Hearing her talk about the book Veronica Decides to Die, and saying she's read it 5 times....one, made me want to read it. But it also kinda made me feel for her...and the sadness she's no doubt felt in her life. Aurora is SUCH a radiant positive inspiring human being...who's made my, and so many others, life vastly better. To think she ever experiences sadness, let alone depression or feelings of existential nihilism, honestly pains me. But you can see in her eyes, she's clearly someone who feels a lot and who takes emotions and the ups and downs of life to heart. It's no doubt part of the reason she's SO good at being such an empathic human being and such a healing force in the world. She knows the darkness....and doesn't pretend it away, or cover it up with sacharine sunshine. That makes her ability to find and embody and radiate joy.....that much more potent and authentic and genuinely inspiring to someone like me. Love her so much. sneep snoop

Ditto. I work in a used bookstore....and I could never ever give up physical books. I tried Kindle a few years ago....and hated it tbh. It just felt....sterile. I'm sure there's ways to do it right...because you can make an argument for books wasting paper. But....there's eco-friendly ways to do that too. One thing working in a used bookstore has taught me...is just HOW MANY BOOKS there are in the world. When I was a little kid I used to think being an author was this rarified thing that only the elite of the elite humans could pull off. Now I realize....any random weirdo can write a book, about anything. And you can find _someone_ who will publish it. It constantly amazes me to see the weird stuff that comes in to our store. And....we also see some super cool super rare super treasured items. It's def one of the perks of the job. Touching loads of books that clearly reek of cat pee.....on the other hand....is NOT a perk. -__-

She's adorable and her choices just fit her character so well (as good as I can tell from her music), but my heart did break a little, when she broke the spine from the last book, haha xD

Oh i love to do it. It’s a very satisfying feeling. I love second hand / used books, that feel like they have been read a 1000 times. It’s like they are telling another story besides the written story in it. I sometimes even fold the corners when I don’t have a bookmark 🫣 I know some people might hate me for this but how cool do used books look and feel!!!

That's one reason I love my job. :) BUT......gently loved books are one thing. Books reeking of cat pee, growing mold and larvae, or so water soaked that they weigh twice their original weight....that's a different story. And we see THAT at work all the time lol. We have to turn away at least 60% of what people bring us. It's amazing sometimes what people think we'd be willing to accept. In the 6 years I've worked this job, I've seen things you wouldn't believe lol. Just a few days ago, some guy brought in his books to trade.....but they were all SO water damaged, that they were literally dripping when you picked them up. At least I'm assuming that was water.... And he seriously was shocked(shocked I say!) that we turned them away. Some people..... :P

@@avedic Oh wow! That's definitely not what i meant by that haha. That sounds horrible 😄😄 These books probably wouldn't even be good for burning them anymore. (Is that even a sentence? Hope you know what i mean lol)

I have no interest in books these days, but I was absolutely captivated from start to finish. Aurora just has that magical ability to make me want to listen to anything she has to say. She is just so fascinating and likeable.

Well....I just bought the book Veronica Decides to Die today at work! I work at a used bookstore...and while I was sweeping the Literature aisle at the end of the night, I thought to look...and we indeed had a copy. Reading the back synopsis....it sounds very sad, but also very inspiring at the same time. But the mere fact Aurora has read it FIVE times...means I gotta read it. And I'm sure as I'm reading it I'll be thinking of what she must have been thinking about while reading any given passage. Because that's how much of an insane Aurora fan I am lol....

Huhu I’m so happy that AURORA and I have the same tastes. I insanelt love Mistborn, Neil Gaiman’s Ocean at the end of the lane and Paolo Coelho (though the Alchemist is my preferred book of his), Haruki Murakami’s Kafka on the shore and read Name of the Wind recently coz of her. Now I have to start reading The Power sitting on my sheeelllff. Love love AURORA 😭😭😭

Cool. I read The name of the wind and next books from the serie because of her recommendation (funny think i though i read it already but messed it with another fantasy series) :). I guess need to pick another one and why not from her recommendations (as I just finishes Wheel of the Time 14th book) ;). Ps. I love Sanderson but unfortunately i read recommended book already:). Also i am very bad in remembering the name of the books or where i finished read series :)

She has good reading taste! Likely she won’t see this but if this channel does pass on recommendations/she checks the comments 👀 I would highly recommend The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon and Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler. The first is an epic fantasy- a stand-alone novel but with solid worldbuilding- exploring religion and myth; the second is speculative fiction about climate change written in the 90’s and has some very chilling scenarios (especially in the sequel 😵‍💫). Both writers are women too :)

Good choices! I haven't read The Priory of the Orange Tree....but a girl at the used bookstore I work at, read it...and really liked it. And the plot/subject matter seems 100% up Aurora's interests.
