Cheers buddy, we got lucky seeing so much wildlife up there. I actually happened upon the little forest dragon when we visited the Cathederal Fig (not shown in this film). He was quietly sitting off the side of the track on the base of a tree. He allowed me to get very close and didn't really move the whole time. Cheers again and thanks so much for watching, All the best. Phil

Hello my friend, what a gorgeous soothing respite, after the horror we have experienced in NSW, crippling drought, destructive fires, sorrowful loss of human and precious wild life. You took me back to my childhood, back to the lush dank rainforest behind our home in Gordonvale, Nth Qld that was filled with the unmistakable earthy scents of a thousand different plants and animals. The sights and sounds, familiar too, and the green as ever, spectacular! Thank you once again for sharing your treasure with us and for allowing this glimpse to people who will possibly never be able to experience such unique beauty for themselves. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you Miss Melly Vee, yes it has been an awful start to the year, lets hope it gets better from here. I hope i did justice to your old stomping grounds? Such a beautiful region FNQ and in particular the wet tropics. We were really lucky to see so much wildlife. It was heart-warming to know that the wildlife is flourishing in out there. Take care and thank you again for your support and feedback as always. Cheers Phil

Hi Phil. I want to start this with a very sincere thank you. After weeks of watching the heartbreaking footage of our country being desolated by the fires from hell, only to later watch some of your older films again, to reclaim a sense of Australia at peace, here and now watching this film put a real smile back on my face. So much lush, green flora and the wild and more importantly, unthreatened fauna, quite simply was worth its weight in gold. This has been an exceedingly tough time for all of us to watch, even if we were not directly influenced by the devastation. I hope that applies to you as well and that you both were safe. The Atherton Tablelands on the Queensland side of the Great Dividing Range was another awesome location and as usual, you did it proud. As a final note, I'd be a liar if I said that seeing that happy, healthy platypus, (who couldn't love a platypus,) along with the turtle, dragon, python, cassowary, tree kangaroo and bush turkey, didn't have an effect on how I've been feeling in recent times. Loved the spectacular curtain fig and all the trees. So much better than the black, lifeless sticks now on display for hundreds of thousands of hectares. The clean, clear look of the entire environment gives hope to what Australia will return to and let's hope it will be much sooner than expected. Another great film. Thank you again.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know how you feel mate, I always love reading your comments. Atherton was the first time I'd ever seen a Platypus in the wild. I shot that footage in the middle of a overcast day which is pretty rare because the normal time to spot them in dusk and dawn which is crap for videography due to low light. The shots of the Tree Kanagroos are probably my favourite though. Its very rare to see them in the wild. We spoke to a couple of rangers we met along one of the trails and they told us where we would have the best chance of seeing one. We humped the camera gear a few kms out along a long track in a little known forest reserve and kept looking up right to the top of the canopy. After about 2 hours with a really sore neck from constantly looking up I manged to spot one and then in the same tree a second one. Very difficult to film as the canopy is so thick and its hard to get a clean shot from the ground up but i managed to get a couple. Like you it warms my heart to see these beautiful creatures living their lives in these last little retreats of protected habitat. Take care my friend, all the best Phil
