The screen brightness adjustment and dimming is impossible due to the ATS-25 lacking a transistor going to the screen. There's two other transistors missing that helps deal with the pop sound when changing the band, and turning the unit on. A lot of the noise that the ATS-25 produces can be minimized by better internal grounding. A lot of the issue is due to the case being anodized aluminum which doesn't work well for transferring ground between boards. Running a wire internally from the ground of the antenna to two bolts to the top and bottom parts of the case helps remove a lot of the noise, but doesn't fully remove it. I am not sure if there's a place on the board/s in the ATS-25 to add the missing transistors to get the brightness adjustment or dimming to work or not.

I guess its nice to be able to compare then you can see what the best value is

Interestingly I'm now seeing a new ATS-100 pocket radio with colour screen, it's new to me anyway, looks a lot smaller form factor than the PL-365

I have an ats 25 max ...checked it out and found it's not at all sensitive with the onboard telescopic antenna . After opening it I found that the manufacturer paid no attention to the rf front end . There are no filters on MW ,LW ,SW . FM does have a tiny inductor which i doubt has the correct value.Out of the box it's pretty useless with the supplied antenna . External antenna may be effective .. Screen noise is too much As of today, I am working on it to improve sensitivity...I am confident it would be very sensitive after the mod.

I got the ATS 25x1 the vfo on it after a small bit of use came undone thers a small bolt that works undone I think for 150 ponds that there's a lot better radio out there made better too can you give us newbies a list of radios that are please thanks Ian walker. Love your chanal

Thanks for answering my query about if its worth the upgrade from 20 to 25, much appreciate your response. I have the 20 already and bought it for around £42 off ebaY...not long after I ordered it the 25 came into my orbit of attention and I see it selling cheapest at £102 on ebay so I kinda had "buyers remorse" over the 20. Yes it looks a lot different but I'm not sure if performance-wise its worth buying while also having the 20 or that much of an improvement in the implementation of the Si-4732 chip. It seems pretty similar ie the noise with the telscopic, chufffing/soft mute when tuning..it may not be a huge upgrade afterall. Can't turn off the screen, that was a battery saving feature and maybe it is also a source of noise like on some Malachits. I then was thinking of selling the 20 and buying the 25, but will hold off on that for another while maybe. You have a great selection of radios there. Which Wellbrook loop do you use? ON MY 3RD ONE. WIFI RECOGNIZES MY GATEWAY, BUT SAYS DISCONNECTED. AND THE WIFI ICON IS NOT GREEN WHICH MEANS IT IS NOT CONNECTED. GUESS ITS TIME TO GIVE UP.

when charging the battery, does the green light go out when its fully charged, or does it indicate that the battery is full charged?

Bought one haven't even gotten it yet and I already regret it as I've learner these are rubbish radios and plagued with the screen noise and the model before them only last about a week before they break. Once I get it I'll be returning it. Shame as I wanted a portable receiver

My ATS-25 tunes "down" when I turn knob to the right. Can that be changed in some settings menu? Am I able to remove ribbon cable behind tuner knob and turn cable around in the other direction to fix this?

Checking these out again last night & it was £70 for the 25 or £140 for the 25i, is the 25i worth double the money?

My unit's encoder takes 2 detents to increment or decrement. Is this normal, or does my ats25 have a problem? My old ats20 increments with each detent.

Got my receiver, and it is rubbish I cannot receive any signals on any ham bands broadcast ok CB no it looks good but rubbish not worth the money, I did get my money back £50 and keep the radio now got a new door stop.
