In order to add an aftermarket amplifier to a factory car audio system we need a way to convert the high-level (speaker level) signal to RCA low level (line level). Hey Mark, great video. Perfect information. I was thinking in my head - "what input should I take from the factory system - sub or rear speakers". But then you covered it off with the advice to take the sub input into the LC2i. In the past, I have used the rear speaker wires, and then had issues with fading from the head unit, if I faded towards the front, my sub was not getting all the volume it could use. So with my new system, I have a factory sub, so I will be using that input into the LC2i. One question for you. I have an MTX RFL 12" SVC, and the MTX 4001D amp. I am worried about the sub being under powered at 2 ohms. Do you think it will be ok? Great channel - keep up it up!

Thanks for the video. Unlike your example, I want to connect BOTH main and bass to 4 channels of amplification. So, according to the manual, the ONLY difference between the two is the bass output has a non-defeatable low pass filter and the output level can be controlled via the remote knob?

one thing u didnt mention the regular lc2i rolls off bass under 33hz the pro lets u get that low bass down to 20hz much better i am upgrading asap

Hi! I installed a JBL BassPro SL2 powered subwoofer on my 2016 Volkswagen e-Golf (non Fender audio) by tapping the front speaker outputs and connecting them directly to the sub’s high level input. I noticed the head unit output now clips at a much lower volume and it gets unusually hot. It is impossible to set the sub amp gain as the levels are all over the place and slight changes to the amp gain cause the sub to cut in and out. I verified the polarity of all connections on both ends and everything seems alright. I would assume tapping into the speaker outputs effectively lowers the impedance seen by the head unit onboard amp causing it to go crazy. Wondering if using an LC2i instead of the sub’s high level inputs would make any difference.

Great video! I am looking to get the pro version for the load resistor’s for my challenger. Does the lc7i have load resistors like this one? If not, what are my options as my factory system does not have a full frequency range signal? Every speaker in the car has a different signal (tweeters, mid base and factory subwoofer)

Thanks for the video, great stuff.I have a question about my current build. I have AudioControl LC7i Black 6-Channel Line Output Converter, 2 after market amps(4ch amp and 2 ch amp(for subs) connecting to a factory Ford radio(i have no choice of using an after-market radio). I'm running 125watt rms to the doors(4ch) so I will use after market speaker cable, not factory internal speaker wire. So with this, im thinking these speaker wires will connect from 4ch amp to the door speakers, which makes sense but my question is where does the 2 sub speaker wire connect from the LC7i to the harness(im using PAC LPHFD31 harness) as the harness will only have the 4 pairs, not 6 which I would need?

Got it I'm tapping into the wrong wires I'm using my rear left and right doors when I should just be going from my Infiniti QX50's sub. I thought any input would work obviously I need to rework the system and it seems much more streamlined coming from just the sub thank you! Your videos are super helpful man thank you

I respect and love audiocontrols equipment so far iv purchased the matrix, lci2 pro, micro epicenter. I recently swapped out the epicenter for the lc21 pro, but I been having trouble with getting it to transition without noticeable change. I get just over halfway on the volume and it kicks in with jump, like the bass kicks and a split second later it jumps up to add bass. what am I doing wrong ? I do love the quality ov sound it reproduces. I run 2 12s in a sealed box.

So is the sub crossover point customizable like the older Audiocontrol crossovers or just a generic starting point and to be more install specific and/or to have subsonic filter you’d need another processor after it?

Mark, If your side note about using the left speaker input on the lc2i if you only have one set of speaker wire tapping into a speaker, is correct which im going to check tomorrow morning. you are a god send, i was doing a install today on a friends car and got to the very end and could not figure out why my lc2i is not turning on even though i know it was connected properly and my speaker input is correct.

Yes, you are correct. You'll want to first find the max undistorted output from your source unit, then set your LC2i Pro, then set the gains/crossovers, etc. on your amplifier. Hope this helps, and happy holidays!

I have a premium stock amp that uses fiber optic back to the HU them the HU control is pushed out to speakers 12 , In using the audio control unit I am begging the question , is there any back feed and reverse polarity that will damage the OEM premium amp or cause the OEM amp to react abnormally with the addition of The LC2 on the system

Now, I recently found some info on using an Oscilloscope to SET proper GAINS. I'm going to add two 12-in Kicker competition R's to my 2022 Palisade calligraphy Edition. It has the Harman Kardon 630 watt system with 7.5 inch subwoofer in the rear. Going to buy the LCI 2 Pro to tap right into the existing wires in the luggage compartment. will the LCI 2 Pro handle the already crossed over signal. Do I need a DSP? I have very little punch and almost no real low end. The base roll off is horrible in that system as well.

May I recommend adding the subwoofer signal (mono) information to the website. I was looking for the info to know weather I wanted to pull the signal from my factory subwoofer in my 15' Chrysler 200s AWD. Wasn't sure if the single channel would be enough and not throw the "sounds" around; that being from left to right essentially. I did notice you guys had the mono hook up information but it was very limited. Thank you for specifying this information as I noticed while using the left and right rear speakers, the low notes seem limited vs my old vehicles which didnt have the factory sub. - I've had the exact same set up in nearly 6 different vehicles. Thank you for this AWESOME invention making it SO much easier to install a little extra bump without ripping my very expensive factory setup out. The Alpine setup my car comes with is very nice, but I always wanted a little more thump and bump from it. Thanks again AudioControl. Will be looking into your amps as soon as I can as well.

I have a 2013 Mazda CX5 with Bose. The signal from HU to stock amp is already low level. Is this LC2i still useful or can I just splice an RCA into the headunit output like I've seen some forum users do? Or should I keep factory amp connected and use high level out of there into LC2i? Ideally I want to ditch factory amp.

i purchased an LC2i pro at a garage sale for a few bucks. its new in the packages, doesnt appear to have ever been installed or used. however, it's missing the ACR-1 knob control. do i need the knob for this unit to function or can it be run without it? Also, can i pull signal from the rear speakers themselves for my sub, or will it require connection from the back of the stock head unit?

I have a BMW with the Harmon Kardon system quantum logic surround sounds excellent! (Includes 7 x 26mm metal-matrix dome tweeters in the dashboard, front, side and rear, 7 x 100mm ALumaprene midrange speakers in the dashboard, front, side and rear, 2 x 217mm woofers (central bass) below the front seats, Harman Kardon Logic 7® DSP amplifier in Class-D technology with a total output of 600 watts includes 16 speakers). The audio quality is excellent, but i feel the factory underseat woofers lack that deep nice bass i crave. Will this work for my application? Or should i go wiyh the lc7i or jl fix 86? This would certainly work for your application. The LC2i PRO will not only work for your vehicle, but it will also give you a nice clean, hot signal to send out to your aftermarket amplifier(s). There is likely no need for an LC7i in your application.

So I've just installed the Lc2i pro in my new system. I kept the stock head unit, I only added a sub and I spliced into the left rear speaker inputs. I cranked my volume to 75% ( my speakers are quiet even for stock btw). So, I start turning the bass output level, and I hit the max but with no maximized light. I assume the signal just doesn't output enough because the speakers are quiet even at max volume. I left it at max, and then moved on to the acubass, turned the threshold all the way up and never got either light to come on, when I turn the acubass level to max, still no light. I finally said I'll leave It all at max, now the acubass decides it wants to cut on whenever and my L7 q-class will BLAST for a few seconds and then the feature turns back off. To clarify, this is a head-unit problem correct? I want acubass to stay on constantly while music is playing even if I turn the acr-1 all the way down. I've even tried turning up the head unit bass level but then the speakers start to distort. Do I need to replace the head unit (I really don't want too)

Hi I just hooked up the lc2i and my mono amp and sub. The lc2i only turns on when I turn my volume up loud. Isn't it supposed to turn on just from the signal? Please help!!!

With this device or an LC7i which is what I have, how would you go about using the loc and feeding it to an epicenter? As you mentioned the subwoofer channel is only for the low end, the rear speakers are full range but limit the low end. How would you wire the loc so that the epicenter can receive a real full signal?

Both the LC7i and the LC2i Pro put out signals up to 1khz on the "bass" outputs, therefore they're perfect to feed the input side of an Epicenter. Feel free to just take the sub or CH3 output of your LC device and feed it to the input of an Epicenter. Should have some great results and be more fun to listen to!

Hello AudioControl Team! At the moment I’m using an JL Audio LoC-22 and would like to upgrade to the LC2i Pro. My issue is that the Bass Rolloff from my Audi MMI B&O System is very noticeable. My question would be if it is required to run a full range signal to the LC2i for Accubass to work or will it work with an Subwoofer-only output? Thanks in advance!

Great question! Our AccuBass technology does NOT require a full range signal be present for it to operate properly. The LC2i Pro would be a perfect match for your Audi. Let us know if you have any other questions!

@@AudioControlCar Thanks for your answer! Today my LC2i Pro came in and have another question. First I setup my gain using a test tone and the maximized light. When enabling Accubass the maximized light comes on again. There is no step in turning down the Level to compensate for this. How should I be proceeding? Should I turn down the level until the maximized light turns off to prevent distortion with Accubass active? Thanks in advance!

Depends on the amplifier make/model, but generally, we would recommend using the ACR-1.

I just ordered one of these. I believe my factory subwoofer on the rear deck only has one set of wires. If I tap into those, when I get to the Lc2i pro do I need to jumper ++ together and - - together? Also, can I used the same grounding bolt as my amplifier? Thank you!!!

Yes, you can ground it to the same spot as your amp, as long as it is a good, solid grounding point. As for signal, yes, a short jumper of speaker wire, to send signal to both inputs, will work just fine.

With the remote in and out can the lc2ipro turn on another amp with the remote in Not wired? Also with any of the audiocontrol multichannel amps can you use the remote to turn on other amps aswell or do they need to be wired separately? Thnx

Correct. No matter which turn on mode is used, the LC2i PRO (or any of our products for that matter) will put out a turn on signal to turn on other amps/gear. Same with our amplifiers.. if you use the GTO feature to turn on one of our amps, the remote turn on terminal becomes a remote output to turn on a second amplifier.

What gage of positive wire do I need coming from the LC2 and Is it a fused positive wire? Do I connect it right to the battery?

you can connect it to the amps power / ground with a 14 guage wire. the power line between the amp and the power in of the lc2i should be fused with a 1amp fuse. HEY i finally answered something about car audio. guru status

My factory DVC sub leads I'm tapping into has 4 wires. Should I hook up 1 side only or hook up both channels into the lc2i? DVC factory subwoofer: + purple/green - green/white & + green/purple - gray I assume each channel here is for each side of the factory DVC sub? I plan on removing the factory sub and replacing it with the aftermarket amp and sub going into the lc2i pro first. Thanks!

Only need to tap into one of the two sets of leads. You are correct, there are four wires, because your factory woofer was a dual voice coil design. Shouldn't matter which pair you pick, but use one set, and cap the other set off.

If my truck had 4 door speakers where do I tap into to get the signal? Do I tie into any of the 4 speakers? Do I loose that speaker or does it just piggy back on that existing speaker wire going to that speaker? Thanks.

You would generally tap into two of the 4 speakers present. Depending on what you'll be installing, you'd likely just grab signal from the front two or rear two speakers. You will not lose the speaker you tie into, you're just T'ing into the signal, not interrupting it. Hope that helps!

about sub channel, does it work the same way on LC2i? Only left side should be connected?

You can connect both left and right inputs. GTO signal sensing is done by the front left input channel, but we do recommend feeding input to both the left and right inputs on both the LC2i and the LC2i Pro.

I am currently confused on exactly how I should wire this with an 18 speaker Ford Unleashed B&O stereo system. I wired it from the subwoofer but it really seems to be all these crossovers working against each other. I received some advice to use a side speaker but the crossover cuts off some of the deep lows for that speaker. Kinda puzzled. Anyone on here have any insight?

Ok. To set up accubass. Does the bass on the HU need to be reset to 0 or does it need to be set first at good bass before the bass rolling out?

do you need to wire the sub power separate to the loc or can they both work off of the power in the loc? If not can I attach a wire to the 12v going into the loc and power the sub off it?

You can do that. But it is recommended to add a fuse between the amp and the loc

I have a huge question and need tremendous help please, I have an Infiniti m37s and I purchased the lc2i pro everything to my knowledge seems fine according to the way you did your connections, I unplugged the factory sub and used the harness to connect the lc2i but I’m getting feed back as if it’s the exhaust sound coming through the subs, it doesn’t increase as I Accelerate, I have the level turned all the way down the threshold turned down basically everything is turned down....should I worry? Please help @AudioControl, I’m getting good bass adjusting the amp settings.

Sounds like it could potentially be an ANC microphone issue. Many vehicles are equipped with ANC noise cancelling microphones. Google your vehicle "+ ANC mic disconnect" and see if your vehicle has one. If so, disconnect it and see if the noise goes away. If not, give our tech support team a call and they can try to walk you through the solution.

What they said. Infiniti's have ANC, which will be played through a aftermarket sub. Had to disconnect the mic on my Q50.

Does the LC2i Pro put off a lot of heat? Meaning, can I install it behind a carpeted plastic panel?

I have the lc2i and I have a subwoofer and amp running but I’m trying to install a second amp for my mids and high speakers I’m having trouble getting sound out of them just bass comes out ... I originally got signal from tapping into my factory subwoofer negative and positive terminals .. do I need to tap into the rear speakers instead ?? Please let me know my subwoofer works perfect with the aftermarket amp but having trouble installing my second amp for the mids and high speakers/tweeters

Correct. Since the signal you're currently tapped into only supplies the LC2i with bass, that's all you'll get out of it's outputs. Try using your rear speakers for signal instead, and see what you think of the sound. If after trying that, your bass isn't as great as it used to be, then I would recommend an upgrade to an LC6i, LC7i, or DQ-61, which will allow you to have separate inputs for the mids/highs and bass outputs.

@@AudioControlCar what would be the best amplifier 4 channel to power my speakers I have 2 8” mids 200rms each and 2 tweeters 200 rms each and 1 horn driver 250rms ? Please let me know most I want to spend is around $200 on Amazon or eBay thanks
