As a french person myself i can absolutely confirm that her french is pure perfection. Her accent is very very subtle and it amazes me how talented this absolute legend of a Queen was. My dear god..

@SayaBeast4 жыл бұрын
@@luzid4924 This is the full interview, starting from when Audrey starts talking, translated from French into English Audrey: "Naturally, this evening, the marvelous gala said we'd have it for our great film and for the Red Cross." Interviewer: "Permit me to say your French is really good." (The way he says is more like "let me just say..." Audrey: "That's very nice, thank you" (In French, saying that's very nice to a compliment shows respect and humility) Interviewer: "Do you think it's because you were born in Brussels?" (French speaking place in Belgium) Audrey: " I hope that's the reason, yes" Interviewer: "Tell us, did you start in theatre before doing cinema?" Audrey: "Yes, in the beginning. I started as a ballet dancer. I studied ballet a few years. I danced in Ireland and then one day, I got the chance to do two, three days in the studio for a film, then after that four, five days and then it's a small role and then a role that's more big and then suddenly, in '52, I tried out for 'Roman Holiday' by William Wyler [I can't hear what she says, unfortunately] as you know. And at the same time, the same year, I played 'Gigi' on Broadway in New York."

Wtf does her accent have to do with how good she is at speaking the language
@SayaBeast4 жыл бұрын
@@hueyfreeman1983 Because the her accent (Which seems to be a mix of British, Old American and Belgian) would make her sound less French, or more precisely Parisian. What the original commenter is saying is that her accent is not very noticeable which makes her sound more French.

I'm not French, but I love to listen to people talking in French because it feels so chill and poetic that I could be listening to it for hours, and I totally can't alert a difference between her accent and a native French accent. How sweet and powerful she sounds, oh my.. :)
@oliviersavard86762 жыл бұрын
I'm not French but French's my first language, and I can see a subtle difference in her accent: enough that if I didn't know her, I'd wonder what's her first language, but not enough to be able to know where her accent would be coming from. It's very small and only on a few words, and honestly she sounds like someone who's lived in France for decades.
