I was a drummer in the opening ceremonies-- had two guys carrying the green Taiko drum I was playing on the field. Wore one of those pringle outfits. We waited with John Williams at every rehearsal and on the big day. Great guy. He teased me about having my music on a transparency taped to my drum-- said "I wrote that one!!" It was hot as blazes and a once in a lifetime memory.

Now that I am an autistic stay at home son I have all the time in the world for an Olympic Party . With that said , this shows more than even what NBC themselves showed on that night of the opening ceremony . Thank Goodness for The Olympic Channel !! Please post the closing ceremony as well . Atlanta's organizers had said it themselves that they are not a world-famous metropolis, nor were they pretending to be one for the Olympics. Atlanta was all about Southern Hospitality, being genuine, and showcasing a part of America to the world not often talked about in pop culture. I think the 1996 Olympics really shines in its warmth and energy, something that many successor games lack despite being bigger and more flashy.
