Not necessarily have you ever watched a calm person trying to calm someone down on a power trip. At times it can cause it to escalate further. Not really. I would be surprised if he didn't talk to him about it in private. He wouldn't do it in front of someone. In those situations you would take them to the side and talk to them in private ... which goes for nearly all jobs. Unless they were literally playing good cop bad cop and then maybe he would chime in. He didn't seem conflicted at all. He knew the older cop was over the top. The cop escalated things but nearly every single person in the videos on the channel are also actively escalating things be it passive aggressively. I seen one video before a guy doing this sort of thing making sudden movements intentionally when the cop had his gun out. The cop should deescalate things but the other person shouldn't be escalating things either.

The main issue is that while "quotas" have been ruled to be illegal, tracking "citizen interactions" and the tickets/arrests associated to them has become part of their review & promotion process. I had a somewhat similar incident happen to me in Phoenix, AZ as well. I was out Geocaching in a neighborhood and neighbors called the cops on me. The police that showed up were very professional and the interchange went by pretty smoothly. I think the big thing was that they had no idea what Geocaching was. They kept getting caught up on the "cache" part of it, thinking that I was saying "cash" and was looking around for money that someone had dropped off. Once I finally got them to understand that it's a harmless, even family friendly, activity they were cool about it. They did indeed first ask what I was doing, asked to see my ID, etc. Again, it was done very professionally and cordially, so a lot different than this guy's incident.

sometimes. unfortunately, since its the audit, it often lacks any common sense and wants cops to basically be top level lawyers to know every lawsuit ever and even when the suspect is major dick creating unnecessary conflict he gets applauded for "excercising his rights" :D in this case tho the cops were cunts

This is the argument I’ve been making when people say it’s just a few bad apples that spoil the bunch. No absolutely incorrect, these “good” cops are guilty because they choose to stand by silently and allow the bad ones to continue this behavior.

I imagine the actions and attitude of the unprofessional cop, had more to do with his "belief", without any investigation, that the man was an auditor! He showed his complete distain for anyone who would dare exercise the rights the officer swore an oath to uphold! I'm so happy to hear he filed a complaint. It's VERY IMPORTANT to get a record of misconduct and unprofessional behavior, with threats of retaliation, because he BELIEVED he was something he wasn't! When citizens, who feel they have had a bad interaction with an officer, and it's on video or body cam, it's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to file an official complaint, so when it comes time for promotions, a discipline record could prevent a bad cop from being promoted to a leadership role, to spread their hate and unprofessional behavior.
