Thomas EXOVCDS i have a quick question since you know these b7 so well i have gurgling sound on acceleration sounds to me like oil in the turbo breather valve the silver accordion that's goes from vc to back of turbo there is oil in it so i'm thinking the back flow valve is bad also think it is throwing a po299 code because of it not the dv valve you're thoughts?
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 6 жыл бұрын
Sorry about the late reply... that's the fresh air side (for the VC) / on the suction side of the turbo (if I'm picturing things correctly). Boost is on the other side of the turbo. If the PCV check valve at the manifold end is no good... that "could" allow boost to enter the VC and then make its way toward the turbo inlet side via the metal accordion tube.

Be sure to let your mechanic know so he can save you some time / money. Best to stick with one service shop, rather than shop around. The more familiar a shop is with your vehicle, the better maintenance history you will have and fewer doubts about who did what / who caused what when the time comes to place blame.

Well done a difficult job made to look easy!I find that N208 valve on the left is east to break when used to pry against for the pump removal and great care needs to be taken at the HPFP as that top sensor connection becomes very brittle with age and is only sold as a full pump unit.

@@EXOVCDS I finally did the job and thank you so much for posting the video because it was a great reference to go from the garage to the computer. I had to purchase mini ratchet set because the small ones I had would not fit in the tight gap. Typical Audis with their lack of work space. The worst bolt was the bottom one as I was having a hard time finding the bolt and holding the ratchet in place making sure I don't drop anything. Hey I have an oil leak back there. Mechanic told me it's the vacuum pump o ring, but it's preferred to replace the whole pump since fixing the o ring usually is a problem he says. So my question is what tools exactly would you recommend to make this job less of a pain? Also I have a P0100 cel. Mechanic told me it could be a variety of reasons, and that he would open up the cam adjuster cover and see if any particles are in there from the old cam follower that was shot or see what's going on. Can you make a video of removing the cam adjuster cover?
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 6 жыл бұрын
Tools are listed in the video... the pain is the "lack of room", not what tools are required. Sounds like your guy knows what he's talking about... follow his recommendations. I can only record what I get my hands on... I may or may not get a chance to record a cam adjuster / cover removal in 2018.

Great video!! I have to do this with mine because it’s leaking oil. On the reinstall do I need to torque the three bolts or just do it nice and tight? Thanks
@EXOVCDS

You'll have difficulty getting a torque wrench in there... so yes, tight, but not too tight, just tight enough to be tight. Snug-tight.

Hi Thomas. Quuestion : Vacuum pump is held by 3 bolts t 30 more one bracket held by a Bolt t 30, or the Bolt t 30 that holds the bracket, holds the vacuup pump too?

I'd have to watch the video again... I've only replaced a couple pumps so far. If the pump does not want to budge after removing 3 bolts... look for another, but I'm pretty sure it's just held on my 3.

What do you think of these b7 2.0t engines ? I'd like to get one but keep hearing mixed reviews I heard they use oil but most vehicle's with turbos do. I was looking for the 1.8t but they are getting old and hard to find with low km.
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 6 жыл бұрын
THIBAULT Many engines were replaced / overhauled to solve oil burning issues. I'd go with a 1.8t over the 2.0t... many others would say the opposite. If you find a decent / rust free / well kept car... no matter the engine, overhauling the old / tired engine will pay for itself over the following 8+ years of ownership. Both engines can be upgraded / tuned to suit ones needs. Standard / auto / front or all wheel drive... all comes down to personal preference. Go with what your gut says! =)

Cycle the key a few times to get the in-tank pump to push fuel into the tandem pump. The PD engine is not as sensitive to needing bleeding as the newer generation pumps (in my experience).

I have never overhauled a pump... not even sure if seals are available. Age of pump also suggests internal wear, not just seals wearing out. It'll be a judgment call. If you can find a seal kit, start with that instead of a complete pump.
