Because there are only two ways to stop them: 1) Political change, which requires action by: the majority of the population; politicians with spine; and police, judges, and agencies willing to actually enforce the law rather than sweep cop crimes under the rug. 2) Armed revolution. But it takes a lot before a significant percentage of the population is willing to basically overthrow the system. So for now we suffer until there is sufficient pressure for one of those two methods to happen.

I have some bad news for you, It never did, just as Lysander Spooner warned. The ink wasn't dry and it was being violated and power was being usurped by everyone at every opportunity for themselves. We live in a grand illusion that it was somehow better and not nearly as corrupt and we revere that and long for something that never really existed, when frankly we already such corruption in spades. The only difference now, is that there is a magnifying glass on all of this stuff, where it was lost in the echo's of history before to future generations, and confined to musty books and documents that almost no one bothers to read. Do some research into the real political history of this country. Not the sanitized approved texts that they give to grade school and high school kids, but the real history. Be warned though, once you see it, you can't unsee it and all of your illusions will be forever destroyed. It's just violence, drunken violence, double dealings, power plays, usurpation of power, collusion, lies, espionage, war, treason, theft and naked aggression. Our country was irreparably unconstitutional by the time that Washington/Adams federalists and the Jeffersonians wanted to kill each other. The American people (if there even is such a thing) have never been more than at best helpless bystanders looking on to this corruption or at worst, unwitting dupes in this game. The only thing remarkable about this country in the course of human events, is the unmitigated amount of absolute BS that we have woven for ourselves in our story and myths. In that, we are absolutely Herculean. We pretend to be a beacon on a hill, when we are as much of a sewer, if not more so, that any other country, including all the ones we classify as despotic. This is an asylum, ran by the inmates.

@sslerlin- has BECOME???? - it's been that way for over a hundred years ' since the wild west starting gun ordinance's in towns where there was little to no crime - by taking peoples guns it created an atmosphere of dependency/an also loose play because hardly anybody was armed guaranteeing the need for a police presence - when before that people VERY SUCCESSFULLY POLICED THEMSELVES because no one wanted to get shot back then - (death sentence bad medical!!). So by playing this game the earp brothers, wild bill hickok etc.. ensured their own bull shit jobs of taxing people for what people already provided by them selfs - HENCE THE 2ND AMENDMENT!!! again - every body was afraid to start committing crimes ' even your grandmother was prob armed, the so called police took that all away while also creating opportunistic cracks for crime to thrive! so policing hasn't become anything since this time period except - WORSE - MUCH WORSE but it all started a long time ago.

Happened to my wife. The DMV lost a license plate she turned in. They suspended her license. She still got a ticket for driving on a suspended license and had to carry SR22 insurance for 5 years even though they acknowledged that it was their mistake. Essentially, she faced the same punishments of a DUI conviction for a government error.

Texas police officer Martin said that the reason he arrested the woman and her daughters was because all the commotion going on got him confused. The video that was released that showed him interviewing the WHITE MAN who had CHOKED a 7 year old boy showed the officer speaking to the criminal like he was talking to a judge or the mayor. That has been deleted allegedly. In the end the officer received 10 days of with pay (allegedly) and all charges were dropped on the woman and her 2 kids after a year or 2 and having to deal with CPS or what ever child protection agency Texas uses allegedly. The woman filed a lawsuit which she died around the same time or after winning the suit of around a $100k before attorneys fees meaning she would receive about $65 to $70k and that was for all 3 of them not to mention the mental damage her other children faced especially the 7 year old son who threw RAISIN F-ING RAISINS IN SOMEONES YARD NOT TRASH IT WAS RAISINS

Police will ultimately continue doing all these things until they are held responsible and accountable. As a matter of record “I” have suggested that “Taxpayers should not be punished and made to pay for this”… And, if police are required to carry their own malpractice type of insurance, then ultimately they will be eliminated from service when they are unable to provide the necessary insurance for employment. And, as a matter of principle, police departments may arrange an initial policy for each employee, which they would then have to maintain just as we might maintain our auto insurance policy or other policies required for the purpose. Those who do not mess up, would have no problem with renewing their policies regularly, and those who do, would either pay more for their insurance, or find themselves in a category that would make them both “uninsurable”, and unable to continue being a burden to the department or community. I favor having them carry this insurance policy… Though it may not be popular among the police and their supporters…

The officer was unprofessional, biased, and abusive. Moreover, he was consistently condescending and sarcastic throughout the encounter. How he remains unpunished and employed, I do not know. Notwithstanding the city’s settlement, which should’ve been substantially more, the family never got justice. Receiving money is not the same as receiving justice. Because of Qualified Immunity and the penchant for the PD’s Pavolian tendency to cover up misconduct, justice was not served in this instance. What happens is emblematic of the problem between the police and the public, especially communities of color and the poor. I’m hard-pressed to believe the officer would have taken the same approach on call in a predominately white and middle-class-or upper-middle-class neighborhood. Besides, things like this are rarely corrected because, more often than not, “police do not police the police.” They cover up, deny, and offer slaps on the wrist to appease the public. That cop would never have behaved like that in a white, upper-middle-class neighborhood.

I feel like I’m 11 years old again and not allowed to see the scary part of a movie. If you’re too damn sensitive and get “triggered” from seeing such footage or hearing bad words, DON’T WATCH! Wow I never seen a cop like the 2nd incident. The first one was bad, it started off right and the guy was evidently in the wrong but spreading it to the others and arresting people for recording is incredibly suspicious. The 2nd guy needs to be fired, the fact that the government backed and cleared what he did shows why there is such an incredibly lack of faith in law encorcement. Arresting the mother made NO sense, but ok let's say he arrested her, and maybe arrested the 2nd girl for getting in his way ok. But arresting the 3rd girl and saying her phone was 'evidence' is an extreme case of abuse of power because these 'minor' abuses keep being used by cops to illegally harass, haggle and arrest people. It's like the small crack of a massive damn-- the problems start small but can unleash huge problems. Im not against all cops but man this stuff is kinda ugly.

That lady had a legit complaint he didn’t bother even writing her name down when he got there he went directly to insulting her by asking if she teaches her kids. The only question he should had asked is if there was a witness and definitely had a pencil and paper taking notes. Cops don’t like to be interrupted but don’t mind interrupting with an insult.

Not a fan of police, but to be fair, the video is misleading on the first interaction. The vehicle can be searched and towed since the driver was being arrested for driving with a suspended license. Inventory searches have been deemed permissible by the SCOTUS. What’s more is that nearly everyone who gets caught driving with a suspended license says the same thing: “my license isn’t suspended.”
