the pumps change the pumping direction based on the rotation direction. when they are off they show the default direction (as if they were spinning clockwise i think). this feature was removed in create 0.5.1 and now they always pump in the direction they were placed in so keep that in mind when the pack updates

it would be funny if the curdled milk convert into a solid block of cheese in the giant tank

Absolutely brilliant. I hope you don't get bored anytime soon because this is hands down one of the best series out there.

On this version of Create, tiled pumps like you have (where they're all adjacent) have to be alternating in direction, similar to a checkerboard, because they change what direction they pump in based on the direction their cog rotates in Create 0.5.1, which the pack is not built on, this was changed to instead have the direction consistent regardless of rotation direction, so you can just flip them around instead

To get round the bucket fill issue put a tunnel on the belt infront of the spout with a full bucket as a filter and respect data . The bucket will stay until its full then go through the filter .. saves a rotation speed controller and all that gearbox spam lol

If you wanted, you could get the pipes out of the floor by raising both them and the platform of redstone lamps up by two blocks and then just not lowering the barrels back down to floor level until after they've been emptied.

It makes sense why you can’t pump out of the top of a barrel. With how straws work, you aren’t sucking liquid up, you’re sucking air out, creating a low pressure zone and the outside (high pressure) air forces the liquid up to reach equilibrium So you won’t be able to suck liquid out of a barrel without letting air flow in to replace the volume of liquid

I think the pumps load in before the turning does. So they "assume" a default direction of the spin and hence show the false direction of flow, before you let the whole system run after a reload.

You can place a brass funnel with a filter for full buckets of vinegar right after the spout. It will fill them up completly and look and function much tidier

Amazing machine. I think it would be cool to add yellow lines of concrete to delimitate the path of the moving barrels (and maybe even an enclosure around the robot arm), like you would see in almost all factory that have moving machines. It would make everything visually realistic.

to make sure containers are filled with a spout you can fill containers on a depot and have a brass funnel with an attribute filter selected with the no air tag

It's possible the vanilla concrete powder recipe was added back in by the modpack author

Since vanilla buckets cant hold less than a bucket, if you use them the spout will wait until its full until it fills the bucket on the belt

I finally caught up (from episode 25) and this is by far the coolest contraption.

I see that ilmango does not use the negation in the filter. Insted of filtering a specific dye, why not negate water, so everything except water is going to pass.

You can speed up the filling step if you have multiple fillers working in parallel in slow mode, with a splitter of the main flow before the x fillers and a merge of the x slow flows after the fillers

That production line is so cool with all the copper, glass, robotic arm, gantries, etc.. absolutely love it! I also really enjoy the tangents you go off on. I'm not as good at stopping myself so I have to go back to finish projects I started multiple projects back and hope there isn't another tangent lurking ready to send me off on another random projects 😂😂😂 I suppose having the viewers, that you've already told what's happening in the next video, probably helps you to stick to the job you should be doing 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Suggestion for future project: Concrete Factory. Which features a panel which lets you pick a color dye, and then allow you activate continious or batch auto-crafting of that using the water boil method. Having a display of all colors visually as well as stock counts would probably look really cool bonus points.

to put a hopper pointing on the top of a barrel, you need to click on the bottom face of the barrel from the top or on the top of the rim I think

I think you could use a dingle brass tunnel with a filter on it to prevent partially filled buckets from leaving the spout. Edit: my typo, is a single brass tunnel not a dingle XD

I don't really know when Mango uploads, but before I opened YT I had this gut feeling Like my ATFC craving needed to be satisfied Low and behold another episode! F yeah

The placement against the barrel is based on the outward normal vector of the surface of the model you click on. So if you click the inside of the west wall, the placement side is east, even though you may have clicks from above. To place the hopper above, simply click on the rim of the bucket, which has an upward outward normal. PS this is true for most block models, e.g. hopper function the same way. Theyre just more shallow so its less likely you click on the inner wall (instead you clicl the bottom or the fatter ridge).

7:04 i think the placement rules for barrels are like stairs. it doesn't care about which side of the block your aiming at, it only cares about the orientation of the specific surface you're aiming at. so if you aim at the inner floor or the barrel it should place above it.

I am 95% sure you could use just 1 pump to unload the milk vinegar. (might take longer but you dont have to make sure 9 pump have the right direction) So each barrel have a normal pipe below and there is a single pump between the barrels and the tank. Also that work for loading if you dont need a exact fill level.

You could have rotated the barrels 90 degrees as a whole so they make a 3x3 wall of barrels and you can empty all of them from the sides at the end of the sequence

I suspect using Vanilla buckets , while much more expensive would solve the partial fill problem; since they cant be partially filled.(not that you are in a hurry given the other timings)

maybe you could put the buckets in a depot and take only the completly full ones out using a filter

What I find the weirdest about this is, that apparently you can pump out milk from the big tank while the pump is above its fill level. Or at least mango's contraption seems to do so. If it's not the case, it could still be easily fixed by moving the bottom of the tank 2 blocks up, but it does look much better this way, with the tank actually standing on the ground. I'm eagerly waiting how he manages the process of making cheese. Also, I'd totally try to add some fill level sensors, (or however they're called) to check wether you could make a new batch of curdled milk, and if so, and the system is reset, start it again automatically. Since the milk tank is bigger than the curdled milk tank anyway, it'd not be an issue of storage (probably), just the question of how fast your milk production is. Also, in one of TangoTek's videos from a series with create mod he mentioned that 10000 blocks worth of a fluid counts as an infnite source, that doesn't deplete even is you pump it elsewhere for some reason. He did that with lava, from a lava farm, to get an infinite fuel source. Does that apply in ATFC as well? Or was that some feature specific to the version Tango played that series?

whats happening is that how the pumps in current version work is that when u hook up rotational force to the pump, the direction of the force decides which way the liquid flows and also flips the pump to indicate that. wrenching the pump inverts that behavior by also flipping the pump. so the direction the pump is pointing when stationary can be different to its direction when it receives the force. when a pump goes from rotating to stationary, it saves the direction it was when rotating. but when u reload, the pump doesnt remember the state it was in, so it goes back to the original stationary state. when it then receives the same direction of rotation as before, it will be pointing in the direction it should be.

I think ilmango struggling on this is like the trying to code golf a solution to a difficult problem and struggling to debug it because you’ve written your code to be compact, which has made it really difficult to fix. Had he made the machine a bit larger and more spread out I think it would’ve been very easy to modify and fix issues.

The pump issue isn't an issue and it's not a visual glitch. This version of Create has rotational specific pump direction AND separate arrow sides. The reload is setting the pumps arrow direction to default, but the rotation reverses the arrow back to the working position. This issue was fixed in the latest create version by removing the rotation direction so it only goes off the arrow direction.

I may be asking too much but is it possible to out 4 sets of barrels and rotate them by making the previous section trigger the next one? That way you will have always 9 barrels locked and fermenting because you will have 3 other sets waiting.

The pump issues is fixed in the latest version of Create, hopefully the dev of ATFC will get around to updating the pack. The Create team made is so pumps do not care for rotation direction but only the oreintation of the pump set by the wrench.

I'd assume the game is trying to make a realistic gear turn with those pumps. Which is why a 3x1 is possible but a 3x3 wouldn't be.
