have gone orthogonal, having it sliding side to side and forward and back.

Steel can be fully automated using the crystallization catalyst recipe, turning 200mb steel into plates and sawing them into 2 ingots.

Replace the filter with Attribute Filter. In Attribute Filter, you can blacklist items that are washable and let all other items through. You therefore wouldn't have to edit your filter all the time. You can also use Sequenced Gearshift for the deployer rotation duration timing.

You should definitely update the modpack and check the changes. Hint: "Hide -> Leather production now fully automatable"

you can put a trapdoor infront of fire fans and it will stop it damaging you but not cooking stuff

A filter can be removed with an empty hand, just gotta aim it so it is highlighted properly.

I wonder when Ilmango will test whether deployers can pop ingots out of molds, possibly with a chance of not destroying the mold.

The fan particles will pass through certain non-full blocks like single glass panes, a single iron fence, or (if this pack has it) a placed stick. That way you don't have to have that pit for the water to fall into.

Filters can accept other filters in themself, allowing you to "extend" the list of White/blacklisted items.

From what everyone is saying, it seems leather can already be automated easier in the new update, but depending on why the deployer can't place the leather on the log, it might still be possible. If it's just that the deployer can't reach the log at the correct height or something like that, you could try to position the deployer halfway down a block, with a mechanical piston or something along those lines.

it looks like the filter supports a "white list" mode and a "black list" mode. your filter is currently one "white list" but the buttons on the bottom left should let you swap it to "black list" instead

Worth noting, you can put the funnels on the side of the belt and it’ll output up and onto the belt

since the hide place on the log has a hit box, I wonder if it is consider as placing a block therefore the deployer can't do that action. maybe you should try a block placer or something similar.

Some thoughts on the auto-scraper: * The asymmetry is probably due to rounding! I would guess that the "look" vector of the deployer is bucketed into one of the 16 subpixels by multiplying the fractional x and z coordinate by 4 and then coercing to an integer (truncating the remaining fractional part). This means the asymmetry is likely not JUST dependent on direction (NSEW) but ALSO which quadrant of the word you're in (+/-X and +/-Z). * Given this kind of asymmetry, I wonder if you could get away with a lot fewer deployers by running the scraping machine for shorter THEN rotating the log with the hide on it by 90deg. Repeat this 4x and you should apply the same scraping pattern rotated by 90deg each time. If you can get a single scraping run down to

for a leather scraping machine it might be wise to put the scraper on a minecart, it would help move the machine pixel by pixel, you could have a long line of the scrapers put on a minecart. this way you could do like 10 leather at once, I dont know if it would work but I am sure if someone could make it work its you.

You can also use the fan pointing upwards and a depot on top of the water. The items will process on top of the depot.

to filter more items than 1 filter can hold ,you can make a filter with filters ie you can set a filters with a filter that has been set to filter items

friendly tip: for the cobble washing setup, instead of white-listing every single type of ore, you can simply black list the cobble

can you instead of randomly clicking on the hide, use the same thing u used for the drills and get it timed right to click on all "pixels"? (the thing to move contraptions, not sure how it's named)

@11:25 two of the buttons at the bottom of the filter tell it whether to ✅️ white-list or ❎️ black-list items. For example, instead of putting 3 ores on the white-list you can put 1 cobble on the black-list. I'm afraid that replacing the filter templorarily with something else is the best way I know to adjust it.

I feel like for scraping the better way would be to move the hide on x/y axis. CNC hide scraper. although I'm not sure if that would let it get scraped. but it would definitely easily let you hit 16 specific spots with a single deployer, and it would do it precisely without wasting durability if you wired up the speeds correctly. but it could be a dead end if contraption hide can't be interacted with. not sure how it works exactly.

Can you place leather on anvils? I thought I remember Etho doing that, but that was a long time ago. lol

For the scraping problem, I wonder if a "3D printer" design using 2 mechanical pistons pushing a single deployer in the x and z axis respecitvely would work and conserve knife durability.

Higher speeds skip spots that machines can act on, it is possible to drill through walls with rotating drills completely, if they are too fast. I recommend going as slow as possible. Also, there is no need to do tick math in any way, there are blocks that can perform machine instructions, meaning you can set a number of rotations and how many degrees it rotates and so on.

For automatic hide placement: - What happens if you rotate the deployer (facing down still) for placing the hide vertically, so its path intersects the log somewhat. So rotating it to come down towards the log like a slap. - can you place the deployer at some block fraction using the rope pulley from the drills?

Making leather in this game is tedious am looking forward to this one !

If anything, capacity wise the toolbox is slightly better than a shulker box whereas the shulker box has less total capacity but can hold a more diverse array of items.

Have you tried a déployer from the side to place the leather on the log? Also there is 1000% a better solution for that knife wielding abomination, maybe with mechanical bearings spinning in a moving contraption like the one you used for mining.

You can place the brass funnel directly on a belt and if you you place a block at an end of a belt the items won’t fly off

Someone mentioned this idea for the scraping, but what if you use gantries or rotators or anything else that can give a sub-block offsets to offset the deployer attempting to place the hide, so it reaches just above the log? Would it perhaps then be able to actually place it? Perhaps at an angle instead of from above?

about the filters, can you craft the "Attribute filter" in atfc? IT allows you to filter more genericly like you could blacklist "items that can be washed" as a filter and it would block all the cobblestones and gravel and stuff, but not the ores that come out after washing (because those cannot be washed)

regarding nutrition, I haven't tested it but if I'm remembering right soups can have everything except grains right? except in the case of rice which can be cooked and then added to soup so in theory that could be your full nutrition food

Can you automate the REMOVAL of the scraped hides? I didn't notice you trying that. If so, you could just AFK with a clicker script placing hides and a clock pulsing the scraper.
