I used to work in the Atheneum building in Cambridge (former home of Atheneum Press) and everyone there pronounced it: ath en AY um.

Definitely on my "want to play" list. I had assumed Ath uh NEE um, but there's probably some Renegade clip out there with someone pronouncing it. :)
