Aussie: Tracking showers + next wintry change this weekend

Downpours and showers are moving across Australia again this week, mostly in the southern side of the continent and along the eastern seaboard again.
That means some further rain relief for parched southern areas, including southern WA, SA and parts of VIC and NSW. TAS may also get some wet weather in the mix, along with QLD, although totals look generally lower or more broken up.
There’s another surge of wintry air going into the weekend - and that will bring frosts back as far north as Queensland and more snow on the Alps.

1.4 mls Phil for Adelaide🎉 a bit more to come but at least no watering to be done outside for a few days😂 The wind has been from the east most of the week so it gets dry. Other than that we are looking forward to a bit more rain tonight. It never goes amiss here so we are grateful for anything😎🤣 Cheers and looking forward to the next update😆

As a resident of a drought prone country, I get cranky with any Aussies that complain about the rain.

Get cranky at me all you like, mate. I have solar off grid and my old house is cracking/shifting because of all the recent rain. Just spent $5k trying to mitigate drainage problems and wrecked gear under the house. I get cranky at all the bushland, which attracts rain, being bulldozed for development when we have so much unused cleared land sitting there for decades doing nothing.

I look at the map for Monday & it shows rain - yet I had to go into Penrith for an 11 am appointment & other than overcast cloudy skies, No rain & of course, Cranebrook being north had no rain, it is now 2. 30 pm & still no rain at Cranebrook. All we have had over the past week is very light rain that just kisses your cheek, nothing heavy or substantial. Just very crippling arthritic pain because of the higher humidity so I definitely needed a walking stick this morning. I just checked the Sydney Radar & no wonder there is no rain... It is just reaching Oberon, still to hit Lithgow & we are about 2 hours east as the crow flys, so I shall keep my eye on the radar & see if we do actually get a decent drop of rain this evening!! Cheers!!

It's slightly annoying that people think -12C and colder is abnormal in Australia. The Great Dividing Range, The New England area, Dorrigo Plateau, all have winters where -14C is normal. Ebor Falls have frozen in the recent past. I'm often challenged though by Aussies who believe it can't possibly get that cold anywhere in this country. It can and it does.

Can you tell us Why it's always so cloudy, some people are saying it's weather manipulation and the powers that be don't want us to get sunlight, is there any truth to this?
@WeatherWatchTV
@WeatherWatchTV Ай бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the good question. Most people who say that have totally the wrong end of the stick and do not understand the monumental energy the planet already has without humans. Cloud seeding does exist - this is when humans spray already existing clouds to make more rain, and this can only be done very locally - ie, on a ski field, or near a hydro dam. It does NOT continue on and make storms. That's like saying digging a hole in your back yard made an earthquake. Also, in NZ this does NOT occur on any levels - but there are some localised examples in Australia. It's not measurable beyond the local area.. .much like how a local bonfire makes some smoke in the valley it's in - but doesn't turn the skies grey in another country!! Around the world Government's are investing in "Geo-engineering" which is enhancing nature to protect nature in most examples out there. (ie, using natural sea spray to reflect sunlight around coral reefs - something that already naturally occurs - to limit heat and damage). The comments about government's manipulating weather are American talking points from conspiracy sites peppered with some bits of reality - but no weather forecaster I know on the planet believes in the conspiracy. Also, finally, people who believe in Government's manipulating the weather on this big scale never want to hear someone push back on their comments/questions - we've found 99% of them extremely rude and usually swear at us when we do so. It's become like a religion to them to believe in it because they want to believe in it regardless of evidence that can be challenged. Cheers, Phil D.
