The Audi TT is a lovely little performance two-door that competes with the likes of the BMW M240i and the Mercedes-Benz SLC. It is a car that was big in the late nineties but has tailed off a bit this decade - and now Audi are saying they will replace it with an electric SUV. Should they? In this episode, Tom drives a bright blue 2020 Audi TTS in Sydney to find out.

Looks is why this car has been my dream car for many years. There's just nothing like it. I leased a Gen 2 TT in 2012 and loved it. 2 other Audi models later I decided to pursue my real passion. Glad I found my 2017 TTS in Glacier White - it's a jaw dropping car, luxurious and very fast... You're right about the suspension though, it's jarring. I have mine set with all the Dynamic settings except for comfort suspension. But to this day whenever I park my TTS I stop to look at it. Doesn't get old.

As a MK1 3.2 owner, while I can appreciate the later generations for their notable improvements for both performance (especially) and tech, they still don’t encapsulate the specialness and perceived interior quality as the original. With that being said, the TT is massively under-appreciated and certainly will be missed. Possibly even considered future classics (biased opinion maybe.)

Lov my 2008 TT mk2 VR6 3.2. 130,000 miles, light silver metallic. Brillant Car and running STRONG.

Liked the first gen TT even though it was called a" hairdressers" car, was a nice looking little car .

Right, I had the 8n 1st-Gen for 16 years, 8 years a 1.8 Turbo Quattro and then 8 years the 3.2 V6, two absolutely amazing beautiful cars ... always thought I'd never wanted any of the other TT models, but I just got the new TTS (October 2020) and I must say I'm very happy with it, still amazing and beautiful 😍 even though I'm having trouble with my first automatic 🙈

I bought the Black Edition TTS. Traded my silver 2015 TT for it. 5 more years of driving bliss.

I got a diesel version, had a stage 2 remap, 260hp its not far behind the TTs in terms of performance, and what a great interface, a very driver dedicated car

I bet the diesel one would’ve been a good choice for it’s bigger range and softer dynamic for Australia, just as it was here in the UK 🚙👍🏻

It’s the sound of the ttrs that really makes me not want this. Honestly performance wise I’d be all good with a tts, but that 5 cylinder sound is just too good to pass.

I have the tt 3.2 v6 . It’s a brilliant car with a great engine. Unlike my last Bmw.

Fair enough - it's getting hard to find recent Golf R manuals since their sad decision to stop bringing them to Australia. No new examples left on Carsales, though I do note a tempting white 2018 Mk 7.5 model with 5,000km on the clock for $46k…

I have owned 2 TT's. (of the previous generation) The first one was a standard "Sport" . Great, that is why I bought a second one. It was an S-Line. Not a good choice for "normal town driving" . The suspension was TOO solid for our (UK) roads. It wasn't nearly as enjoyable to drive. I regret that I ordered the S-Line. As far as the boot/carrying capacity is concerned they were fantastic. With the back seats folded, I could carry a full size drum kit complete with cymbals and stands etc. I would love another TT!!!!!!

Excellent review, as always. Audi are stupid to stop production of this car, but then I don't know if it does not sell anymore. If it's so.... then let's say it's understandable... As a suggestion, if you don't mind, I would like to have the car characteristics on screen for a couple of seconds and during that time you could stop your story. I've seen this with other reviewers and it's VERY informative.

Australians get ripped off for foreign cars, the idiot Labor govt brought in a luxury car tax a few years ago, just another way to rip people off. I bought a 2013 Audi TT roadster brand new in 2013 and i paid at least $25,000 to $30,000 less than i would have if i would have bought it in Sydney. I love my Audi TT, so much fun in the summer with the roof down and the music up.

Supra looks like a punk ricer auto 240i looks like bmw gave up - meh TT is stunning inside & out and adults can drive while not looking like a poser
