One afternoon ( very much like today- lovely , cloudy and “ gloomy, “ and cool ) my older sister read this story aloud to a group of us kids. We would repair to this room when rainy days made any play outside out of the question. Another day she read “ The Monkey’s Paw” and, somehow , another day some abridged version of “ The Wendigo.” My older sister, who normally couldn’t be bothered with us. Some of the happiest hours of my life!

Perfect timing and execution! I've been craving Fall and a bit of spookiness, and this darned hot weather won't allow me to fully indulge in many Autumnal pleasures but this story struck the perfect balance 👌

I'd never read this story before, and I really enjoyed your reading of it. In fact, when it was over, I immediately went back to the beginning and listened to the whole thing again to see what I might've missed that would help me solve the mystery.
