When you say fresh grass clippings. Like cut the grass and then mulch right away? Or do grass clippings need to dry some first?

1 year ago?? How did I miss this?! .... Jenna, this video is golden for me. So glad it popped up in my feed. I'm a zone 6 as well and we definitely like many of the same crops. Thank you, Jenna!! .... Just a note, last year I got about a month of spring planted pea harvests - this year, much less. Must be the heat. My peas grow quite tall, too, so I'm not sure how I'd shade cloth them -- unless I tried growing them in the arched trellis, which i could cover with shade cloth. Things to try and improve for next year.

We discovered Surround WP about 5 years ago when our Mt. Royal plum trees suddenly were "attacked" by the plum curculio weevils. They are real buggers and can infect and destroy a lot of plums (and other fruits). Surround made all the difference. We spray it on the trees just after the blossom petals fall off in spring. That is about the time the weevils get active. We also use it on our apple trees. You will need to reapply it after a hard rain. I love this product and am grateful for it. I wish local garden centers sold it so I would not need to order it from far away places and pay shipping.

All my southern peas were ruined this year...every pea has an egg in it with a hole in the pod by a pea version of this. The only way to stop them is powerful poisons over and over. So I can`t grow peas here unless I want to shell them fresh and eat bugs.

There are canopies that have clear tarps completely made for different sizes. It’s very easy to put up and if bunkered down w bucket cement for example or tied to anchors or nearby trees etc can hold up really well. Just look up ERC Guam canopies for the sample maybe they sell it in your area.

I started doing this a few years ago and you are right. It is a lot less work all at once both at planting time and harvest time. I only can jalapenos and everything else I just eat fresh so staggered planting works out great.

Hi Jenna! Quick question. This is an old video and you've since stopped suggesting sand 🪣 for clay soil. I totally get that. But in this video, you mentioned using topsoil with sand added. My question is, did you see any long-term (current day) issues or benefits from having added that sandy topsoil to your garden 4 years ago? 🤔 #gardening #soilhealth ✌🏾😊

Jenna! Thank you for this video. You are quickly becoming my fav gardening channel. 🎉 I am a beginner gardener in cental Missouri zone 6, and I want to build a beautiful in-ground garden, that can adapt and change through the years. How much trouble am I in for? Lol. From an expert to a beginner, can you set me straight? 😅 it'll take about 4 years right?
@GrowfullywithJenna3 күн бұрын
I think 4 years is realistic- though a lot depends on the scale. I’m on an about year 5 of my current layout and finally feel like I’m getting it to where I want it in terms of design (though I’m always tweaking things).

@@GrowfullywithJenna Thanks for your insight. I didn't specify but my soil is also clay, hard pan at about 4ft down. So that 4ft of regular clay is a 'blessing'... I guess. lol. But yeah I'm excited to start the journey. Thanks for all you do! ☺

I'm a transplaant myself! From zone 5 to zone 7. Took me a whole planting season to shake off my internal planting schedule and realize I have a wonderfully longer season. Got with the program this year and now have a second crop of seedlings coming along for a second crop. Jenna has a pleasant voice, nice speaking pace, very easy to listen to. Some YTers have great videos but for me can be hard to listen to. 😊 I subscribed.
