I have a Gallop and it is amazing. I also have an Apollo Phantom V2 and the Gallop is better in just about every way. More robust construction, suspension is better, throttle smoother, the small details are better like tires, kickstand, and fenders, and it just handles better and feels more stable at speed.
@tomsgadgetgarage6 ай бұрын
At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to need a steering damper or not. After taking it up to 42mph, I quickly realized I don’t need one haha. Definitely agree it’s super stable at speed. It’s my go to for rides after work to clear my mind. It’s great to hear your comparison to the Phantom V2. I almost pulled the trigger on the Phantom and City Pro in the past. Both times I had CC info entered, just needed to click purchase lol. Have you tried Ausom’s Leopard scooter yet?

Great information and review, I think this is an amazing scooter, I really enjoyed your video where you took this up the mountain, that was awesome
@THEAVERAGEGUY19838 ай бұрын
This is definitely a very good scooter. I think its price point and performance is a great deal for anyone wanting to get a scooter for daily riding. This will have zero problems keeping up with vehicles while riding on the street to work, a Gym, the super market for buying small items. Super awesome! Thumbs up from me.

My only concerns are reliability, but also safety for the battery and charging, i have seen way to manny recent battery fire and battery gas explosions on the internet... so i can wait until all the safety stuff are verified for at least 2 years from the first production of the core components like motors, battery pack, charger, and BMS.
@THEAVERAGEGUY19838 ай бұрын
@Narinjas that is a very fair point and a legit way to get good feedback on a new product like this scooter. That's one of the reasons i waited on my MAX G2, seeing how the feedback on the previous model the MAX G30 was like for people. 😎👌 good choice in waiting.

Awesome vid. It’s currently $1,099 on sale. I’m between this and the PUNK Rider Pro. Wish the tires were self-healing along with regen..
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
That’s an awesome price for this scooter! It’s very capable both on and off the road. As for the tires, tubeless would have been nice. I will say they are pretty beefy tires and I haven’t had any issue with punctures so far after about 250 miles of riding on/off road out here in the desert. The primary advantage of this scooter over the Punk Rider is going to be the plush suspension, hydraulic disc brakes (for stopping power, not so much maintenance), and overall power/speed. The Punk Rider has an app to customize settings vs the on screen P-setting menu on the Gallop. It also has the self healing tubeless tires, higher IP rating, and regen brakes.

@@tomsgadgetgarage I appreciate the feedback! I’m out here in the Bay Area and looking for a commuter, so I wouldn’t be off-roading. Also, like the tech bros, I dig the cyber look, but can’t afford the truck! Lol
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
Haha! Yah in that case I’d go with the Punk Rider Pro. It’s lighter, has more tech, and sports the dedicated regen brake, which I love on the Apollo Go. It also look great as you said.

Tom, great review. Do you think the squealing brakes on the Gallop is just your bike or do you think that thats just the way hydraulics sound? Thanks!
@tomsgadgetgarage8 ай бұрын
So the brake buzzing sound is actually the electric/regen brakes. These can be dialed down to values as low as 20%. I’ve heard the same noise on other scooters. When you dial down the regen brake the buzzing sound dissipates.
@MattyBoy7178 ай бұрын
Tom, thanks for your fast reply. Much appreciated. So are you saying that if I buy a Gallop, I need to make an adjustment to the braking system in order to eliminate the squeal? Or would I be ok out of the box? Thanks so much again.
@tomsgadgetgarage8 ай бұрын
No problem! So the good news here is the buzzing you hear is accentuated my the placement of my microphone when recording. Out of the box the brakes are fantastic. You shouldn’t need to make any adjustments. The disc brakes were silent for me out of the box. If you do want to reduce the intensity of the secondary electric brake, simply tap the function button three times to go the settings menu. From there single click the function button until you see Pb on the screen. Long press the function button for three seconds to adjust the value. Single click to toggle between values 1-5. 1=20% strength, 2=35%, 3=50%, 4=70%, 5=100%. Once you choose the settings, long press for 3 seconds or just wait 10 seconds or so for auto save.

Are the controllers sinewave? How easy is it to change a flat tire and replace brake pads etc?
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
Hey! Great question, I’m waiting on an official answer on the sinewave controllers. Will get back to you shortly. Tires should be relatively easy as the scooter has split rims. I’m actually considering swapping the tires out for street tires so may have a video on that.

Does the 4A charger work on this scooter?
@tomsgadgetgarage3 ай бұрын
So you can double up on chargers (2x 2amp chargers). Not sure about a single 4amp charger though. I didn’t see anything in the manual or on the battery about max input amps.

I wish I had gotten this instead of my Apollo phantom. Phantom is good but I would have spent hundreds less on Gallup. Phantom doesn’t have key or nfc reader which is ridiculous. If I has Gallup with the deck swing open door I would get a second battery to charge and put in a backpack to double my riding range. I’m not gonna pop 12 deck screws to change battery on side of the road. Gallup gives me Phantom buyers remorse. I love the phantom regen brake throttle though. If Gallup had the regen throttle it would be perfect.
@tomsgadgetgarageАй бұрын
Yah when I made the videos on the Gallop it was a brand new scooter and there wasn’t any info on it aside from Ausom’s website. After riding it around for a few weeks I was hooked. I’ve been riding around on it ever since. I just ordered some PMT street tires for since I ride mostly on road. We’ll see how they perform. The regen brake lever is definitely my favorite thing about Apollo scooters. My GO has it and I’m hooked. How’s the performance on your Phantom?
@RaiderNation-NorthАй бұрын
@@tomsgadgetgarage I’m satisfied performance wise. The no key or nfc reader is completely ridiculous.if I had a Gallup I might try to make a stem rack to hold a spare battery so I wouldn’t have to carry the weight of it.😀 both scoots same similar build wise like the top speed battery cap. Motor watts etc… if I ever did get another scoot it wouldn’t likely be an Apollo…hey maybe I could get a Gallup and use phantom motors and throttles, then I get better battery access and regen brake throttle!! Hmmmm 😂
@tomsgadgetgarageАй бұрын
You could make your own Franken scooter lol. Yah the battery is definitely heavy. When you mentioned putting it in a backpack, my back started to ache haha. When I put the road tires on I’m going to redo my range test on the Gallop. Stock hybrid tires are nice but they are pretty loud. I also prefer more rubber meeting the ground when riding around at higher speeds.

So this is similar to the RS5 as well as the Kukirin G3 Pro. I believe different brands use the same base with their own customizations/design elements.

If it’s too big to fit a metro bus then I might as well get a motorcycle I live about 30 miles from work This is kinda risky as I’m 180 I carry about 20 lbs in my pack It rains a lot and we have hills
@tomsgadgetgarage4 ай бұрын
Yah at that distance you’ll need to do some charging at work to get back home with most scooters. There are scooters that can achieve the round trip on one charge, but they cost significantly more. The Ausom Gallop is 88lbs, making quite difficult to lug around.

Similar styling. It’s my understanding that many scooter companies source their scooters from Titan Group/Unicool. The Ausom Gallop, VSETT 10, Roadrunner RS5, Kukirin G3 Pro, and more are similar in appearance with some brand specific changes to styling, components, etc.
