I love the humbling zoom out at the end. Here’s one little guy trying his best for a long time to get a small part of a big mountain and there’s so much more.

"Is there anything you'd like to say to your sponsors?" "Yea, can I 'ave some money?" Just about choked on a muffin during that bit. Bloody fantastic video. I want to see more from this climber and from the photographer.

+ClimbTasmania Probably my favorite first ascent short of all time. I've seen it 5+ times now, and it never gets old. That orange streaked rock draws me in every time, and Augmentium is now on my long list of routes to do!

Absolutely! The interview, filming, editing and music are all excellent. And of course the part of the story about the dream is perfect.

I would SO love to see people wearing helmets. I know it looks geeky, especially on steep routes that risk mostly clear-air falls, but still. They weigh so little these days! Great video! The final drone shots are amazing! I climbed that hard once....then I woke up.

Peter Lewis you can't fit Dreds that big into a helmet…. plus…if you fall the dred locks pad your head just like a helmet….
@distilledmedia92848 жыл бұрын
+Peter Lewis Hey yeah if you want to see people climbing with a helmet, then go rock climbing with a helmet and look in a mirror. More people die in one day in New York by getting hit by cars while walking to work then all the climbers in the world combined in a year, helmet or not.
@Musicpins7 жыл бұрын
I mostly don't use a helmet on single pitch routes. (I have done on a few trad ones) I have long hair too, but Peter If you like wearing helmets at any crag, I dont blame you. Props to you for staying safe :)
@69tthompson6 жыл бұрын
Distilled Media pretty dumb justification. That’s like saying you won’t wear a seatbelt because people die in cars everyday...
@thomaspeake96776 жыл бұрын
Peter, usually I would agree with you, the main reason I wear a helmet is rockfall so I wear one when I belay or doing a route where rockfall is likely from above. However, given the risks of this already scary route regarding groundfalls onto ledges or protection coming out the risk of serious injury from rockfall alone decreases significantly as a percentage. If you're willing to accept risk with trad due to falls on badly placed gear (not saying gear isn't placed well here) you're probably also willing to risk an unlikely rock on the head.

Squib, this is Seth. 30 Americans and myself are enroute to your location. Our mission is simple: scream all over every climb ( including phrases such as, "sick bro!") and tick mark every known hold. Also you should come with me to China and do some crag exploring with me. Awesome video, shoot me a message or email

How many people do you need to send a wall? Well, five. One climber, one belayer and three people who operate the camera drones.
@andycopland31796 жыл бұрын
Where did "send it" come from in climbing? I've shared beautiful places like Moab, Utah with climbers but I'm ultimately a BASE jumper. Have the sports been in such proximity that the language has crossed over? Or have all climbers realised the fun way down and picked up BASE jumping? :)
@chriswallace38886 жыл бұрын
i thought it came from mountaineering. To "ascend" the mountain is the goal, or to "send", therefore climbing takes it on board as to ascend the route, or send it.

That first nut placement made just before the fall after the video starts had me screaming "Zipper". Even as he just started to climb above it the rope was already beginning to pull the wire up, Why Why Why did he not put at least a 12" runner to keep that from happening. I just don't understand, that is the trademark of a wise trad climber. Solid placement with excellent rope freedom, especially when the route begins to traverse around, Rope drag becomes a huge burden and danger. "Runners" that's all I am saying. Great video though. Thanks for sharing. Yes helmets too as mentioned by another. I am guilty as charged however. When I was climbing in the 80's and 90's I only used my helmet when Ice climbing. In hind sight I was lucky and would recommend one for all Trad climbing. Long falls can and do happen.
@aeropilot44195 жыл бұрын
mike swift agree about the runners ... but maybe it is his sport climbing experience that clouds his judgement ... excellent send nonetheless.

"if i had boobs i'd be sponsored" come on now... no, if you climbed 9b+ you'd be sponsored. Sick climb, but no need to bring gender into it. No one wants to see Ondra's boobs, but they do want to see him throw down 9c.
