I really enjoy how Paul describes what he hears and feels, I can relate to the descriptions much better than some of the other “boyz”. But I have to make a small correction; the singer in the Rossini track is Sherrill Milnes, not Luciano Pavarotti on that recording. The role of the barber is a baritone role, not a tenor, although it is sometimes sung by aging tenors whose tone has darkened (looking at you Placido Domingo…). Pavarotti had such a range that he probably could have pulled it off (not sure that he ever recorded that part but he may have). If you have any doubt just switch to Verdi’s ‘la Donna e mobile “ on the same recording which is sung by Pavarotti. If you can’t tell them apart then ditch your system :-) Milnes by the way is a tremendous American Baritone, so the comments made in the review apply completely.

Thank you, kindly, for the well-done review. Bravo! By way of responding to your comparison, I recently listened to the new WATT/PUPPY and have owned the Sasha V for about 9 months. They are both excellent and, although, I can readily see forgoing the extra $13K, the Sasha V is the more expansive and richer sounding of the two with a grander sound stage with better bass. Using physical media of classical music (say, Mahler 3/Mehta/LAPhil/Decca), some of the great Basie big band recorings on Pablo, modern recordings of the Choir at Temple Square, etc. will demonstate the differences. I suspect that both would perform still better with some other choices in electronics. Very much enjoyed the clear, well-stated reviews by all three participants, however, I do continue to be a bit troubled by the use of streamed files of several highly processed recordings when numerous more natural reference recordings on physical media are much at hand. Take care, guys.

The Gryphon Diablo 333 and Wilson combo is very enticing. But I have serious doubts about Gryphon because I am living in very warm climate. Last thing I need is a room heater and having the AC unit continuously adding noise to the background.

One man’s opinion - I’d like to hear more about the equipment and less about the music. Thanks for considering.
@mark9118
@mark9118 4 күн бұрын
KZfaq reviewers have learned that most of their viewers cannot afford the equipment they discuss (or aren't going to buy them for some other reason), but they can afford the music, so mentioning the music actually increases viewership. Those of us who subscribe to a streaming service can get the music for free.
@BaileyWiggebutt

Most reviewers focus too much on the equipment. It’s really how the music interacts with the equipment. There’s plenty of specifications online but not enough actual listening experience with “musical” explanations.

Cabinet volume is somehow similar to cylinder capacity … more is mostly better (in regards of authority & life like presentation). More than this I don’t wanna say as I haven’t heard these two mentioned Wilson’s in person; but own a MAXX myself.

Which speakers are harder to drive, magnepan or Wilson audio?
@adrianlow2114
@adrianlow2114 2 күн бұрын
Both Wilson models go lower in impedance, so they need more current. However Magnepan is generally less sensitive, and with a dipole design, they don't sound as "loud" or authoritative, so many clients will sometimes turn up the volume. Basically, buy the best power amp you can

Imo i heard them at a store last year and was dissapointed in how they sound, watt puppy had like no bass at all and sounded "non-cohesive" and had no bod at all, extremely poor sound imo. Sasha V was noticeably better, but still wasnt amazing.... I've def heard way better products at even the $1000 range. Wilson to me really does just ride on a name more so than anything else. If I was spending the money that they're going for I just wouldnt buy them as an option. Theres other products in the hyper premium segment from so many other brands like Magico or YG Acoustics or anyone really that were so much better sounding.

@Adrian and Paul, you two are absolutely brutal. I am, frankly, quite stumped. And won't be able to redeem myself ever. Paul's watch, is impossible to see, given its shape and a plain, non contrast-y dial. The only tiny glimpse I was able to have was on the unique look of the buckle. But that does not inspire any confidence whatsoever. If i were to take a random stab at it, I would guess either a Vacheron Constantin, or a Zenith. Confidence level on this is 10%. Adrian, your watch is also super hard to see. Looks relatively thin. If I have to venture a guess, I would say maybe a Patek Philippe Calatrava? or a vintage Omega. Confidence level on this is 15%. Well done with the watches, gents. And as per usual, Lewis has an apple watch on, and Mike is not wearing a watch. ;)

Hah! We finally stumped you lol. Well Paul did. He was wearing a Grand Seiko with some special wave dial. I cant remember which. But you are right once again about mine! I wore the PP Calatrava with white porcelain dial and hobnial bezel, once of my absolute favs. You are Absolutely brilliant!
@woody168

@@adrianlow2114 Well done! :) I should've known better! That will teach me on checking out GS more. I think the wavy dial was inspired by the brand on some mountain possibly, something I may have read up on, quite some time ago. But if there's any brand that can compete with the best on movement finishing, and dial intricacies, Grand Seiko is certainly it. So great job on the brands GS, and PP, Paul and Adrian!

I must be only person on the planet who doesn’t like Wilson audio. I did hear this speakers and it was underwhelming ( to me) . Wilson looks is not everyone taste either (50k rolling disposable bins on wheels) and sound was just ok… Maybe I got used to hyper detail of Focal Sopra speakers or something not sure . Wilson speakers in general tend to be man-cave equipment and not allowed in a living room by women. However the Watt Puppy might pass the test, being relatively diminutive.
