These Grey-headed flying-fox have been cared for by vaccinated carers and are now ready to return to the colony. Please note that these animals are not pets and that if you encounter an injured flying fox or microbat, that you must not touch it but call your local wildlife group for trained rescuers to attend.
In the event that you were bitten or scratched, you would be giving that animal a death sentence, as the only way at this time to test is for the animal to be euthanised and a sample taken from its brain for testing of the Australian Bat Lyssa virus.
The background sounds were recorded this afternoon at Bomaderry Creek. You may need to turn up the volume :-)
