The good thing about the marvel cross cutters is that it cuts into the cable evenly. So you could just pop the white off with one pinch and ply 👍

Good vid mate. Your flukes seem sharper than mine. I’ll have to take a video and compare. I also think your pinch cut marvels are sharper, I haven’t used it much though. I’ve never heard anyone taking the sharpness off the cross cuts. But I’ll definitely be looking into that. I find it easier to strip with the red wattmaster and wiha cross cuts because they are just a little blunter. Keep it up👌

Yeah man the de-tune is legit - hardly effects the cutting power but it makes them a little less temperamental- especially stripping the outer jacket. I lost a pair that had years of use on them and that dullness made them easier to use IMO. Fluke pliers/Sides were both under performers but their needle nose are my new favorites👌

One of my apprentice got the fluke pliers and they were blunt as.

Marvels cross cutters are love; Marvels are life! Glad you're a fan mate, Whia & Crescent also make a model ;) The Wattmasters go alright also and they're owned by Klein Tools!

Hey mate great video! Can you go into more detail on what you do to the MVA’s to take all the edges off? Thanks 🤟🏼

I busted my mvas a while ago but I didn’t like how sharp the blades were so I ended up getting the knipex bad boys. I’d love to use the marvels again as they are just so much smaller and sit in the hand better!

If you have access to a belt sander that would be easiest, if not a diamond stone is probly the next best idea. detune the cutting blades a bit also - they come waaaay to sharp. I finished up with some sandpaper with the pliers in a vice for a smooth all around finish 👍

Hi man, which tool do you use to make them not sharp?

Just imported a pair af marvels from Japan. Can you believe these aren’t sold at all in Europe? We usually cut and strip with 160mm sidecutters, though I’ve always used a small pair of cable shears!
@WillmannElectrical2 жыл бұрын
nice mate! lemme know what you think of them
@plumbraider22652 жыл бұрын
@@WillmannElectrical I quite like them. I do a lot of low volt wiring as a heating engineer. They’re no good for stripping our cable though, since our cables are round. They shine at stripping and twisting the wires themselves though!

Bought a roll of Romex just to practice this way of stripping, after about 40 tries I can reliably remove the jacket with only minor damage to the wires underneath, but I’m not getting better 😅 This is a lot harder than it looks

the marvel pliers arent rated for 1000v which is what drove me to an alternative.

Just started using this technique to strip cable. Struggling a bit. My hands get sweaty so when I try to use my thumb as leverage the cable just slips through my hands and I can’t get the insulation off. Any tips for this 😂

@WillmannElectrical2 жыл бұрын
There definitely are man and I have a bunch of them 😂 Thing to juggle is the weight your carrying vs the job for the day, If i was fitting off all day - new build house for instance - I would be using autostrippers but for a few outlets or plugbases i'll just use the pliers.👍
