Man what a great public service!! Thanks! You are one hell of a mechanic.... I have an '02 Passat 1.8t which is throwing codes PO442 and PO411. Are they related? Cant get inspected. You make it look easy, but this is one of the most difficult cars to work on that I have encountered. Thanks for your efforts and time.....

Good video - thanks!!! Pump is difficult to take out, but kept working with it as you suggested and finally was able to remove it. Took the bolts and rubber grommets off the pump prior to removing in order to get it out. Also did not put bolts on new pump until had put it on.

Lithuanian? I have a friend who has the exact same accent...nice. Have the 16795 code and will check the system soon. Diagnostic says the fault is intermittent and points to the pump I believe. Car runs well enough though, even when cold. Thanks for the info. Well done.

best DIY on this diagnosis and repair. done the whole thing myself and it runs perfectly. btw. I've got the BEX variant of this engine on my a4 b6 and the pump is more to the center of the bumper, its rotated and bolts are more obcured. other than that the repair process is the same. audi moved it because of the second IC this engine variant has got.

Great troubleshooting video, spot on for my issue. Quick question - are both the SAI pump and the fuel pump running on the same relay, 373? Thanks for the response, keep up the great work!

Hey, great video! I have a question about the EGR/combi valve. I have a 2004 a4 b6 1.8t. I removed the combi valve and the adapter (the bracket it attaches to), and I noticed the engine block doesn't have a hole in it where the adapter attaches to. Is this common? Will it hurt the car and will everything function normally like this? The car seems to run good, but has a secondary air injection code. Eveything but the egr passed the tests. Thanks again!

Thank you for this video. I have 01.5 B5 Audi A4 1.8T with the dreaded P0411 SAI code. This code is a nightmare and I never properly diagnosed ever because I am not professional mechanic, just a hobbyist. My situation is that the SAI pump turns on but I still get the code.

yep, I have the same problem - had a blown fuse + pump does not running... already ordered replacement. 2001 allroad

When I disconnected my connector and hose from the pump they both had water. however my fuse was not blown. I know my combi valve is bad but do you also think my pump should be changed?

Hey bro!! i have a question maybe you know something.... i have boost leak, heavy steering, heavy brake pedal... and sometimes in the morning have rought idle .... so i did a leak test and it dont have any leak ...i change the HPFP,the vacum pump and the PCV valve... but still the issue.. so you think the issue is the secondary air pump??

The car jerks when driving constant speed at highway. Gives the fault code P0411 but can it cause this? Or is it possible that MAF sensor is faulty but does not give the fault code? I just unplugged the sensor and car still turned on like no effect at all. Didn't drive it, though.

what if the pump is on even after I've been driving the car for a while, I turn off the car and the pump starts to run? what do I do

I have a question if you have a slight leak from the exhaust manifold to the turbo housing on one of the three bolts that bolts the turbo to the exhaust msnifold do you think this is enough to trigger this code the p0411? I did a head gasket.and in the process of taking it apart one of the bolts broke inside the turbo housing and.I had to drill and retap it and I think I might have to redo it because it has a slight leak I can only see it on a cold start while the sec air pump is on because of the morning condensation then once the pump is off its off it stops like bubbling the moisture from the condensation I do not get any other codes and I have checked.everything else and its driving me.nuts any recommendations would help thanks

by the way the evap purge valve solenoid is constantly clicking and has like ,10-11 volts constantly and was not working and had a rotted check valve right after the evap pump bu the air filter and I changed out the check valve and its installed the correct way and I got the purge valve solenoid to work by twisting the screw inside it when before it was always.closed and not working so im like confused to as why I never got any codes before but now I do

Excellent diagnostic. BUT ... would think the reason the 40 amp fuse is blown would be good to know as well ??... there must be another issue to cause the fuse to be blown ?! Maybe pump is worn badly and near failure causing heat build-up , or ...??? Again, good diagnostic though ...

question- i replaced the combi valve, n75, and SAIP and smoke tested the system. do I need to run vag com diagnostics in order to clear the code or can I clear using an obd2? thanks

Yes you clear it with obd2 tool... N75 valve is not a part of secondary air injection system...

+EDGEMOTORS thank you. the n75 does run a line over to the combi valve. I needed to replace it BC I broke it during another repair

Ok quick question i pulled off a hose going to the air injection pump and water poured out...now what all should i look at to replace? I know more than likely the pump is bad but I don't have the program you were showing to test everything so i don't know what else is.

most likely your combi valve is stock open. thats the shiny thing behind the motor... take it of and see if it is in closed state and apply vac to it and see if it opens...

Hi I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8t 190 that has a P0411 code. A garage has quoted me £500 to replace the secondary air pump. I just want to make sure that this is the problem as I have erased the error code using a maxiscan scan tool and it takes around 2 weeks for the error code to come back again. I just wanted to check if it was defiantly the pump, or would the code come up as soon as I start the car after erasing?

all this code means, that the secondary air injection does not provide enough air flow. there could be allot of causes to that, including the air pump that the shop is telling you to replace. however does not automatically mean that the pump is bad like allot of shops suggest from just a computer scan. so i cant tell you from the code if the air pump is the issue, or the only issue... there have to be some diagnostics done before determine if the pump is the issue. if you watch the video, i explain how to check most of the systems parts

Great video!! My situation: Audi A4 1,6 2002 motorcode: ALZ. Got a dianose made earlier with a P1423 error - so my Secondary air pump is not running on cold start (2 degrees celcius outside now). I took the secondary air motor out and it was full with water. I don't have a VCDS diagnose tool, so I checked the fuse, not blown. Checked relay (373) saw video how to check it with wires onto the battery, it clicks. Haven't check selonoid, don't know how to. So I checked if power was delivered to pump cable with multimeter, doesn't seem to be any power comming through to the pump... Can't see any visual damage to the cable wrapping when following the cables... Do you have any ideas?

+Jens Jacob Storgaard Jensen theck the pump it self if it works by applying power to it directly... but if you had water in it, the combi valve behind the cylinder head is not closing, so you have to replace that .

Hi, I have this same problem where I have water in my SAI pump. But realized that my air filter was soaking up water as well, is this coming from the SAI pump?

Well if you getting water in the air pump, it could get sucked into the air box....

I have a problem with a no start, my pump turns on and stays on along with my fan, I understand now from your video how to cut off pump but can you give me a idea of what to do about the no start, I have fuel pressure, I changed the spark plugs and I have no codes

You will have a check engine light on, secondary air injection is for emissions only. It does not affect how engine runs, only supplies extra air to cold catalytic to warm it up so it could burn in burned fuel more efficiently.

lready I already put some new spark plugs and ignition coil. Still have the same problem Code : Random/Multiple Cylindre Misfire Detected P0300 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent p0302 - 008 It is not dripping coolant by the spark plugs, I mean they are dry (As it should be) Audi 2004 A4 Quattro 2004 1.8

Very long time ago but did you ever figure out the issue? Also I have a 14' s4 and have p0491 and p0492. Misfire on all 3 passenger cylinders, could the secondary air Injection cause this?

Hi mate I have a 2004 a4 1.8 turbo 190 Quattro I have code 0203 wot somrone told me it's misfire on 2 , I have changed spark plugs and coil but problem is still there can u help me pls cheers jason

Id need some more info, is it stock? Or you have some upgrades? Does it only happen at wot and on torque peak or other times too?

Yes its stock mate , at tick over its running ruff ,drive it wise over 3000rpm it goes put your foot down and goes but it then holds back.I've looked at some forums and someone has the same changed the ICM and was fine but someone else said could be one of the injectors its using a lot of water too a lot of clear smoke comes out the tail pipes only had the car a week got it cheap thou so was expecting too spend on it ,any help would be very welcome cheees

***** most likely your pump is burned... or the wiring is short to ground somewhere.. check the pump it self if its working.

where is the SAI relay located? it is not in the ECU box... only thing there is the fuse

+mike k if you have an A4, its there... you have to pull the ecu out and if its auto you have to pull the tcu out as well

Thanks, it was under the ecu like you said... Unfortunately it seems like all the components are working... Maybe a wiring issue at this point. The ecu is also not throwing any codes although the air pump doesn't come on even in -20deg Celsius weather...

you will not pass state emission test. and posibly way down the road will clogg up the cat.
