Thanks for sharing some of your home with us. Man do I miss basements. The acoustics in basements was always somehow better than above ground. I live in Florida now and no basement's here or you would be underwater. Nice gear and I am sure you enjoy it daily. Keep up the great work.

Thank you! I love my basement and oddly enough I believe you are correct… had a dedicated room in my last house (ranch no basement) and it never sounded as good as the basement no matter what I did to it!

@@BensAudioCave Probably why Capitol Records in Los Angeles had all their recording studios in the basements. Dead silent so nothing to interfere with the sound waves.

Ben, Nice space and gear if I may make a suggestion as my place was very much setup like yours. I read Get Better Sound by Jim Smith and the two most important things I learned were; Proper placement of main speakers and getting them away from the wall with correct toe-in. Next was treating the room to take care of 1st and 2nd reflections and using REW software to find frequency spikes. Use of sound foam and other sound deadening materials will transform your room. It sounds like a lot but its actually much easier and cheaper than you think.

There was some foam behind the speakers and this is like the 3rd iteration of placement… I do measure with REW and this is about the best I have done so far with a bit of listening for phase issues

Thanks for videos. Noticed that your schit modi dac is sitting next to the Onkyo AVR. Wanted to know if used the modi dac to bypass the dac in the AVR

Ive always wondered if 1/2kg weight on a powered plater is a good thing? Considering when they designed and made these turntables 40 years ago. What are your thought Ben ? This is coming from someone who has dj'd on them since the 80's :) and had little experience using them in a hifi configuration, until now only

Well, weights are generally hifi usage only... Also I replaced the OEM bearing with a timestep EVO
