Gotta hand it to ya for configuring your log splitter as a metal bender.

If you need to dig delicate holes, for example unsure if a pipe or wire is in the ground. Something I have used in the past that works rather fast and well is shop vac, pvc pipe, and water if needed. Example when I dug the hole for my flag pole I made from PVC and Fence Pipe, I put the bottom section of PVC that I ran 5 ft into the ground into the ground, using the shop vac at the other end, I just lifted and basically stabbed the pvc into the hole in the ground, while the vac sucked the dirt and stuff out as it broke up... It only took a few minutes to vacuum out the dirt and slide that pvc pipe into the ground secured, then I assembled the rest of the flag pole after getting it 5ft deep in the ground.

You have some nice soil there. Here in North Georgia you can't auger a round hole with a skidsteer auger. The mean rock is about baseball size and I routinely find them the size of a chihuahua. Love the build, good stuff

Lol I love that you used a log splitter to bend it. Genius!

Great idea for gumbo. At first glance, I didn't think it would work. Looks like it works great.

Silly went to Home Depot and rented an 2 stroke auger, got home fire that puppy up, got down to about 6-8 inches, and got tossed on my collective butt! I am originally from San Diego, and here in North Texas it's all clay base. I hit that clay, and good night got the door slammed on me. After I had a good laugh, I got up, and saw I had pretzeled the Auger shaft and blade. So now my used auger sits proudly in the garage!!

I’m thinking about replacing my 6ft fence with an 8ft so I will have to pull and depend 10 holes. I’m in North Texas(Dallas) too. How’d you end up making your holes?

You exemplify fit, form and function. And you make it look so easy! 👍

That looks like it works better and easier than the standard two-handle post hole digger.

2 handle post hole digger is the worst tool on the planet. AMS soil auger, earth samplers, are infinitely more efficient and consistent. Post hole diggers also get worse the further you go down, defeating itself. Just terrible idiot design, not sure how they even exist.

Very useful and clever. Would love to see one as an Archimedes' screw.

Made one of those from an oldsawblade a pipe and a nut and put it on the grout mixer. Best invested 30 minutes in my life.

Just so ya know...in case you were wondering... If you grew up on a farm? This was called, Tuesday morning before doing your chores.😉 Good job bud.

Needs a bigger throat to handle stones. But it looks great for sandy soil.

I'd like to see how to make the metal bending tool. Put a long screw on it and you have a 100% mechanical seasoned (dead from disease) cottonwood log splitter -no money spent on fuel operating it!

That’s a great idea! Isn’t it a forstner style instead of an auger though?

Hey 👋 Are you going to do the giant mosquito trapper?!?!?!?! 😁

I’d add a coupling so you can extend it using black pipe.

Based on using a hand twisted post hole digger when I was a kid, I don't think you really need the lag bolt in the center.

Toooooooo much effort. I had an 8 acre field to fence. Competely bare. Had dirt like yours. Irrigation was gonna be a thing. Corner to well head was 80 ish yards. So a long term investment of at least 200 ft of hose was in the offing. Plus one more 100 ft piece. This lasz piece was my post hole digger and a future use in plan. Post hole on 10ft centers. Take that last piece of hose and, ALL THROUGH THE one SAME side, drill a 1/8" hole every ten feet. Best to roll out the hose on a hot sunny day for this and let in unkink/wind/stress. You want all these holes pointing the same way, down. Make sure you drill these holes on the FAR end. Just sayin... Cap the far end, hook er up, lay er out, pin er down, water on slow. Do it at dusk and by subrise you should have holes in row! 22 years later the same posts are still there.
