"There's a lot of stuff that measures well that doesn't sound good." So true. Personally I prefer stuff that sounds good and measures decent, but one does not guarantee the other.

I'm not challenging this axiom, but for a long time I heard something that everyone would nod and agree with. It went like this: I've heard plenty of equipment that sounds great but doesn't measure very well, but I've never heard anything that measures well and doesn't sound great. It seems like that used to be a mantra that no one disputed in the '90s and '00s.

@@AndyBHomeas measurements do not matter too me as long as it sounds amazing and it stirs my soul its for me and there the only pieces that stay. The sounds amazing part is only the smaller part of the equation as that can wear off quickly but when you feel it in your heart then you know its for you. This will not happen that often and when it does hold on to it for dear life and do not let go or it could be a huge mistake

@@terrywho22 this was in Michigan. I think I heard someone say that in a store around 1992 or so. Then I heard it again within a year, and then it seemed like it was something that became ubiquitous. Everyone was saying it. I never knew if it was true or not. I had no sense of whether or not things measured well because the only specs I knew about were wattage, frequency range, and distortion. I think i can hear minute changes in my own system based on things like changing an RCA cable, but I've never been able to discern significant differences in brands or subtle changes in equipment in a store or someone else's house. Indeed, even in my own house I've never been able to detect the difference between one CD player and another. My turntables all sound different. My speakers all sound different. My speakers cables all sound the same to me. Even most of my amps sound pretty much identical to me, and they all measure quite different from each other. I don't think I can hear a lot of the things that other people do in certain pieces of equipment. I generally have sub $3K components though and I'm very happy with pretty much all of it.

You can be sensitive; you can dispute a finding, however there is no need to get menacing. Tekton should have made arrangements to send Erin a different pair with instruction on how to properly set them up, and information on what they felt as improper with his measurement techniques. Instead, they went for a nastygram from a layer and played the litigation card. No one should be subjected to such harassment for relaying their experience and findings with a product. We need to support those willing to expose the truth about a product. Not chastise them for reporting their experience.

I think you're a good guy and have enjoyed some of your videos and of course love Canadian content by real Canadians particularly when unbiased and fact based! so thank you for that...... consider doing your research and due diligence on this matter, at the moment you appear seriously uneducated on this unfortunate drama...... the reviewer in question is in fact doing something different by way of his Klippel measurements, nobody on youtube does this, originality to say the least......he's also know as being the least subjective (to a fault) reviewer out there with high levels of integrity and disdain towards fake/paid reviews.....additionally at this very moment there is an extraordinarily foul scent in the air within much of this little audio community towards the company causing him drama....I suspect this will not end well for them

Erin's Audio Corner reviewed some Tektons. They fared reasonably well, but Tekton didn't like it and reacted negatively using the word litigate somewhere. I don't know where, but the public reaction to it has been almost universally negative - anti Tekton, with lots of people saying they'll never buy anything from Tekton now. Of course none of those people ever did or ever would have anyway, so who knows if it will make any difference?

@@AndyBHomeIt already has. Eric said so himself. Said he hasn't sold one pair of M Lores since ASR posted their negative review of them. Erin's video was actually positive. But he still cried about it. And made it ten times worse. Than he doubled down by posting a video. He brought it all in himself. And will likely continue to do. It's his nature. ✌️

@@amb3cog I just saw the video where Eric from Tekton says he hasn't sold a pair of his Lore model since the Audio Science Review measurements of them were posted. I want aware of ASR's role in the story. Ooooh this is not good for Tekton. I don't see ASR backing down on this. Now I don't know how Tekton's bigger speakers sound, but they always looked interesting. I'm just not a fan of painted cabinets. I really like real wood veneer. If Tekton made stained, oiled wood veneer I'd be very tempted to check them out, but after the current scandal I'm pretty sure there's no way I'll ever consider purchasing anything from them.

@@AndyBHome As someone who has sold High End audio for over a decade, I doubt the typical Tekton customer is a member of ASR or has read any of Amir's reviews. Stereophile regularly post reviews of loudspeakers that measure poorly, that have no issue with sales. Just look at their recent review of the B&W 801 D4. The FST Midrange us in that speaker line for decades has poor dispersion and it shows in the measurements, yet the B&W 800 series is the most sold High End loudspeaker line ever. So eric blaming ASR's review for poor M Lore sales is more than a bit disingenuous

Every reviewer"s last review is the latest and greatest. They should at least put out a list of their reviews in order of sound quality. Measurements are meaningless. I do however, believe in using quality parts and build quality. That doesn't absolutly relate to sound quality but it may help it.

Have two Associates degrees in electronics .I subscribe to sterephile and they publish testing results but I don't hardly pay attention to them. I've noticed a couple of times they have found equipment that was damaged or defective but most of the time I ignore the testing also some tube amps don't test well and wire and cables are notorious for not being able to test properly. The owner and chief engineer at Mapleshade said something about not knowing why some of his designs work but they do after years of setting up live sound and countless trial and error he would find designs the just work and some critics just hate his stuff without hearing it cause it's priced fairly and is radically different than alot of stuff out there. Main testing is your ears and how it sounds in your house and that's the bottom line

@@Prometheus1979I hear where You're coming from, but I don't think you can truly know anyone's motivation. The Shrink does his thing and he's not trimming it with a surgical steel blade. He just puts himself out there, warts and all, and he let's us judge him for the balance of his presentations. He's prolific. Yeah he might sound contradictory or even hypocritical at times, but I think he's sincere. He certainly doesn't have any financial motivation to put up a calculated facade. He's just being himself and hoping, allowing us to take it in and see if we can make sense of it all. I've known guys like him all of my life and I feel like I know where he's coming from. I don't even feel like I'm the same kind of person that he is, but I'm comfortable with who he is and I think I can get valuable, hard won experience from him just because he cares enough to lay it all bare. Could we find fault in some of his presentations, his attitude on any given day? Sure. You betcha. But everything he says is motivated by a truth that compels him to speak out. That's worth applauding, even if it doesn't always land on fertile soil.
