Thank you for your video. I’ve had this cleaning set for several months and really like it. The two things I use most often are the velvety brush for dusting records off before I play them, and the stylus cleaner with the mascara wand brush.

I’ve been pretty happy with the Hudson gel pad. I use it in between each record I play for general cleaning. It seems to work better than the Onzow. I’m not sure if it will continue to work well over a long period of time and after multiple washes though. I use a dry stylus brush every now and then just to give a deeper cleaning. Great video. Lots of good info.

Thank you! I do the same… you should look into the UV Hudson cleaner as well… pretty much the same as the $170 ultrasonic stylus cleaner… there’s another vid here featuring it

I feel that carbon brushes in general are stiffer when they are new and their fibers become more and more flexible when you use them often. I remember when I bought the Audioquest brush, it felt just like your Hudson, the difference was really night and day compared to my old one from the 80’s (a Swiss brand, I think it was Huco or something like this, I can’t remember anymore). However, after a few weeks or months the new one started to feel about the same. I can’t compare them anymore, as the old one broke.
@BensAudioCave
@BensAudioCave 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly the old one was never this stiff day one but you are likely right about the break in/down… I’ll let everyone know long term but I don’t really use these all that much anymore… thanks for watching and commenting!!! 😀

Hey Ben! I notice that your cleaning table is a dismantled Technics SL-BD22. Was it ever your primary turntable? How did you like the P-mount cartridge and tonearm? I have a SL-BD10 as my primary right now with a Bliss hyperelliptical nude diamond. It sounds pretty good but I hope to upgrade in the future and us the BD10 as my cleaning table. Did you remove the belt? I really like your record cleaning station and hope to build one of my own. Thanks for another great video!!

It was and I used a Grado blue… it had too much noise and speed issues… there is a video about how to make it… I did remove the belt and arm

I'd suggest using some canned compressed air, blowing-dry the stylus from rear to front. It would eliminate any moisture.

I don’t use canned air it can be risky… I use this instead and works GREAT! amzn.to/3qhme6l

@@gmcmusic the force it comes out with… and also the propellant that can come out if turned improperly can leave residue at best and permanently damage internals at worst

@@BensAudioCave I respectfully disagree. You can control the force of the airstream by holding the can farther away (or closer, if need be). Besides, I have an air compressor, and I fill my cans with filtered compressed air. I use an Anvil air compressor. and a First Info refillable air can.

Hi Ben, I really like the result you got from the stylus liquid cleaner. However, there was that issue with leaving some areas wet. Dyou think using less liquid, being more careful and perhaps using another type of brush could help? Such as applying the liquid with the Boundless Audio stylus brush?

@@BensAudioCave Ahh, I think I have one of those. I watched your video on the Groovewasher prodcuts, but you didn't try their stylus cleaner in that video. Is that one a good alternative to the HudsonHifi one?

What if you were to dip the wet stylus into the magic eraser? Would that maybe help dry it off?
@BensAudioCave
@BensAudioCave 2 жыл бұрын
My advice is NEVER wet the magic eraser in any way... It tightens the fibers and can damage the stylus... Just don't want to see wreck your cart... Thanks for watching!

@@BensAudioCave The carbon fiber dry clean brush for records. Ive only tried a couple but I assume the case is pretty much true for them all. If the brushes are especially stiff, since carbon fiber is harder than the vinyl it does leave scratches, they are just harder to see if you do it tangential to the groove. As mentioned I have pictures of it, but I cant show because of youtubes prohibition on links.
