Do you know if ATS will sell the bellhousing? Im in the middle of a Fummins build and im running different adapter plates and it would be nice to just run the factory dodge and be done.
@SteedDolan3 жыл бұрын
I believe they will, just need to give them a call and see what individual parts are available.

🤣 well at least you don't need hearing aids. If your issue is not hearing the motor it's least of your concerns. But at least you hear something.

How is the shifting compared to the aisin? Also that truck seamed to have a lot of messages, is that to be expected with the switch or is that actual issues with that truck

Probably just all of the deleted parts of the engine. But sucks though that you have to keep all of the check engine lights on . Plus drop 15-20k on this transmission on an 80k truck lol But Allison will last forever
@ryanselleck60352 жыл бұрын
When the truck is tuned with a tune like efi live the tuner can make the lights go out to the systems that were affected by deleting. This is just a case of just saying fuck it and sending it! Ats brags that they have retained all functions for there swap so everything in theory should function like stock, if it doesn’t it’s operator/mechanic failure. Also ats is not the only one with this kit. CA conversions specialize in this and have had a kit on the market for Atleast 6 years that my buddy went through to swap his 2014. There kit at the time did not retain the prnd on the dash and had to keep a separate indicator

@@ryanselleck6035How’s he liking the kit? My 68rfe has almost 300k and it’s the original, still running fine….. I am trying to decide what to do though. ATS is crazy expensive.
@ryan0575311 ай бұрын
@@user-ym9wb2mk5e he likes it. It’s not idiot proof thou. He has a Alison 1000 behind it and he also re geared the truck to 373 from the 355 I believe is rams old highway gears. It still lugs the truck and he finds himself manually shifting it with a trailer sometimes. It also maybe something to do with the silver bullet turbo he runs being a little less responsive. I think the only issue he has had is a installer issue. They ran hydraulic lines for cooler hoses and a rock must of picked up just right and pieces the line and drained the fluid out. Ran it home to the point of not moving but it didn’t burn up the trans. They put the steel lines on and filled the trans up changed the filters and still going strong with 750rwhp. This Allison swap was after two ATS built stage 4 or the strongest 68rfe package they offered. They were kinda garbage but I’ve heard that from many that there trans line is not all that great.
@user-ym9wb2mk5e11 ай бұрын
And to think, Ram cheaper out and just added some upgraded parts to what was a half ton trans. What a waste…. Love my 12’ Megacab, but wonder if you can get a used aisin for an easier swap out?

Hey man I’ve watched a couple of your Allison videos and I’m thinking about swapping my 68rfe to the ats allison. Are there any cons to it? Even the little details? What trans temp do you commonly see? How has it held up for a year? I’ve got some performance mods on my motor making around 600hp, 37s and currently stock gear ratio (yes I know is a HORRIBLE thing) I’m really just wanting to make sure that this is well worth the penny before I throw the change at the truck instead of sticking with a stage 2 68rfe
@SteedDolan Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response, my transmission is completely stock and in the summer it gets up to temp. But the rest of the year it's around 130 driving unloaded. There really isn't anything bad about the swap. As long as you have a 2007.5+ 6.7 it's a factory replacement. Every vehicle function you had still works with the conversion.

Lol yeah only con is the price. Almost 2x as much with labor as 68 if you want decent power ie 950-1100.
@SteedDolan Жыл бұрын
@@sebastiancuadrado5312 you cant build a 68RFE to compete with a Allison. Thats like saying a Dana 44 is stronger than a Dana 60. You can dump a ton of money into it and make it strong but its still not the same as a Dana 60. In this case the 68RFE is the Dana 44, look at the size of the clutch packs, gears and shafts. The surface area of the Allison is 2.5 times the size of the 68RFE.

If you have purchased an Allison conversion from this company. The Aluminum bell housing are made in China. They had cracks and pitting in the metal. Clint advised his team to fix the cracks in house. If you are having bell housing issue this is the reason. Cheap company that says he has American made parts by Americans. here is a quote from there company website. I'm curious if you could go over the electronics a little more in depth. Does the truck recognize slip. How does the transmission tuning relate to the learning. What differences are noticeable. How does the engine and transmission respond to added power(assuming transmission is built).
@SteedDolan3 жыл бұрын
The kit is a bridge. It merges the Dodge ECM to the Allison TCU. I would assume the Allison TCU would control any slip issues? The ECU may calculate and derate. However, I don't know. I know the bridge broadcasts a lot of data so i would hope the ECU could derate if needed to.
@user-ym9wb2mk5e11 ай бұрын
I called them yesterday. In a nutshell, their software controller tricks the trucks ECU into thinking the Allison is an Aisin trans.
@harizon88622 жыл бұрын
If you can swap the trans could you theoretically put a Chevy transfer case in a Dodge? I wanna do this swap on a Cummins but I want to have 4WD Auto for when the weather gets bad
@SteedDolan2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you could. If its a auto shift you need to look at the power requirements for the drivers.
@jayraysdiy8522 жыл бұрын
what about CA Conversions? They say “Allison behind everything.”
@SteedDolan2 жыл бұрын
When looking at the 2007.5 Ram 6.7. CAC conversion acts like a stand alone product and doesn't work well, to use their product you have to give up alot of features. The ATS kit is a true factory replacement while CAC is not. ATS is working on a stand alone controller that will be in direct competition to their "Allison behind everything" and I have no doubt it'll be better.
@jayraysdiy8522 жыл бұрын
@@SteedDolan I’m not saying one is better than the other as I am not experienced with them at this point. I’m just saying they are not the only company doing it.

@@jayraysdiy852 I never said they were, but one makes the dash, remote start, and every other function work and the other dont. I can go into the weeds of how CAC does it compared to ATS but not sure if you want that much detail.

@SteedDolan Жыл бұрын
This is stock GM calibration. One issue is the Cummins red lines where the GM will shift. Before any TCM tuning, ATS makes sure it runs. There are zero codes on the TCM and vehicle. It's 100% plug and play and will pass emissions. No other Allison conversion offer's this. ATS now uses the T87A, everyone else uses dump truck TCMs or the A40. But put a big load behind your 68 and the Allison will smoke it in any gear. There's no comparison when looking at the massive size difference between the two
