Tour also criticized his abilities rather than his person/character. He gave constructive(ish) criticism by pointing out Dave's weaknesses relevant to the discussion rather than trying to defame the individual. Tour "won" that detail of the debate.

Dave’s entire debate was Ad Hominem. If he had any evidence, why didn’t he explain it instead of reading titles off of discredited and outdated papers? As a Med Lab Tech, I gotta say, belief in Abiogenesis takes a lot more religious faith than any cult currently demands. The odds are Astronomical and Billions of years hinder (not help) it’s chances. At this point, selling Abiogenesis as a “Scientific” theory holds less weight than mythical Zeus.

You should see the past debunk videos that Dave made on tour, like the second one. James gave Dave no respect, especially when James was making fun of Dave’s past career choices and experience. So Dave didn’t feel like give James any compliments in return. Dave won’t fake kindness, but James does. That’s the difference between these two. The “kindness” that James gives feels insincere. Especially since James’s behavior was terrible during this event.

I came into this debate initially on Dave's side and my mind got changed. I wouldn't say we "clueless", per se, about origin of life, but I don't think we have nearly as much worked out as Dave claims.

Popular consensus always challenges the most famous ideas because disproving them means a lot of prestige. Farina calls himself Professor Dave. Professorship? Show me where. He's more like 3rd Rate Teaching Assistant Dave. Ask him a question, he'll insult you, then tell you to go read a book. Farina's only acedemic credential is his Bachelor of Arts (not even a Bachelor of Science) in chemistry from Carleton College a Liberal Arts college in Minnesota. Dr. Tour is giving this phoney way too much credit.

I think you should learn what a Bachelor Arts in Chemistry is, because it does, in fact, have things to do with science. It is an official degree in chemistry, similar to how a person can be called a doctor without any medical knowledge. Titles get misleading at times.

Let's not pretend that a BA is as rigorous a discipline as a BS. Mr.Farina is not in the same league as Dr. Tour and doesn't deserve to be on the same stage as Dr.Tour. It is only by the gracious generosity of Dr. Tour that "Professor Dave" was invited to be there. Despite being the recipient of Dr. Tour's generosity, Mr. Farina repeatedly displayed his crass personality and went so far to insult and slander Dr. Tour in saying that Dr. Tour was lying. When referring to Dave Farina, BA stands for Blatant A-hole.

I don’t think your rank of education is very important here, because James doesn’t have a Doctorate in Origin of Life research, nor any of the necessary background. While Dave is in a similar position (of not having the right qualifications to claim he knows the ins and outs of Origin of Life Research), he does not contradict or misrepresent the research of that field. He reads the papers and studies the copious amounts of Research that was done by other people who have been studying this field for years. He takes this knowledge and presents it to the common folk. He even asks others who personally study the field to help him explain things. All I’ve seen James do is repeat the same irrelevant talking points and misinterpret research. Various people who James had slandered even commented on the incorrect interpretations James made. This can be seen in Dave’s debunk videos. 😳

When I say he was out of his league, I mean that Dr. Tour did his best to remove hyperbole, so he asked some straightforward questions. He wrote them on the board and asked Dave to answer the questions on the board. That was all he had to do to win the argument. But it was clear that he could not do it. I have taught many subjects that I know inside out, and when a student comes to me and tries to explain or talk on a subject, I know I can tell their level very quickly.

Dave may have a website, wife and two kids, and a load of subscribers on his YT channel but he needs to learn a lesson or two on humility and how to properly debate and respect his opponent. He constantly attacked Dr. James Tour's character in the debate rather than refute the arguments he made. It was embarrassing. James Tour won that debate hard.

@@meraldlag4336 No he didn't, he just cited various "research papers", but if you watched Dr. James Tour's series on the origin of life, he explains that the summary of those research papers don't even fully explain how life first originated (they actually agree with Dr. Tour's analysis), and then the authors mislead people with faulty headlines saying they do understand how life began. And poor Dave Farina bought into this without looking into the data of the papers themselves, which agrees with what James Tour has said time and time again: That, as of right now, we are clueless on the origin of life.

@@meraldlag4336 They're misleading in the headlines their authors point out. When looking at the substance that is in the research papers, they don't fully answer the 5 main questions that Dr. Tour said MUST be answered to solve how life first originated. So in that regard, yes, the scientists claiming in the research papers that we do know how life first originated are wrong. We don't. That isn't to say we won't find out how life originated someday, nor is it to say "therefore God" as that's God of the gaps, but as of right now, we simply don't know how life first originated.

@@andylewis7360 yeah, funnily enough Dave farina replied a few more times. Challenged I pursued watching his videos. After about 7 or 8 videos. I found the crux of his opinion. His personality is very self absorbed. Even when pressed on using current simple cells as the model for single cells and dave is cornered, he will say "it is a proto-cell that we can't (actually) know what it would be like Because millions of years...." That is his axiom. He borrows the power of science to make truth claims the conclusions that follow from that axiom. Another axiom one would be "there is no god" Therefore, what he says is based more off of an "allowable" set of semantically disambiguated propositions. Fundamentally, missing the point of being open to truth itself. Sorry for the rant

God could STILL exist. GOD'S WORD says HE created life, not HE put the right chemicals in the ocean to form the prebiotic soup, and then life formed itself and then evolution, so again, no the two can not coexist. And the reason I bring up cosmological creation is because if you dont have a universe, you have nothing else, and if a universe cant create itself, neither can life, nothing can create itself, and nothing can create nothing. Jim gave dave five challenges he failed at them all. All dave has to do is complete one of them and Jim says he will go away never to be heard from again. dave can't do so he gripes and groans, swearing at anyone that does not agree him. In the end he told dave why he is clueless in this area: 1) you need extreme conditions 178 on one side and -78 on the other is extreme (dave says this is not extreme) 2) you cannot create a a hydroxylated nor deaminated amino acid they are too volatile (dave skipped this part) 2) you need man made synthetic compounds that do not exist in nature (dave ignored this part) 4) even when you do create something it is so denatured with 2'5' that it would not be functional (dave says it does not matter, but it would cause dysfunctional RNA)

Tour hid his insults while Dave was open about his. Dave attacked the actions of Tour, in particular the misinformation on the current state of origin of life research. Meanwhile Tour sneakily attacks Farinas character by pointing to his music career (which he previously used clips from to mock Farina) and his surprise as to Dave still having a wife. Wasn't this supposed to be about the scientific career of the others? The closest thing to science Tour praises is him being able to make an educational website, specifying the website in particular. And that is the problem. Tour did that FIRST. Then Dave fired back. Similar to Daves first Video on Tour where he praises Tours work and stays respectful. Quotes: "He (James Tour) is not a con-man like others I debunk. (...) He is a respected chemist." "Some of his talking points (on the topic of the Origin of Life) are reasonable, while most are not." "Most do not understand what you do either, that does not mean it is not real. Go produce your impressive molecules." Daves tone only changed as Tour responded to him, insulting him every step of the way, flashing dunning krueger charts at Dave, misrepresenting what Dave said and what the papers he cited say. Dave corrected Tour. Tour then responded with rude dishonesty. Dave responded to rudeness with another correction. Then Tour responded by trying to intimidate researchers into not going on Daves channel, attacking the researchers which allready went with character assassination aluding to funding for research which he also received to a similar degree. Meaning: > Dave corrected tour with a respectfull tone. > Tour responded with rudeness. > Dave corrected Tour again. > Tour responded with rudeness and intimidation. Including a Character Assassination using clips from Daves music videos to dishonestly paint him as a madman. > Dave then corrected Tour again, this time responding to his rudeness in kind. "Audience shocked"? It sounded more like "Ow, feel the burn from Dave!". Dave answered the question almost as a rebuttal to Tours', while Tours more or less said "I admire all these things Dave has accomplished in spite of being stupid _about this subject._ ".

I mean, I admire the courage of the people who blatantly dismiss reality as well. Its a brave thing to do, especially when you work in scientific fields. Tour is one of the bravest scientists I know about, in that regard.

These are simply the words of scripture. But don't worry, perhaps Hell can be allegorical or a short term suffering. Which is what atheists want anyway. They don't want to live forever. If that interpretation is correct, then congratulations. The question isn't necessarily your interpretation of my delivery. The question is… Is it true? If it were true, would you bow your knee and worship the king of kings. I can typically predict the answer to that question.
