Audi A4 A5 Sway bar Links and Sway Bar Bushings LOUD POP repair

Loud popping noises on your suspension can be caused by bad sway bar link and/or sway bar bushings. In this video, I take apart an Audi a5 and upgrade the links with polyurethane MOOG links and fresh bushings. Easy repair for a really annoying situation!

Thanks for the focused video on just the bushings. I find some silicon spray on the sway bar helps with bushing removal and installation.

thanks bro fro the video. but just one tip for your friend when you replaced the sway bar bushings also make sure to replace the "sway bar links" the ones that connect your struct to the sway bar that you just replaced the bushing. when you replace the links it fixes everything. i did that on my car is not audi is a toyota and it runs really nice now. lol i was typing my comment before finishing watching the whole video lol. Yeah is always good to replace sway bar bushing together with the sway bar links.

Love the video bro. I saw in the manual, though, that before replacing a sway bar, the specific wheel has to be put into curb weight position. It's not to say it won't work, but they say the bar may not last as long if that's not done. Is that too big a deal or no?

ive done the sway bar link only about 5 months ago, with a very minimum tools. not a single problem occurs till now. fingers cross. lol

Ideally one uses a floor jack / ramps to move the wheels back to "loaded" position (aka curb weight position) when tightening down suspension parts (control arm bolts, sway bar bushing bolts, link bolts, etc.). Not doing so will accelerate the wear on the bushings but you'll probably just need to replace in 5 years vs 10 years for rubber bushings.

Hi, my A4 B8 had a minor popping noise from driver undercarriage when taking off from stationary to gear 2, 3 and 4. I have replaced all the front control arms bushings for your info. Do you suspect the problem to be caused by shock absorbers or sway bar link or something else?

You should check the bolts to the cross brace on the underside of your car. These have 6 large bolts holding it in place. My B8 S5 had a popping noise going over bumps and turns out one of the bolts became somehow loose. So I replaced them and problem solved.

Hi @@reeseboi8704 it happened on normal straight roads without bumps. I changed my shock absorbers and problem persists. Can you show me a photo of which bolts you are referring to? Thank you.

I suggest inspecting and replacing the transmission and engine mounts if the noise happens when the transmission shifts gears.
