In this video, I'm releasing additional footage from the installation of killer audiophile gear at my friend Doug's house. It's not just the gear that makes it one of the biggest and most impressive audiophile setups I've ever seen. The expertise, measurement equipment and other tools utilized to optimize results were second to none.
This video will showcase many other suggestions, tips and ways to interpret measurements that many audiophiles never consider.
The setup includes a Dohmann Helix turntable, Bacch-SP speakers, and Swarm subwoofers. In this amazing install, we have a combination of gear, expertise and measurements that most audiophiles would kill for. We're talking about the Dohmann Helix turntable, Bacch-SP subwoofers and Swarm subwoofers, all wired together by expert installers.
The result is nothing short of spectacular...both audibly and measureable...especially in the bass. It's proof that good things come to those who not only buy great gear, but hire the RIGHT people and USE the right measurement tools to achieve optimal performance. If you're in the market for a top-of-the-line audio setup, then you need to check out this amazing install.
Feel free to contact me if you ever want something similar done in your room.

The price was right, so I picked up a used Thorens turntable. I sat and looked at it for SEVEN YEARS! About 6 months ago a buddy came over and was drooling. ''Free to a good home!'', I blurted out. And after watching this video I am absolutely certain I made the right decision. 🤪

Excellent video and explanations. My only "objection", as a minimalist, is that it may prove much easier to just accept two hard truths and go with them: 1) You can only have ONE best listening position in this hobby. It's like a racing motorbike, or a formula1 car, if you like. Anything else is a compromise. 2) the room is always your enemy, with the possible exception of low frequency enhancement (a tricky "friend", even in this case). Once you accept these truths, you can set up your "listening triangle" more centrally in your (medium to big sized) room, with a strict, close-up nearfield arrangement and all boundary reflections distant and delayed in time, well beyond the critical 5msec limit. Of course you still may have to employ some treatment here and there, but this set up is more natural and far less dsp demanding, if at all. The major problem is that the usual genre of the high end loudspeaker, usually has an imperfect sound at a true, close, nearfield listening.

I own a Wally Skater. This video was excellent. I've watched every video of yours showing JR at shows but I learned even more things from this video. I love this type of video. Keep up the good work. Congratulations to Doug.

Thanks...I decided to make a logo that's more clear and update my intro vids that were several years old. It's all DIY so let me know what you think. I can do anything to change it from different colors, fonts, designs, etc.

Great video Jason! .I’ve used the Riverstone stylus pressure gauge for years now and it’s the best I’ve used and I’ve had the $200+ ones and they don’t get it exactly right like the Riverstone does.

This is cool. Whole video was great, but as usual with your videos, there were little thing that jumped out to me. This time it was the tube-modded Oppo HA-1. Never seen that done before, very interesting.

Yeah .. You don't see that everyday, but it was more common back when Oppo was around. I think Dan Wright made a living doing some of these mods while launching his own line of gear.

So where’d you end up on frequency response in the end? The graph shown has got over 20db of range to it… aka prettttttty badddd

I think I mentioned it in the video and so did JR, but he's flat (+/- 3 DB ) down to 17hz. The very high frequencies (over 10khz) are artificially flat due to the extra reverb. He's going to get a ceiling cloud treatment to bring down the RT30 time and then re-measure.

All this spiel is to make the buyer feel better about spending all that dough. 😂😂.

You either are jealous or can't discern what you watch real well. He had high dollar gear BEFORE these additions. It wasn't a video about the gear as much as setup. You should focus on the same things regardless of how much you can afford. I know people that have spent much more as well as less. The difference isn't as much the gear as it is the setup. The exact same message of the video applies, but you missed that because you were triggered by the gear prices. I'm willing to bet he spent less of his net worth on audio gear than most do with cheaper gear... So it's pretty clear who REALLY needs to feel better.

You seem to like making the same primitive comment in videos with JR. I leave them because it's pretty funny that of everything in the video, you found that was what triggered you to run to your keyboard and comment. It's a good example for all audiophiles to see how ridiculous people will make themselves look.

That's fine...I just found it strange there was no joking emoji and you had posted the same thing before... Sometimes the nature of social media and all the trolls make it difficult for jokes to translate with just text.
