nice tutorial, thanks for filming it. I did an ashtray delete previously on audi s3 8p and I am happy to see that this option exists on a5 as well.

That is so clean and neat , u know what would of added a cherry on top it? if the charging pad came with some leds on it any sort of ambient lighting

What an amazing vid. Thank you for the turorial. I have a question-I can't get mine to charge unless the case is off. Any suggestions? Works great until I put a case on. I have an iphone 14 pro and I feel like the camera lenses creates separation from the tray. Thanks for any help you may have!

Maybe the case has some metal parts on it, that block wireless charging. Is it an Apple certified MagSafe case or some third party maybe the magnets interfere. My iPhone X and 11 Pro Max charge even with a case on, Pixel 6 also charged with case. Also my friends iPhone 12, so MagSafe iPhones seem to work. Which charging pad are you using? My old cheap one broke after a week haha, so I’m using an Anker PowerWave charger.

@@maximusoptimusTECH thanks for the quick response. I bought a new Belkin 15 watt qi certified pad. Maybe it’s older, because the latest iPhone listed on the package is the 12 Pro. Would you send me a link to your charger and I’ll get one? Thank you!

Maybe that’s a problem, I tried a MagSafe compatible pad first which didn’t work at all… This is the one I’m using: amzn.to/3kbU8H8

@@maximusoptimusTECH I just bought that charger. Doesn’t work with a case either. It’s definitely the camera lense on the iPhone 14 pro. Frustrating. Thanks for the reply!

Okey that’s weird… I know someone with the 14 Pro Max (with a MagSafe compatible case with the magnets) I’ll try charging that phone in my car tomorrow. So if that works the problem will be somewhere in your car/phone/case… Until then, have you tried wireless charging the phone outside of the car?

I’m sorry but don’t have them, and the creator didn’t share them. You have to buy the Shapeways print (which has pretty good quality thought) or design your own files unfortunately. Maybe you can find some on the forum but I didn’t found them sadly, otherwise I would have linked them here 😅

Why do people replace the 12v by wiring in a USB, rather than just plugging a 12v USB into the existing 12v?

Because it’s integrated into the ashtray, and in order to install the wireless charger you need to remove the whole ashtray.

$90 for plastic. That’s just stupid. I bought a wireless charging mat, stuck its wires in the ashtray, and plugged it into a cigarette lighter charger. Lastly stuck the mat on top of the ashtray. 3 mins tops. It looks factory af and certainly didn’t take so much juggling effort to make something that cost $90 look good. That is insane. I think the charging mat was $12, the 12V usb charger was $7.
