I know this is only your second Dimash reaction, but please don't get ensnared by the new (hater-based) "Dimash lipsyncs" ridiculousness. The fact of it is is that Dimash is the best singer in the history of the world and that's hard for some to accept. lol. He will blow your mind over and over and over. And sometimes he does a mic wave to show that he's singing live. Funny and awesome. Enjoy.

Dimash and the composer of this song, Igor Krutoy (at the piano), often use archetypes in their music. This epic piece evokes the journey of soul (wandering in ancient times, haunted by memories, and lost loves ) as it finds itself in an expanded state of awareness (new ground, chance to know who I am, begin again). Hesitantly at first, he even stumbles a bit, but with growing confidence, Dimash takes us on a journey and with that last refrain, he totally owns this new ground. The word ‘Kazakhstan’ translates to “the Land of the Wanderers”, so this song expresses the spirit of the ancient wanderers of the steppes as well as its present wanderer of the world, Dimash, sharing his incredible talent, his beautiful soul, and wonderful culture with us all. Like in many of his arrangements, Dimash incorporates sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully, but always with great respect. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and knows exactly what Dimash wants to accomplish. Together they create magic. Dimash insisted on the use of the kobyz, an instrument which was used in Kazakh shamanism to communicate with spirits, and it fits beautifully. The best Kobyz player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck, performs masterfully as always. If you want to experience Dimash hitting a D8, check out "Unforbettable Day" from the Gakku Concert.

just to add... don't forget he has a very powerful mixed voice/rock belt, plus several different 'ethnic'/melismatic singing styles... only to sound like warm chocolate in the next second.... also uses silences, breaths and breaks marvellously with impeccable rhythmic timing... and all of that with unmatched effortlessness ... which in itself is proof of his insane amount of training and hard work. And let's not forget the special beauty and clarity of his voice. And his ability to bring out every emotion within the song, and the listener. And. And. And... NO end in sight, still.

Dimash sometimes synchronizes his lips under the phonogram. This happens on TV programs where there is no possibility to sing live. Sometimes it happens at his solo concerts - 2-3 songs he synchronizes his lips, because it is impossible to sing extremely 3.5 hours (and so long his solo show lasts). But Dimash knows how to do all this live - both low and prohibitively high notes. There's a lot of evidence on KZfaq, where he sings without a microphone and music. Just for fun. Look more Dimash and you'll see everything😊

That's a Kobyz or Qobyz played by Olzhas Qurmanbek another Kazakh musician. 18 backup singers, plus Igor Krutoy on the piano and Olzhas on the Kobyz. Igor actually is a very famous producer/composer/singer in the classical world. He wrote the music for this composition. Sharon Vaughn, American poet wrote the lyrics. Dimash's main sound producer is in charge of the production aspect of most of Dimash's performances and his name Erlan Bekchurin. English definitely is not his native tongue. Although here he's speaking Russian as he's in Russia. He fluently speaks Kazakh and Russian and he's now has conversational English. And bits and pieces of Mandarin. Great reaction, I too look at his neck to see if he's singing and I would say 9 times out of 10 he is. And when he's not its not because he can't sing the piece, its more because its some grand televised event and he's forced to.

You can compare this performance with another version when he had throat soreness "Stranger Super Brothers". In super brothers version he still can hit and hold that impressive last note though not as consistent as in this version. There is nothing he can not do when he is in 100% but Dimash is just a human afterall, he still can do mistakes, he still needs rest, he still can get sick so it is humanly normal when he can not hit certain notes when he is sick. Anyhow there will always people who say he is lipsynching when he is in 100% just because how perfect his voice and technique are

He sings Italian and Mandarin clearly as well. One of his most mesmerizing performances in Ikanaide which he performed in Japanese in 2021 for the Tokyo Jazz Festival in studio due to covid restrictions. It is insanely beautiful. Also, there is El Amor En Ti, his first Spanish song he performed in a huge concert in his home country of Kazakhstan. In El Amor En Ti, you will see his Baritone, his Tenor, his Soprano and his pop all in one song. It is also done in a very creative way.

He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that. The kobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. He came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash when he first heard him. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship. Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtGAhpmlnZrVl2g.html Greetings and love from Germany👋⛴️❤️

Subscribed. Sometimes in concert he does a mic wave thing while singing so it is abundantly clear it's live. I saw him live - sitting front row center in a mid sized space with VERY dry and simple audio set up. It wasn't set up for a singer - it was a Khazakstan celebration event in Los Angeles and he was a last minute addition since he was in LA that day. He ran into the theatre thru the lobby maybe 10 minutes before the show started. There was a delightful small Khazak orchestra that played for a while - as I recall it looked like a a few mics on stands, side speakers, maybe some overhead mics? They had a mic on a stand for the speakers. Then Dimash came out and sang 2 songs to taped music. STUNNING. During one song someone in the audience called out something that made him laugh mid-phrase - taped music kept playing and clearly had no vocal track. I was maybe 10 feet away, and with no audio levels set and the mid size space, his biggest issue was his voice was so powerful he had to pull way back from the mic so he didn't overpower the music - which he probably couldn't have heard then because I don't think he had an ear piece to hear the music (seemed like just side speakers). Honestly he didn't need the mic LOL FOUND IT - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gtaZntlomLbNo3U.html

To me, it shouldn’t even matter if Dimash is lip syncing or not. He’s lip syncing this performance but it hasn’t stopped me from watching it legitimately a thousand times 😂😭 It’s like hearing a song on a radio, obviously they’ve been through a studio and post production but they’re pleasing to the ears! We also know that Dimash can pull off this song live as we’ve seen on Shine! Super Brothers. Not to mention his MANY concerts where he performs songs to perfection, live. I’m also sure that lip syncing is often forced by the venue/team behind the whole show, and not Dimash. Thank you so much for the reaction! I cant wait till the next Dimash reaction 😃 EDIT: I misspoke when I used the term “lip sync.” I don’t believe he’s just miming the performance. I definitely think he’s truly singing the song on stage, but that there is a track playing louder than he is live. There is a performance of Mademoiselle Hyde where I believe the same (Barclays 2019). You can hear the transition between the track and his actual voice at the end of the song, and he sure as heck is hitting the same note live as is on the track! Again, showing that Dimash is capable of singing the songs live, but might be forced to “lip sync” occasionally kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bb9idZyTsqnIYqc.htmlsi=rlIdZlmuMum90o4x (around 4:05 in the video)

Thanks for this nice explanation. There is no doubt that Dimash is the best of the best! But we should all be aware that, whether forced by the venue or not, he uses the technical blessings of playback to protect his voice quite often. In fact, in most of his single performances outside of his own concerts, he lip-syncs. Or at least the track we hear in the video is not what he sang live. And the easiest way to tell is not by watching his mouth or neck but by closing your eyes and focusing on the voice. If the singing in the given performance is completely identical to the singing in an earlier performance, at least the later performance must be lip-synced. Stranger is a good example. It is mostly lip-synced even at his concerts, but sometimes Dimash sings the first half live, while the second part (starting with the arabic singing) is playback. Same with Sinful Passion etc. In any case, it doesn't really matter because we know Dimash can sing and because a perfect studio track is what you get on iTunes & Co. anyway. But the playback topic must be brought up as long as Dears keep spreading the myth that Dimash always sings live. And it has nothing to do with hating but with being realistic.

In this film, the song of the alien Diva was made half with the voice of an opera singer, and half synthesized on a computer to show an alien voice so that human capabilities could not cover the range and jumps of this song, and so: Dimash sang it calmly, which proves that Dimash is an alien. When I heard Dimash sing, I thought that he was not human. When I heard what he said in an interview, I realized that Dimash is more of a human than all of us.

I enjoyed your reactions to Dimash. That live performance was the premiere of Stranger. I don’t understand why people think that Dimash is lip syncing. I was lucky enough to attend his concert and anyone who’s doubting his live performance should go see him and get their minds blown away. Dimash’s vocal power is incredible. He is also very respectful, humble and would not do that to his Dears. One of the many reasons why we love him.❤

THANKS for your reactions to Dimash!!!!……With beautiful chords from the “KOBYZ” (a two-string Kazakh instrument), Dimash give us a high level of mastery and perfection of his voice. He runs through 5 octaves (C2-F6) soft, DEEP, high, modulations and beautiful melismas to finish on a sustained note of madness in 19.52 seconds (F#5)…..Saludos desde México ! 👏🏻❤️🇲🇽🇰🇿

FYI: Dimash 2022-Vocal range: Growls (vocal fry): G0-G1 Vocal Fry: G#1 - D2 Chest voice: E2-C#5 Mixed voice: D5-C6 Head voice: C#6 - F#6 Whistle: E7-D8 Natural range: E2 - F#6 4.2 octaves *Full range: G0 - D8 7.7 octaves To put it in context: He sings lower than bass in Opera. The lowest note is usually C2....and higher longer sustained whistle note. Total Dimash range is G0-D8. By the way, a D8 is a couple of keys past the end of a piano. Who is Dimash? Beginning his singing career at age 5 (he's 28 now), Dimash was accepted into the most distinguished music academy in his country. His range extends from the top of the bass register to the highest notes of the coloratura soprano and whistle register. His first digital music album "ID" went platinum in only 37 seconds after release, and 3x platinum in only one hour, and 5x platinum in only one day on Chinese music platforms In December 2019, he made his US debut in New York at the Barclays Center. Dears (those he calls his fans) traveled from 68 different countries, 43 states & 2 US territories, and was sold out, as are the vast majority of his concerts. Now writing his Doctoral thesis for a PhD in Musicology/ Composing, received all his degrees with honors while simultaneously filling arenas and maintaining his performing career, a first! He has a bachelors degree in vocals, a master's degree in composition and is about to complete his PhD in musicology this year.

One more: Movie trailer for: Across Endless Dimensions kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b8uWfLp3zaqckWg.html The composer (Piergiuseppe Zaia) initially composed this as an orchestral piece for his film, "Creators: The Past". It's on the soundtrack of the film, and the title of the piece is "The Story of Jesus". When asked about the song, Zaia said that it's about the Garden of Gethsemane. After lyrics were written for the composition (under the title "Across Endless Dimensions"), the composer said that the song, for obvious reasons, should be sung by the most beautiful voice in the world. His co-producer started googling for the most beautiful voice in the world, and she quickly came up with Dimash's name. After watching some of Dimash's youtube videos and being mind-blown, she showed them to Zaia, who immediately contacted Dimash's team. Zaia created a demo recording for Dimash to hear the song. It required 3 different singers to make the demo, and even then the operatic soprano couldn't reach the highest notes at the end. Dimash agreed to go to Italy to record this track for the film's closing credits.

This was the premier of this song. The wonderful instrument is an old Kazakh instrument is called a Kobyz and Dimash, being a proud Kazakh, often features Kazakh instruments such as this one and the Dombra, which Dimash also plays. Dimash is definitly singing live, and I have seen him in concert and, believe me, he is phenomenal live! When he hits those very high notes you will see his, Adams Apple disappear and, a hollow there instead. Some people just find it hard to accept that someone can be this good and this perfect when singing live, but this is exactly why he is hailed as the best in the world! It was recognised at the, age of 5 in music school that he has perfect pitch and he truly does. He does not nerd to lipsync!! When he appeared on Singer in China, there was one performance he did which was incredible, as he'd woken that morning with a really bad throat and could hardly speak. He was taken to see a throat specialist who treated him with sprays and injections and that night he sang live a, Chinese song, and was phenomenal! He is, just incredible and some people want to discredit him for some strange reason 🤔. Take no notice. Thank you for another great reaction. Please watch Sinful Passion and Love is Like a Dream, they are both amazing! 😊🙏

Great reaction! 👍 Stranger is an epic song with touches of medieval, Gregorian and even a march together. I love Dimash’s different voice textures specially the Middle East vibes in those riffs and runs 🎤❤️🔝🎼👏👏 Igor Krutoy said “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way” The gentleman playing the Kobyz is master Olzhas Qurmanbeck, the best player in Kazakhstan 🎻🔝 The Kobyz is the first stringed instrument ever. Kobyz is an ancient tool of the Kazakh people. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. Kobyzy is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many people, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horse hair give a very thick, overtone-rich timbre. 🔝🔝

You'll always find trolls in the comments claiming anything about Dimash. Dimash's neck region is usually very relaxed. He has had vocal training since he was a little kid. Dimash has already sung with fans at airports, without a microphone on stage and much more. He is also a trained opera singer. In TV shows that don't allow live singing, Dimash is lip syncing like other singer. But he has a voice that sounds even better live than processed by the studio.

If you ever watch his 2017 performance of Queen's "Show Must Go On", from the Chinese singing show "The Singer", you can tell his English has improved tremendously. He works hard at all he does. If you do watch those Chinese performances, he does a killer duo performance of " Confessa" (an Italian song) + "The Diva Dance" ( the alien song from the movie "the fifth element").

Next time you can react to these videos of his signature songs with english subtitles, good image and sound: * Dimash Qudaibergen performed famous S.O.S song at Slavic Bazaar kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jZhpraimv7zFqKc.html * Dimash - Love is like a dream (Alla Pugacheva) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rrJ1hN2X1rXDnGQ.html At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again"

The instrument you asked about is a Kobyz, an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument that has two strings made of horsehair. I hope you will take the time to react to some early Dimash when appeared in The Singer 2017 competition. My favorites were, The Show Must Go On, Adagio, All By Myself, and Unforgettable Day. The last one he wrote himself when he was 19. He was 22 when he appeared on that show and was the youngest singer. Oops, by no means miss him performing Sonfessa/Diva Dance from the same show. Hey @Harmonic Chaos, I loved your reaction to Dimash's "Stranger". To answer your question near the start as to what instrument that is it's called a "Kobyz" its a Kazakh Folk instrument. The man playing it is in a lot of Dimash's videos, such as Samaltau, Stranger, Ikanaide and others. Please react to Dimash's Duet of "Drunken Concubine" which is a famous Chinese song, that he mixes in with his version of the fifth element alien song. :) Thanks, from South Australia.

First of all : THANK YOU for understanding us wanting to film with our phones ! :)) yes, that's an awesome shot being that close, and whoever makes it to one of his concerts wants a memory of it. Not all of his concerts have official recording, and many of his songs are performed differently each time, and many performances (and jokes, and sweet moments) would be lost and unknown to those who didn't manage to attend, if not for those who got a fancam. Second : yes, there are some performances that are done to a track, especially a premiere like this one, and there is a combination of reasons for it. Being a premiere, being in english, a language he gets a grip on then the grip slips away again, and some vocal techniques that sound better on a condenser mic for example, compared to a cardio mic, etc. People get used to the superhuman trove of vocal techniques that he possesses, and conflate it with the capability to cram it all into one performance, during a premiere, together with artistic body movement and everything else. And confuse his vision for the aesthetic of a musical piece with the posibility to do it all in one go. Or assume that his heavy training, that he mentioned several times, is a training for an alien capability to do everything live. His assiduous training serves to maintain access to the range that he has - 3 hours/day, and for heavy stuff, up to 10 h days of vocal work. To maintain the voice tuned. To maintain all the vocal techniques that he has acquired. Etc. He himself has said that even a week off would be a big risk, when people asked whether it's ok to take a month off. People also think of the times when he was younger and insisted or had to sing live while sick (once in competition, once for the sake of his fans, to give them his real voice and not fake it). And that is true, and in competition did a great job, even if it felt like swallowing glass. Or his first big concert where he sang the largest number of songs (~30), and did 99,9% live, for which he trained for over a month, so intensely that he lost a lot of weight and looked sick, worrying his family and his fans. But those times are, thankfully, in the past, he has learned to do a better job caring for himself. All the constant training he does is to maintain access to range and a myriad of techniques, to be able to paint stories with his voice. Not to be a circus act for us to brag about "I saw that alien dude who does crazy stuff live". That being said, he doesn't alter his voice with studio tools, he sings ~90% of his songs in concert live, and for the songs that he chooses to present only as physical and emotional performance on stage, but reliying on a track, he still sings into the microphone while expressing the song's story through body movement etc, even though what we hear is the original track. (Which is why you see his larynx work, his soft palate lift etc). He's not doing a half-a*sed job and tricking people that he is cooler than he is, he is just exercising commitment to his original vision for the piece, while not risking the shape with a slip in a foreign language, without offsetting one extreme of his range by dipping too long into the other extreme, and without having to stand more still and focused on vocal technique, and losing physical expression. He still has all the range, all the techniques, and he is the king of dynamics. Thank you for the reaction and review :) If you want an example of track v.s. live, check Stranger on Shine! Super Brothers show. You can see the difference between the airy beginning that he envisioned for this (that probably comes out better on a condenser mic standing still, instead of a cardio mic while walking on stage) and the more connected cord delivery that he chose when he did it live. And his english live had some slip-ups :)) It's an impressive performance though, all that included, but still he is keen on his original vision for the song and that's what we hear in concerts :) Other songs, he loves to improvise live, and we have whole libraries of slightly different live versions of them. He always does SOS live in concerts, for example. And we have dozens of live versions of SOS alone :) Thank you again for the video :)
