I agree with you there. The first season was good and all, but it was just Eren raging and killing every single titan. He kept screaming that every episode. It's good nonetheless. Season 2 made me think the series differently and made me read the manga. It was short, but so many background characters became important and some even antagonists. This was when the whole plot started developing. Season 3 was outstanding. More history about the titans and the first part was less titan killing action, which upset me a bit, but I was still sold. The second part is probably the climax of the series. That was when the plot began to surface more and more, adding the fact that Eren is a changed person from the first season. He's calm rather than impulsive and rash and a "suicidal maniac." The final season will be the ultimate climax of the series.

First half had some of the best animation put to TV, second half had some of the best story telling put to TV. GG

Imo, after revealing what is in the basement to the wall society, Erwin would actually lose all motivation. You see, it’s been very well established that his sole reason for having his insane, brilliant “gambler’s” mindset is because of his desperation for proving his father’s theory and being there to see it. I think that after proving his father’s theory, he would finally be crushed by the weight of his comrades deaths, comrades he himself had ordered to their deaths for the sake of a personal goal.

I mean, in the end, he just looked so damned tired, you know? In his eyes. I think that that final push was all he had left.

It's her comparison to Eren and her growth as she realises that everyone is a monster that I find so compelling.
