If the horn ring or the copper wiper wears out you can buy new ring or aftermarket lever assemblies. They are a bit flimsier than the originals though.

Yes, it has a tapered leading edge that can be useful to get between 2 items. At the beginning of the video I'm pressing it between 2 plastic pieces. Rather than just pull on the plastic pipe, I'm using the tool to push from the back while I pull. Sometimes, the pipe pulls out easily... without having to use any tools.

Hi Thomas! 2003 EV crank, but no-start condition. Had been giving hard start for some time when starting warm, assumed it was faulty temp sensor reporting it was "cold" and giving too much fuel. Then suddenly hard warm start turns to now crank, no-start. Replaced fuel pump, checked pump relay, jumper'd pump relay, replaced crank sensor, can see 200 RPM upon crank in scanner, checked immobilizer module in scan tool, tried both keys. No codes in any module. No fuses blown anywhere. How to test fuel pressure and spark on the coiled VR6 ? Anything else to check? Thanks! - Jon

Remove the plastic intake tube from the throttle body... have someone turn the key to ON and step on the gas pedal. With the throttle partially or fully open, spray some brake parts cleaner into the throttle body. Release gas pedal / let throttle close. Try to start engine (intake tube can stay off). Does engine sound like it wants to start? If yes, then spark is OK. Let me know what happens and I'll give you more instructions.
@jwidmann1

Starter-fluid test confirms good spark. Started right up and ran fine for 5 seconds until fuel-starved again. Symptom was hard warm-starting with excess fuel smell. Then finally crank, no-start. I have a fuel pressure regulator coming in mail by weekend. How far down inside the AXK VR6 is the fuel rail? (How much stuff to remove? Is it enough work space to just tilt forward the radiator into service position?) I can hear the fuel pump prime with Key-On. I also jumpered the pump relay and had the pump run constant. Fuel filter replaced less than 10kmi ago. Thanks, Thomas!
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 3 күн бұрын
Fuse 18 feeds the fuel pump and the injectors. If the pump runs, then the injectors should get power. Disconnect the main harness plug at the injector rail. Confirm that the injector power wires (2 of them red/blue) are getting power when the key is cycled on (for 1 to 2 seconds) and while the engine is cranking. What scan tool are you using? Not all scan tools can read all codes.

@jwidmann1 3 күн бұрын
Can't find any photos or diagrams of the AKX's fuel system. I have a bad feeling this is quite a tear-down just to get to the fuel rail and regulator. I can't even spot the fuel lines going into the engine and rail. On a 2.5L the regulator and fuel lines are right out in the open. Not so on the AXK VR6.

You are telling me that they are NOT interchangeable.... so why ask me if they are?

They both do the same thing (allow the alternator to over-run when the engine is slowing down). As long as the one-way clutch is working in the correct direction, you can use either style of pulley. Depending on the normal rotation direction of the alternator, the correct pulley needs to be installed (clockwise clutch or counterclockwise clutch).

@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 5 күн бұрын
VCDS will only be helpful with reading injector fault codes. Open or short to + Open or short to - You then have to check the wiring. If wiring is ok, check resistance of the injectors. Keep in mind that resistance can be ok when the injector is cold and be bad when it is warm. The best way to see injector problems is with an oscilloscope.

TDI engines take a long time before the fans come on. If the engine is NOT overheating, then the water pump is OK. If the engine IS overheating, even when at cruising speed, then the water pump is bad.

@@EXOVCDS hey man thanks for the reply!!! It doesn’t overheat at all but even after letting get to operating temp the fans don’t kick on and there’s never ac. I do have flow and there seems to be heat inside so should I change my thermostat again ? ( also I noticed that my top radiator hose is very warm after running and the bottom one that goes into the thermostat is not. This indactes a bad thermostat right ? I might have got a faulty one from the parts store)
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 6 күн бұрын
@bryanmartinez8191 No AC as in not blowing cold (but has AC)... or no AC in the car (no compressor)? If you have AC but the fans don't come on when AC is selected, then you might not have enough AC gas in the system. Like I said, fans take a long time to come on with TDI engines. Hold the rpm at 2500. It'll take more than 10min before the bottom hose gets warm. As soon as the thermostat opens a little, it will close again due to the cooler coolant entering the engine. Eventually the radiator will get warm and the rad fans will come on. If no fans or only 1 fan comes on when the radiator fan switch is bypassed, then you have to look for bad wiring/ corrosion... since you said both fans work at low & high when activated directly.

@@EXOVCDS I'm not a mechanic so I can't really answer your questions, and the reason I asked if it was the EGR was because I have been looking for this error here on KZfaq and some videos shows that it might be the reason for the issue but I'm not sure (and my mechanic does not know how to solve this issue).. However I can say that the when starting the engine on a cold start it does not make any strange or unusual noise, but the fuel consumption is much hier than what it supposed to be - there is no leakage of fuel, but the car consumes 1 liter for each 4.5km while it should consume between 1:6 and 1:11. I thought the reason might be because of the spark plugs as they were burned out, so I just replaced them with 4 new NGK Iridium IX Spark plugs. I might be wrong, but I do believe that there is a small issue with an incorrect airflow due to the fact that the car has a unusual high fuel consumption, and when driving around the 50-60km/h you can feel a very short and small vibration of the car (if it's the correct word to describe it) - noting serious but it can still be felt. Do you know how can I solve this issue, resolve the high fuel consumption, remove this "vibration", and resolve this p0411 check engine error?
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 6 күн бұрын
@israelazoulay7643 P0411 will not cause bad fuel economy. To solve P0411 you have to check a few things because P0411 can be set for a variety of reasons... that's why I asked what I asked. If your mechanic does not know how to check why P0411 is present or why you have high fuel consumption, find a different mechanic. I can tell you what to check, but if you do not have the tools to check... you will not be able to do it. It is quicker to find a good mechanic.

The control pressure regulator plug has 2 wires. One is a ground wire (brown) and the other is the power wire for the heating element. The fuel pump relay is what supplies power to that power wire. By applying power to that wire, power is fed to all the components that would normally receive power from the fuel pump relay. The bent / stiff wire that I connected the jumper wire to... only touched the power wire of the warm up regulator plug.

Hi, I am not sure if this is the right place for my question. I have a 95 eurovan. The temp gauge works and the fan comes on while driving. However, on a hot day and I am driving slowly to find a parking spot in the mall, after I turn the engine off it will not start again. It will crank. I lift the hood and notice the engine bay is extremely hot. After 5 minutes of cooling, the engine starts again. I notice there are fine cracks in each resistor. The ignition coil specs are good. Any ideas?
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 9 күн бұрын
Rad fan resistor packs will not cause a no-start. Fuel pressure in the fuel rail is either dropping (over time) causing "vapor lock" or the hall sensor in the distributor is faulty (when hot). If you do not have "spark" from the ignition coil when the engine is hot and you are cranking the engine (takes 2 people to check for spark)... then I would suspect the hall sensor inside the distributor.
