Thanks for the shout out and the reminder! Glad it’s being used, would have sat in the bottom of a tool box otherwise!

A few weeks on and no dramas from the brakes so it clearly did a decent job. Let me know if/when you need it back.

Thank you very much for your helping video. I have the same car, same year, but the Cabrio version. I suppose they have the same brake components. Congratulations.

Yes, I think they will be the same for all models. But the best way to check is to use this website www.autodoc.co.uk

Thanks for this video - best bit was learning the carrier didn’t need to come off - hallelujah!

No problem and yes, not having to remove the carrier saves a decent chunk of time and effort!

How do you adjust the handbrake cable. Or are they self adjusting
@MostlyHelpful
@MostlyHelpful Жыл бұрын
The calipers are the "wind in piston" type which suggests that the handbrake should take up any variation in the pad thickness. If you handbrake comes up too high then it might be cable stretch, which I "think" you can adjust at the lever end.

Ok so on the B6, you don't have to remove the Carriers to get the rotors on? I'm doing this job now and tried getting these carriers off and there Rediculously hard. The rotors came right off but i didnt try to get the rotors on yet

Yes, that's right, no need to remove the caliper carrier. I'm not sure if that applies to the S4 though since I assume that has beefier discs than the rest of the range.

@Mostly Helpful Thanks for replying man. Ok so on My B6, once we pulled off the Rotors, after cleaning the Carriers with steel wire brushes, I put the rotor in on an angle, and lightly tapped the outside of it with a Rubber Mallet. Worked perfectly! Thanks man

Everything was perfect with two big exceptions:The first exception is that you didn't grease the disc holder with copper vaseline before putting the disc in and the second exception is that you tightened the bearings directly with the drill and not by hand a few turns

Thanks and yes regarding the former, you are correct. I have copper grease so that's easily fixed, but when you say bearings do you mean wheel bolts?
@Actiune

@@MostlyHelpful yes yes, the bolts. Dunno why I wrote bearings.... maybe the "autocorrect" 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Sounds like something isn't right. Have you taken it for a drive and checked the brakes under normal use first?
@fredthered73

did not have to bleed breaks then ?
@MostlyHelpful
@MostlyHelpful 11 ай бұрын
To do this job it wasn't necessary to bleed the brakes. It's always good practice to do that though given the wheels are off and so on.

Sounds like there is a problem with one of your ABS sensors and perhaps it was damaged during the installation of the discs and pads. Hope you manage to get it fixed.
