In today's video I will be showing you a simple technique on how to get your Audi A6 into 'service position'. This helps you access all kinds of areas for maintenance such as your serpentine belt, sensors, and much more. This applies for all models from late 2005 - 2011 3.0, 3.2, & 4.2.
To put these Audi's into service position it usually requires a special tool. But in this video, I will be showing you how to do it without ANY special tools!
Unless you are doing some intense engine work, you really don't have to go further than this step. No disconnecting the A/C lines, or draining coolant, or removing the transmission. Its like service position made easy!

Thanks for this man! I've spent half the day researching an alternator removal on my C6 RS6 and wondered what they meant by "service position". I have four Germans who have been worked on by "experts" the latest being my donor RS6 where a new battery was installed without coding in or reseting the BCM which appears to have fried the alternator. Needless to say I can appreciate the cowboy sentiment, if only you could see my E32 V12! The epitome of whorey work!

Forgot to show there is a t30 torx under and on the rear of the bumper supports, 1 torx each side on the sloped metal bracket. THEN it'll come off if it was properly assembled before you took it apart

Really useful vid bro. Do you think is it possible to change engine pulley without removing front completely?
@Mechani_Cole
@Mechani_Cole 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, just slide the front forward like in the video and it should give you enough room. A strong impact gun is the best bet
@2BugsandaBack

Very useful video, thanks for taking the time to make it. I'll just add that for the TDi models like mine, there's a large pipe that runs below the radiator and goes from one intercooler to the other. You have to disconnect it from the intercoolers at each end - it's just a standard hose clamp.

Thanks 😂for the laugh made me holler in laughter when you said if you have trouble pulling the front bumper I wouldn't suggest proceeding any further lmfao 🤣 😂 I personally like to swing the passenger side of the front clip out and use jack stands so it just hangs on the stands you don't have to disconnect the lines and that gives you a fook tone of room

We all have to learn how to work on German cars one way or another what makes the difference is if someone slows down and takes there time so they don't break stuff or just being a hack job that just rips and tears into shit breaking stuff along the way
@Mechani_Cole
@Mechani_Cole 4 ай бұрын
The last 4 A6's I have bought all had ripped bumper from hack jobs moving to fast and not knowing what they are doing. Agreed!
@keepthinking2666
@keepthinking2666 Жыл бұрын
I don't know if you've noticed this but you're not supposed to separate the bumper from the aluminum All you have to do is take off the six bolts on the side of the bumper take out the two at the fog light that will take off your bumper then hit up those three in the front at the crash bar or a couple on the top and slide it forward it's not a hack it's just common sense for anyone that's worked on these cars for a long time knows this
@Mechani_Cole
@Mechani_Cole Жыл бұрын
You'll have to make a video showing how that's faster and this isn't a hack🤷🏼‍♂️ If you didn't notice, my channel is for people who don't work on these cars all the time. Plenty of people used this method and were appreciative of the video✌🏼

@Mechani_Cole I am south of Olympia, wa....I have 2 audis that need work. I am not a rich chi k, so I do all work myself. But, having a reliable guide to follow or correct advice is a godsend! I can read and follow directions, so I am able to do most things if what I am reading is legit. Do you own a shop in the area? I'd be interested in maybe talking about a few things with someone who is not going to steer me wrong. I've enjoyed the videos I've seen. Good content that's easy to follow is highly appreciated. Have a good one! ✌️

@Mechani_Cole

Yes. Although keep in mind, timing on these engines is in the back. So it really doesn't give you much more room.

Any shop in Peirce County WA haha. I sold it and honestly forgot the exact name of the shop. If they don't know Euro cars, don't take your car there is a good tip. If you have the only Audi at the shop, you are in the wrong place haha😅

Hm. I've found that cedar block is the most sturdy and aromatic for propping open metal spaces, but you shouldn't sleep on a good Pine or Douglas Fir. I'd steer clear of dime-a-dozen bamboos and baby soft balsas. They may offer a unique look while wedged tightly between two random hunks of metal, but you'll find their aptitude at holding their position is often lacking. As my mother would attest, you need to have the CORRECT hardwood propper-opener. I enjoyed your video, but I'm giving a thumbs down for improper wood usage, I'm sorry, but you need to learn your lesson.
