All I can say is a big WOW!! Had no idea you had such a big garden area. Inside and outside the garden fence. And also you never told us your thumb is so GREEN! Great drone shots too! This video is so good and the entire area is fantastic and beautiful! I'm going to watch again, and maybe even again and again! Great job! (Oh, and didn't see a weed growing either)

Hi, I live in Southern California zone 9a, but getting ready to move to Northern California zone7a-8a on the coast within the year. I saw your channel for the first time this morning and was in awe at how well you described everything. I’m just beginning my journey with gardening again after many years away from vegetable gardening. My spring garden was a severe fail, even my potatoes were scrawny. Everything was grown in grow bags. I will not give up, only learn more, try harder and watch more KZfaq. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

KZfaq recommended this video. I’m so glad I found your channel. I just subscribed and am looking forward to part 2. I’m in zone 10 but my garden is facing north and gets maximum 5-6 hours of sun. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. I learned so much. Keep up the great work. I loved the garden map when you moved through your plot and the “You Are Here” really helped me to see how to plan my garden beds better with cover crops and companion plants for next season. Thank you!

A note about pests. I tried succession planting beans many years ago. My downfall was planting the second crop in the same bed as the first. I had an explosion of bean beetles in the first planting. When I pulled the that planting, I watched in horror as the beetles walked casually to the newly uncovered other half of the bed with the tender new bean plants! Never did that again!

I live in Northern Ohio and caught a Tomato worm on my Jalapeno plant this year. I have grown them for a few years and this is the first time I've seen one on them. I had no idea they attacked peppers too until now!

I enjoy watching your videos because there are few I’ve found from Ohio. I live in the Hocking Hills and right now the weather pattern is on and off warm……if it’s warm it’s raining and I cannot work the ground. I bought more grow bags this year and I have a small enclosed garden with raised beds which were not deep enough….I wanted to use untreated boards but hubby was against it…so I thought and thought…..we had plenty of barn roof slate and I placed it against the existing boards and now can put more soil etc in those beds…lol it sort of looks like grave stones lined up but hey they were free and repurposed…..this garden area is against our barn / gathering barn which I have an art studio upstairs and it’s now the room with starts. The second floor deck has winter garden jugs lined up and I’ll use that area for pots of cabbage and plants that Mr Groundpig wants to eat…every year we catch and release the ground hog that’s a pest and move far away but another one comes along….. I have an area which I wanted to develop into a large garden but it’s next to our drive and the road…I’m concerned about those who feel they can just take what they want because they’re too lazy to grow their own….( earlier we had someone steal half of our cut and split cherry wood while we went camping) drove their four wheeler up on the hill and took it.😡 I’m concerned and I know some say I’m silly but a lot of people are without scruples , it’s there they take. Further back behind the house I have a 12 x 20 cattle panel greenhouse….but I’d like to make another for more plants. Because our weather was awful in this area last year and I had a poor tomato yield…..normally there’s farmer stands but the few had tomatoes at $2 a piece….without flavor. Riding thru Amish country was the same. Right now I’m starting seeds in cardboard boxes and then will just cut away the bottom and plant the box without disrupting the plants roots. Being we are seniors a big garden is not in the picture because we both have shoulder problems so I’m taking my flower beds next to the house and planting a veggie kitchen garden…I’ll also will grow cucumbers in the greenhouse since they did well in there last year. My husband thinks I’m wasting my time because the critters and deer destroy whatever they want, living next to the woods increases the numbers. I’m ready to can more. We made one large room in the barn into a gathering room with wood walls, floor and hand built counters and shelves. To be enjoyed for family get togethers but more for me to have all my preserving equipment etc out there rather then in the house.We often just sit out there and enjoy the wood burner and relax…….gets my hubby out away from the TV…. Where did you get your elderberry starts? When my kiddos were young I made elderberry pancake syrup every year but they picked it along the railroad tracks near us. I advocate medicinal gardens all the time….mullein saved us when we just had Covid after Christmas. I give it to my husband now because he was just diagnosed with COPD. He builds log homes and the constant wood dust has ruined his lungs and smoking.( he quit this past Sat, cold Turkey) oh my….😮 I made dandelion, golden rod, echinacea and mullein tinctures and plan expanding more into medicinals…..Did you know Rose of Sharon is edible? Even hostas but I haven’t tried those….Rosemary Gladstars medicinal beginners guide is a good source for info…. I love your garden room with the bench…..I’m wanting to take the area where the above ground pool sat and still has the sand and stone wall and make it into a old brick patio with pots and handmade grow bags filled with medicinals and bee friendly flowers. I’m making ceramic tiled tables from the left over stone tiles that were going to be discarded from my husbands job sites…..more then half our barn redo was wood he salvaged from their burn pile……thank you again ….sigh I could go on and on…😊 Thank you for listening…it’s just nice to have a gardening vlog from the same zone…..🥰

Wow! You have one of the most tidy, beautiful and healthy gardens!! Such an inspiration! I have to be honest that I find myself being a tad bit jealous sometimes when I see some of the healthy northern gardens. I'm in the south, but not quite southern enough for some crops. But I repent, and use your garden as the inspiration that it is😊. Btw, those zinnias that were a deep peach color were absolutely stunning! I must get my hands on those. Peach and orange flowers are my favorite 😍!!

i love fresh okra! I, too, just eat it off the plant while in the garden....in NC.....so, yes, in the south. I've never coated it and fried it.....just a very light stir fry w olive oil. YUM.

Gosh, you have a bit of everything in there, very nice garden. I wish that I had a nice country property, I would get a really nice garden going. I would never need to buy vegetables or fruit at the grocery store again. I like any bright colored flower, your Marigolds look really nice and full.

I just discovered your channel and all the great information you share! I learned that I should buy everbearing strawberries so I can eat them in the first year! I didn't know you should take the flowers of until August then let them make fruit, awesome 👍 My jaw dropped at your grapes in hanging baskets! I've never seen that and it's so cool. 😄

What a spectacular garden!

You inspired me to go back into my autumn garden, where I saw a snake last week, and harvest/weed. I pulled out 2 giant yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, beans, pumpkins, acorn squash and a giant blue squash. Butternut squash are still green, but there’s lots going on in this garden. The snakes can enjoy it for another week to themselves now.

Oh, we had an all out war with vine bores and squash bugs. We lost all of our summer squash, and it looks very bad for our Boston Yarrow and Golden Delicious winter squash. Last year was the first that we saw a few. Not planting ant next year, but I will save what seeds we can. Take care!

Unfortunately,. I see I was not the only one who lost my zucchini crop to vine borers. I've tried many things. Daily inspection works best. Also lost most of my cukes to wilt. Last year was rough. I'm in Zone 6 in R.I. Hopefully better year this year. We are always learning. Thank you!.

I have about 7 purple coban tomatillo plants that are atleast 6 ft tall in a raised bed. Theyre a small fruit size but the quantity is large. We take the husk off, rinse & dry them and bag them to put in the freezer.

Very nice! Jealous of all those tomatoes! I've had some nice cherry tomatoes in the 4 hr part of the garden and a few early girl there as well. The sunnier part (8hrs) has that sweet 100 at about 8 ft and only now starting to ripen. Got first mini melon a week ago on August 12th. Seriously, try the Minnesota Midget Melon. 4 ft vines. 10 softball sized melons per plant and very quick times for short season growers like us. My only problem is that I lose a couple plants to rotting at the roots from rain in May and then I have a ton of very ripe fruit to give away in August. One year I harvested 30 melons in 3 days after only 75 days. Very sweet and delicious tho, so nobody refused them. Top comment was , "Adorable" . :)

Okra. First year I have grown it-not a big fan. I'm a Texan so yeah, grew up with 'Fried Okra, boiled Okra, Pickled Okra'....Meh. So, I discovered by-self, if you wait too long to pick, they become indebible so I will plant the seeds next year and see. That said, I also discovered I *like* them Raw myself, fact, just ate one raw before watching this video. For those who do not know [[like Self discovered]] Okra pods grow around the center stalk at the top-I was waiting for them to hanng down like Beans or Tomatoes and accidentally discovered the formed 7" long ones under the top leaves.

Looks fantastic Jenna! I just harvested some potatoes and tomatoes recently, love those variety names lol!

Great video. SO much info...love it. I have a tiny garden (first time growing in Texas). My Okra is rocking it, although I"m starting to get a major infestation of what I believe to be aphids. They are collecting at the flowers and the ants are LOVING them being here. I've had my bout with the Squash Vine Borers. They took out my plants. BUT, I've replanted and now use the 'aluminum foil' method of projection...fingers crossed. Thanks again for the informative and enjoyable video. Keep up the great work.

Just found your channel… Extremely informative and entertaining to watch. I grow in northern Canada zone 3B but we had such a hot summer that I am seeing all kinds of new bugs in my yard this year. Thank you for the information and looking forward to you’re next episode… I will take all of the okra LOL my plants are only 2 ft tall getting production but not a whole lot. I realize this is from last year but .... oh my goodness was that Castor oil plants .... I absolutely love them. I had some about 7 years ago, saved some of the beans ... but they got lost when I moved. I'm guessing someone threw them out o me. I've been trying to get more but its always something stopping me ... maybe next year. I'm here in Ohio between Dayton and Columbus.

as always, great video. Love the aerial shots and the variety of experimentation you do. And all those flowers! That's a dream of mine. :) I have noticed the same thing about jalepenos. I grow them for my husband and they just work. Not so much the sweet peppers I want. I know what you mean about tomatoes changing flavor over time or based on growing conditions. I have 4 napa chardonnays growing in four different spots in the yard, and I don't like 2 of them at all, one of them is ok, and one is so good I'd almost think it is a different tomato if they didn't look identical. I am sure it is the soil and moisture condition in the one I like that makes it so different. I just wish I knew exactly how to duplicate it! lol
