Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, founders of Zentangle®, show how to tangle "auraknot."
Zentangle is an easy to learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We believe life is an art form and that Zentangle is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.

I used to have trouble drawing a stick figure and then I took a class with a wonderful CZT teacher. I wish I could tell her how much she changed my life, you guys changed my life! This tangle has always given me trouble though. I couldn’t quite get it from the stepout on your app. But this video showed me the way! Thank you both so much for opening up a whole new love of making art in my life. My husband wants to frame my tiles and hang them up, in our living room! You guys are amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm SO glad I discovered ZenTangle. I always doodle when I am bored. Now I can make beautiful art while relaxing and zoning into the "tangle". Thanks so much.

I used to doodle and draw on the back of coasters and then I found out the other bartenders were serving drinks on my drawing side and people loved it. Some asked me to sign them and would take them! I wish i had a stack now to do my zintangles lol please post more videos!

OK, NOW I get it!! watching the video and stopping and starting and doing it with you both makes the difference, as I have always been, a "show me" rather than just a "tell me" person. Thanks to you both !

I can hear the joy in both of your voices! What a delight it is to "see" all the possibilities and variations. Otherwise, I would just follow the step-out and never go any further. Please Please Please make more videos!!! Thank You for this one!!!!

My boyfriend and I found your Zentangle books at our local craft store. I am so excited that the idea has really taken off. I can NOT draw, but tangling allows me to look like I am really good at creating complex patterns (even though it is really simple to do) We live in Delaware, there are no CZT in our area, but that just gives a reason to take a road trip!

Melanie Marchenko, If you take into consideration that the points do NOT have to be the same size and shape. . . you may find it easy. Practice getting 6 points on some scrap newspaper or whatever. . . and once you have 6, follow the steps and appreciate the organic feel this tangle creates. I would stay away from the pressure that it should be all even and perfect, It is not what Zentangle is all about. Have fun, relax, enjoy. Maria

Yikes! This is so coooool! Thank you, Maria and Rick! I never would have believed that I would be able to do it, but thanks to the pause button and your "skip a point" instructions, I was even able to do the variations! Thank you so much!

I'm so thankful I've stumbled into your videos. I've never heard of Zentangles before, but it is the kind of doodling I've always had some kind of natural inclination. It's like you put order into my chaos! I just gave your Mooka a try while having breakfast and I love how it felt to draw it. Looking forward to seeing more.

My tendency was to start my next aura line from where I had finished my last aura line, not at the next point to the left next to where I had done my last one. I don't know if anybody else is having that problem, but I just thought I would mention it just in case anyone is.

I appreciate your drawing. as an artist myself. I am a perfectionist at random, if that makes sense. a word of advice for you. Just as you have coined the term "zentangle" please be aware of other art work forms. The CELTIC knot feel as you refer to is an "anal" thing for us artists whom master in this craft as you do in yours. The classic definintion of a CELTIC knot is that each line pattedrn goes...Over,under,over,under over uner etc to infinity....when this doesn't happen it drives us NUTS!!! however I do intend to incorporate some of your amazing Zentangle patterns into my celtic artwork..this is by no means a rebuke..but a friendly reminder...I love your artwork and freedom...just watch the terminologies...LOLOLOL from an avid watcher of zentangle and fellow creative artist
