@@truthmatters7573 Do you see biologists going after Kent Hovin's anti-evolution baloney, or high-profile astrophysicists, planetary scientists, and cosmologists along the likes of like Neil deGrasse Tyson, Brian Greene, Michio Kaku, Brian Cox, or Lawrence Krauss openly going out there debating and debunking all the dumb flat-earth KZfaq channels out there? No. Why? Is it because they can't debunk them, or is it because those type of engagements are beneath them and not worth their time, since Kent and the flat earthers will only deny they were ever debunked and continue to push their junk science anyway? And why should anyone entertain Tour's 60 day challenges anyway on KZfaq? Why should they be obligated to comply with his deadline, and more importantly, what kind of reputable scientist does anything like that anyway? It comes across as grandstanding and pageantry to pander to his followers more than anything. If he's a scientist worth his salt, then he should get his criticisms submitted for peer-review in scientific journals, just as a proper scientist should. Robert Shapiro successfully did just that 20 years ago with his own critiques, so why not Tour? Is it because Shapiro had valid criticisms in respect to OOL research and Tour doesn't? Besides, Tour's first 3 challenges have been answered by the very research papers he claims don't do what they say they do. He just makes up post-hoc responses to suggest the papers aren't prebiotically irrelevant or makes up arbitrary complaints about things like 2/3/5 prime hydroxyl problems, sidechain reactions, etc. when research papers show that none of those complaints are a problem. His 4th challenge "specified information" is a fictional term made-up term by William Dembski from the Discovery Institute and is question-begging as it tries to smuggle a designer into the premises with the word "specified." The 5th challenge to assemble a cell is a strawman, as the focus of the OOL field is to research and map out possible prebiotic pathways life could have taken from organic and inorganic matter, not to put together a living cell from parts like one does with an erector set. Abiogenesis doesn't work that way, nor does evolution, so his question is a non-starter, and he knows it. He's a grifter that lies for Jesus just like the Discovery Institute that financially backs him. Answers in Genesis is right up there with, it as well. That's all there is to it.

Hear hear! Just one cell. How hard can it be if it happened by accident? And then apparently did not succumb to surrounding deadly forces, but obtained nourishment, and then divided. Again and again. And then by chance found it’s opposite sex mate, luckily found it attractive, and survived long enough to develop reproductive ability, and have a baby. A billion times, for a billion different creatures.
@grojunge2449
@grojunge2449 2 ай бұрын
It wasn’t an “accident”, it was an amalgamation of positively charged and negatively charged proteins and rna that led to a primitive atom with zero intervention. There were no deadly forces because the earth didn’t have a predator (because there wasn’t any other living organisms). However even if there were, we have single cell organisms right now that can survive thousands of degrees positive and hundreds negative. It isn’t a hard thing to grasp that the first organisms may have formed under either conditions. You will just cover your ears and say lalala to this information though.

@@sammyking9407 Cronin doesn't have to refute Tour, as Tour: 1) Makes no cogent points about OoL, to the point that he can't describe the state of the field properly. 2) Demands a level of proof that not only is not expected of any other field, but also isn't the topic of research for the things Cronin studies. Especially when he demands immediate explanations for cutting-edge reearch which is being studied now: it's like saying we're entirely clueless about all of particle physics because of dark matter. 3) Has established himself as a bad faith actor funded by an anti-science establishment. Man has had things explained to him countless times, but offhandedly dismisses things without justification and clearly doesn't make the effort to do work himself. Professionals like Cronin shouldn't delay their actual research to deal with quacks like this. Ultimately, demanding anyone refutes that which Tour says is like demanding a leading astrophysicist to engage with a flat-earther. It's an entirely fruitless endeavour.

This challenge of his is all a bunch of pageantry and grandstanding to pander to his scientifically unaware majority of followers, and with his history of unprofessionally mocking and misrepresenting some of the head researchers like Lee Cronin and Jack Szostak and their work, they now just chose not to engage with him anymore. If Tour really wants to have his critiques formally addressed, then as a scientist he should do it how scientists should: submit it to peer review. Another scientist called Robert Shapiro did just that on some aspects of origins of life research and did so successfully a number of years ago, so there's no reason for Tour not to do the same if his arguments have any validity.

True, but until they can it also means that 1. science doesn't know how to create life, and 2. how life was originally started - which will also not be proved even if a cell can be created under highly developed and regulated lab conditions. And that's Dr Tour's point, I think, any religious person gets sick of non- or anti-religious people waving off faith in God like a fairy tale, when scientists seem to have the same sort of faith in time and environment. You have to choose your faith, but religion is a valid choice, it cannot be excluded by science.

It's about a person who developed a psychological need in the belief of an invisible being with magical powers and sees how science is his main enemy, since it unveils a truth he personally cannot accept. It happened with demonic possessions, with the movement of the Earth in relation to the Sun, with the age of the Earth and the universe, with dinosaurs, with the origin of species, with the discovery of genetics and DNA, and in the last few decades with the origin of life.
